Is there any way to see the pending send transaction on MyMonero? That was one thing that was a bit frustrating... I couldn't see that there was anything that was trying to go through...

The most convenient way is with an explorer, e.g.  http://chainradar.com/xmr/txpool

Crypto is the separation of Power and State.
Woah ! It's really the final sign of a real Monero revolution : Cointelegraph mentionned Monero in one of their news !!! :-)

Do you think the author was fired ? ;-)

Meh, it's just BullBear copypasta.

Wake me up when they actually join the rest of the Bitcoin and Fintech universe by writing their own ZOMG Monero is A Thing Now article.

That should happen shortly after Anton Pumpanddumpolis gets over his anti-Monero butthurt.   Cheesy

I'm trying to transfer some monero from MyMonero to Poloniex. I got the deposit address and payment ID from polo, copied and pasted it all into MyMonero and clicked the compelte button but nothing seemed to happen. My balance on MyMonero didn't go down and it's been 15 minutes and so far nothing has shown up on Polo... any idea what could've happened?

update on this one. It finally showed up on polo... it took 45 minutes though... is that common? I set the mix to just 3...

I've had transactions take 30-35 minutes before.  Most times its about 10 minutes.  Might have something to do with the traffic at Polo.

Keep in mind that your transactions stay in the memory pool while the mix segments are being matched.  Depending on traffic and the amounts in play it can take a while.

TLDR: Just read the bold bits

You know I don't how if anyone has considered this but monero should scale better than bitcoin even if bitcoins block size increased dynamically because mining centralization wouldn't have as negative of an impact on our project than it would bitcoin. That is to say, we can afford more centralization because mining centralization has a lower cost for us.

I mean what are the fears associated with centralization of miners. What are the reasons to be concerned about this. The main one. What you might call the marginal concern because its the one that matters before any others do, is transaction censorship. So suppose miners become centralized enough to censor some transactions, which would the censor!? Miners would have no idea which transactions were the bad sort.

Can someone twitter/social media that argument for me. Maybe get it retweeted by a majestic wild twitter pony. I would but I revile social media and so dont have any twitters or facebooks.

Friendly reminder: with this much attention Monero got lately, it would be nice from you guys to do some housekeeping.
I know that BitcoinTalk.org is (officially) not anymore the main home for Monero discussions, however, most of them still take place here. The people that want to get into Monero will search here first, then on the new forum (which actually isn't tidier than this).

Now, there should be a clear place where the current state is written. Editing the OP for this would be nice (for example a few words about the upcoming changes that'll go next week onto testnet).
Then the mining. People will want to mine and earn Monero. Which is good for the network. But while the pools and software have change, the monero mining OP seems to get way behind. 5 pools not working, other working pools are not on the list... There are various miners that go for various CPUs / GPUs, still many use Claymore and Minergate since they're the only that work for them.

I hope I didn't make anybody angry, my intention is to help.

Good point.  I don't have any access to help the situation out though.

how fresh is the latest bootstrap? my sync time is awful .. been two days and only at 400K blocks

The raw blockchain, which can be download on the website and subsequently imported, is updated frequently and automatically if I recall correctly. Link:

Look the Hight at http://moneroblocks.info/
or type
Code:
status
in "bitmonerod"

Sync speed can be super fast with SSD and it can be super slow on fragmented HDD.

I'm using SSD in my laptop which I think is really very reliable when talking about speed compared to traditional hard drisk drives. Recommended for those wallet that have huge blockchain size like monero.

Please help:(

My mother who doesnt know how to use monero very well wanted to exchange monero to bitcoin but instead of doing it correctly through an exchange site, she put the bitcoin wallet address into the monero send address so she basically sent monero to a bitcoin address within her monero account which means the bitcoin address was recognised as a monero address...

Is there any way the coins can be recovered with the transaction ID from the overview page?

Thanks so much for helping in advance!!!!!

This... shouldn't be possible...

I told her explicitly not to do it I have no idea how the heck she pulled that off SadSadSad
but she told me she put the address of the bitcoin wallet to the send address of the monero account and the balance of monero went down...
what could have happened there ? is there anyway to recover the sent coins or is there any way to recover sent coins with monero?

What did she send with ?Simple wallet? mymoneo? The address types are so different It isn't possible.

She used mymonero. I am in shock right now. Cry Cry Cry

Your story sounds far out but I'll act in good faith.

Look there is no way the monery left her private key. Start with re-scanning the blockchain on mymonero. If that doesn't work well have to figure out how to derive a spend key from the mymonero seed and import that into simplewallet. The funds aren't gone because they couldn't have gone to a bitcoin address. Heck they don't even start with the same prefix. Bitcoin addresses begin with 1 and monero addresses begin with 4.

Thanks for the reply! I m sorry I dun quite understand what to do though because I m actually only a bit better than my mother on these things like I know how to buy and exchange and that's all.... I dun think I know the things u mention above. Cry are those things difficult to do? Is the MyMonero platform generally able to return coins?
