Hi I asked this question in another thread but didnt get any real answer. I am trying to figure out is it really feasible to mine monero? I mean, even if you dont pay for electricity, help me understand the point of spending money on hardware that at the most will get you 1500 h/s per video card? Thats like what? $15 per week per video card? Video cards are expensive. Even if you rent a server with a fast cpu that will get you 850 h/s thats still only $9 USD per week. How is it worth dedicating hardware to mine these coins? If you cant set up a rig for fairly cheap by renting or scavenging parts, I dont see how you can make at least $300USD per week mining coins for a profit. Am I missing something? Why are you guys mining for less then $75 per week?

Anyone here with mine XMR Radeon RX 480? What the miner used and rate of h/s achieved? Thank you.

Check GPU and CPU hardware comparison for Monero mining here at Gorill Pool http://gorillapool.com/#hardware

ASUS RADEON RX480 STRIX OC 8GB   8 GB DDR5   620 H/s   N/A   CLAYMORE CRYPTONOTE    WINDOWS 7 x64

That data and more (101 Benchmarks) was taken from here:

Is it possible to mine xmr in solo ? Just want to learn solo mining and also wants to check my luck

Solo mining can be done only with CPU not GPU.  You need the daemon running and synced.

False. Both Nvidia and AMD miners support solo mining.

I guess I'm behind the times Embarrassed   TY

Solo mining can be done only with CPU not GPU.  You need the daemon running and synced.

can you tell me the link, please

https://getmonero.org/downloads/

Monero binaries come with "simpleminer" generate an address from your wallet (simplewallet) then run the miner (after daemon sync). You can also activate mining from within the daemon itself (start_mining). With a CPU, even a single GPU, you probability to grab a share in a decent time is... more than low.

Better mine for free at xmr-pool.com
0.0% pool commission
Ultra short 5 sec share acceptance window
Light, stable and reliable.
8 cores dedicated server: ultra fast!

Miner download for Windows users : http://www.xmr-pool.com/#getting_started

Simpleminer is no longer part of the package, you have to run 'start_mining
' in the daemon once it has synced.

Hey everyone are there any tweaks that can be done to get higher H/R besides hardware? Settings or parameters for Nvidia GPUs and intel cpu?

Also is this correct, the smaller the pool the longer time and higher rewards?

I have been using this miner for my NVIDIA GPUs, there is a small performance increase over the tsiv miner which hasn't been updated in 2 years.

Hey !
I have a A2 Terminator of 90mh/s
Why it's not possible to mine monero ?
If Asics are prohibitited, it will be forever or just now?

Thanks !

I believe that is a scrypt miner.  Can you mine btc with that? Roll Eyes

Monero is a different algorithm than either scrypt or sha256 so no current ASICS will work.

Asics aren't prohibited it's that they don't give that much of an advantage compared to GPUs and GPU's don't have much of an advantage over CPUs.  GPUs are obviously more scaleable than CPUs.   It is possible to build asics for Monero now but you wouldn't get back the cost of developing, building and running them.

Thanks for the thread about mining HW, tried my GTX1070 and it really seems that Nvidia is not well suited for monero. I get around 480 h/s.

750ti is still the best for value.
250 h/s for 60watt is so sweet. and also its cheap now.
