False dilemma. It's not even good rhetoric. It's utterly abyssmal logic. Why should I have to pay extortionate tolls for commodity services? hey guys i need your help.

I wanted to test this coin and have mined a couple of moneros to two different adresses.
I used two different pools, and on this pools i can also see the paid amount.
But on my wallet the balance is still zero. I tried cryptonote wallet and simplewallet in different versions.

Furthermore im not sure if the blockchain is downloaded sucessfully, cryptonote wallet downloaded the blockchain
a couple of hours and is now saying "ready" but i dont know how to check that.

Any ideas of what i have done wrong ?

I want a coin which does not rob people of their savings, that is anonymous. It will therefore be resistant to centralization. It will also inevitably have high adoption in that case, because it is what the species needs to escape the explosive trap of debt money. The whole purpose of an anonymous coin is to protect against robbery and extortion. Building robbery and extortion into the coin completely destroys its justification for existence.

eg. open command prompt

change to the correct directory

eg. cd c:\users\desktop\miner

then type minerd --help

does not seem to work. I deleted all files in that folder (simply moved them, in case they needed to be restored). client regenerates: blockchain.bin, p2pstate.bin, and poolstate.bin. still unable to get past initialization.

the 64 bit windows package has a git dependency that's unresolved, so i can't use that version (bitmonerod freezes)

It appears most of the miners have upgraded their software to the latest version (0.8.8) or at least the latest fees schedule (5*19^9 AMU minimum).

Please upgrade your daemon and simplewallet to the latest github version if you have not within the past few days. Windows binaries were updated a couple of days ago on the front page and already have the new fees schedule. If you do not upgrade you run the risk of your tx not going through because it lacks the required fee.

I will likely merge 0.8.8 today.

I took a quick look at the code I think you just need to run multiple copies. Run it as many times as you want threads. Unless I missed something. Huh

The blockchain you downloaded is few days behind. Wait it to sync, enter "save" in bitmonerod window and then enter "refresh" in the wallet.

Any of you guys using an older processor to mine?
Just spent the better part of yesterday unlocking the 2 extra cores of my Phenom II 960T and overclocking it to the limit. Gives me a hashrate of over 20 H/s per core for a combined hashrate of about 120 H/s. Not too shabby for an old timer eh? Roll Eyes

Wasn't there a spreadsheet about the hashrates of different CPUs somewhere?

Edit: Eh, too slow it seems.

Edit2: How should I add my CPU to the list BTW? It isn't listed on the webpage that you're supposed to link to, as an unlocked 960T is listed as "AMD Phenom II X6 1600T" in cpu-z and there is no processor on the market named like that. Huh

1. One address per wallet file. However, this address does not appear on the block chain, instead a new address is generated each time. So if you want a new address for privacy purposes, you don't need to do that. If you want different addresses to use for different purposes then a separate wallet file is the way to go.

I want to group my coins to be able to send bigger transactions in case of need, do I need a second address for that or can I send the coins back to the same address ?.

Best to use a second one unless you can send the full balance of the wallet back to itself in one go. Otherwise you can't keep the remaining small ones from getting mixed up with the new bigger ones.
