I'm looking for some another coin based on the Monero ago. Do you know some altcoins based on Monero? Most of the projects which I have found it is definitely a scam. Could you link me some serious Monero related projects?

what about the other privacy coins with possibly better features ? someone has looked into them as well ?
Don't stick blindness to 1 coin, as there are maybe other good privacy coins as well.. possibly even better....

If you were to do some research for yourself,  you would understand that there currently are NO viable private currencies other than Monero, with ANY feature set.  Go read something(and not just propaganda Roll Eyes).  Spouting ignorance and then accusing others of wearing blinders.  That's rich.

And I see we have another troll in the neighborhood to ignore... he's just trying to correct our thinking about privacy because none of us have done any research.

You make me feel sick. the fact that you can't answer a simple question, let alone understand the question.... and get upset about it, shows your childish and poor mindset. No way you are able to be a holder of this coin (maybe you bought 0,02 Monero from the pocket money your mother gave you... get milk and go to bed..

People like you drive away new investors/money...

I personally know of some folks building large mining farms just to mine Monero. They believe Monero is the future. Are there any target prices for Monero with regards to valuation?

Yes, there are many differing target prices out there for different time frames all with a different probability of success.  At the end of last year I basically said that my expectation was that Monero would reach about $4250 (about 10x growth) by the end of 2018 based on a bunch of assumptions and past experience. This may or may not come to pass in that time frame but, I firmly believe it will happen at the latest in 2019. It's always hard to grasp and be comfortable with the concepts of exponential growth so these types of predictions seem so outlandish... until they actually happen and then it's easier to look back at the charts and see it.

I know this is not a highly technical analysis but, I'll be anxious to see if I'm right or not anyway.

Whatever you are thinking, think bigger.

I'll see your 4250 and raise another 5000...

That's very possible... what I said originally was from a price of $425 that it would grow 7x - 15x in the next year but that I thought 10x was reasonable.  What you're suggesting is more like 22x.

Do you think we'll see 3 of those "j curves" in 2018 where XMR goes up 5x from an established support level?

If so, that might be the explanation for how Monero gets close to $10k this year.

Hi,

I'm not sure this forum is appropriate, please forgive me and let me know if it isn't.

I use monero-gui-v0.11.1.0 and a single wallet.

Each integrated address I generate for this wallet share the same 88 first characters.  As far as I understand it shows that they are from the same wallet, I mean if I send one of those addresses to somebody,  then if I later send another to the same person, the person will know that those addresses are from the same wallet. Did I understand correctly?

If so how may I avoid this, in other terms how may I obtain completely unrelated (apparently) payment addresses? I understand that I can create a new wallet for each address, but it is not convenient (more things to do and my moneroj will be dispersed, leading to even more things to do if I have to pay a sum superior to any single wallet's contents).  A Bitcoin wallet lets me obtain (apparently) unrelated addresses, is it possible with a Monero wallet?

Thank you!

Yes. It's fairly trivial to derive the plain address from the integrated address. Currently your situation is only avoided by creating multiple wallets. However, the next release will include subaddresses, which allows you to simply generate a new subaddress in the same wallet each time you have a need for a new "address". See:

Went to move a few coins on poloniex.

In balances it shows all my coins, but in the individual breakdown it shows 0 XMR.

Also it says all my coins are on an order.

But view my open orders shows none?

Anyone else had this weird thing?

Treat it like windows.  log out, clear cache, reboot  Undecided

I don't think there is any exchange that isn't full of glitches right now.  For instance, polo won't let me set limit orders, and if it does, it deletes them shortly after.

Monero has been ignored lately, when in fact in terms of community score it is the sixth most trusted and searched coin in the crypto landscape.

This was one of the most exciting projects in the bitcoin space a couple of years ago then it just died. http://www.othercoin.com/OtherCoin.pdf

Quote
OtherCoin is an off-chain Bitcoin payment system based on a tamper-resistant smartcard in microSD form factor. OtherCoin works by securely generating, storing and transmitting Bitcoin private keys between parties. Private keys are never revealed to either the sender or the receiver, they can either be used directly in the Bitcoin protocol to sign transactions or securely transmitted to another OtherCoin user. Each OtherCoin smartcard guarantees that the key has either been securely generated by itself or has been received over a secure channel from a similar OtherCoin, with the same restrictions.

I haven't heard anyone talk about it in ages. I think it was a little before it's time. Bitcoin hadn't run into its scaling issues yet and hadn't become generally well known yet either. But maybe it's time has come?

FP specifically has put forward the idea of attacking scaling at all levels and it seems to me that this is a potentially very practical and powerful scaling vector. Additionally it would make many of moneros transactions entirely off chain. This has great implications for privacy. With our funding model we could probably raise the funds necessary to fund the development of some sort of open source application specific hardware device for this sort of thing if a knowledgeable hardware guy were to avail himself.

Mostly I just thought it would be cool if I could kick off a discussion about this proposal. Get it back in the public consciousness. More specifically into the Monero community consciousness. What are your thoughts dear reader?

i am curious  , is there anyone who have the same trouble as me (You seem to be missing the last word in your private key, please try again ) and has solved it?

i am reading and trying for days now and i know more people had this issue

Do you still have old bitmonero & simplewallet binaries?

no . to bad i had an accident which ruin 80 percent of my portfolio and computer so i have some xmr but i hold them on an exchange but i find a note with my ( old ) mnomenic seed for XMR and when trying to put in the seed in

https://mymonero.com/#/create-your-account , the above message about the last word of my seed has made me stop trying , how many words could be possible?

i also hear about an old simple wallet with 1 word less but i do not restored the old wallet

any more options to try???

my time off following XMR was at date with my old BTT acount (meccoin4me) which is also is useless after the accident and after starting crypto again i almost forgot about XMR , till i found my incomplte seed

Apparently there's another way, try these steps:

1. Go to the Github repository: https://github.com/luigi1111/xmr.llcoins.net/

2. Press "Clone or download" and download the ZIP.

3. Note that the ZIP (i.e. included pages) can be used offline (on an airgapped system) if needed.

4. Extract the ZIP to a directory of your liking.

5. Open addresstests.html

6. Set the "Mnemonic Dictionary" to "Electrum (Aeon default)"

7. Enter your 24 word mnemonic seed in box "1. Mnemonic Seed:"

8. Press "Gen 2."

9. Set the "Mnemonic Dictionary" to "English (Monero default)"

10. Press "Gen 1."

You should now have a 25 word mnemonic seed that you can restore with the GUI:

The old mnemonic seeds had 24 words, whereas the current mnemonic seeds have 25 words. MyMonero probably accepts only 13 or 25 word mnemonic seeds.

I've asked Fluffypony if there is an archive somewhere with the old bitmonero & simplewallet binaries. Then, you can simply restore your wallet and open the .keys file with the most recent version.
