Of course it is difficult.
However I am certain that QCN's emission curve leads to less accumulation of MRO at few early adopters and lets late adopters the chance to mine sufficient amounts of MRO's. Of course it may be more expensive to Buy into Monero now, but it is better to Mine AND probably to Buy into Monero later.

Plus it has the benefit that there would be no need to discuss how mining rewardshould be organized when 18M coins are mined yet (fixed reward, fixed inflation 0.5%, 1%, 5% ?).

To be fair though, it's very difficult to

a) distribute the monetary base (which has to be distributed to the users, otherwise there are no coins to play around with)
b) do it "fairly" (every single definition of fair is vulnerable)
c) provide good store of value that prevents massive inflation (otherwise inflation is corrosive to one's investment)
d) provide future-proofing (as proof-of-work will require miners in the future too)

...all the while aiming for perceived success (price rise) which catalyzes actual success (=> more buying / adoption etc) instead of perceived failure and consequent death.

Love this post. I very much want Monero to succeed. But I think AlexGR made a very good remark why this could actually not happen.
People do not like to buy coins that go down. Who of you would like to be in a country whose currency drops against all other currencies? => buy another coin (XC, QCN) / foreign currency (maybe CHF if it would not have been coupled to the Euro)

I think that if Monero wants to succeed in its prior goal to become THE anonymous coin for the people it has to at least ensure that price is not dropping too bad with all the MRO supply per day. Otherwise people will not want MRO. Not know and not in 3 - 4 years.

hey guys i need your help.

I wanted to test this coin and have mined a couple of moneros to two different adresses.
I used two different pools, and on this pools i can also see the paid amount.
But on my wallet the balance is still zero. I tried cryptonote wallet and simplewallet in different versions.

Furthermore im not sure if the blockchain is downloaded sucessfully, cryptonote wallet downloaded the blockchain
a couple of hours and is now saying "ready" but i dont know how to check that.

Any ideas of what i have done wrong ?

In a constant growth supply, price deflation doesn't occur unless the economy is growing. If the economy is growing, the value of the reward is increasing, not remaining constant.

I want a coin which does not rob people of their savings, that is anonymous. It will therefore be resistant to centralization. It will also inevitably have high adoption in that case, because it is what the species needs to escape the explosive trap of debt money. The whole purpose of an anonymous coin is to protect against robbery and extortion. Building robbery and extortion into the coin completely destroys its justification for existence.

You wouldn't put it in your batch file. You would type minerd --help in a command prompt.

eg. open command prompt

change to the correct directory

eg. cd c:\users\desktop\miner

then type minerd --help

I noticed that lately the client take a while to sync too, using the old or new version, probably because it tries a long list of peers before establishing fresh and responsive ones.

does not seem to work. I deleted all files in that folder (simply moved them, in case they needed to be restored). client regenerates: blockchain.bin, p2pstate.bin, and poolstate.bin. still unable to get past initialization.

the 64 bit windows package has a git dependency that's unresolved, so i can't use that version (bitmonerod freezes)

Try deleting the peers list in the appdata/roaming/bitmonero folder

I noticed that lately the client take a while to sync too, using the old or new version, probably because it tries a long list of peers before establishing fresh and responsive ones.

It appears most of the miners have upgraded their software to the latest version (0.8.8) or at least the latest fees schedule (5*19^9 AMU minimum).

Please upgrade your daemon and simplewallet to the latest github version if you have not within the past few days. Windows binaries were updated a couple of days ago on the front page and already have the new fees schedule. If you do not upgrade you run the risk of your tx not going through because it lacks the required fee.

I will likely merge 0.8.8 today.

I took a quick look at the code I think you just need to run multiple copies. Run it as many times as you want threads. Unless I missed something. Huh
