I am quite surprised that this little treasure didn't garner any comment.  A lot of people in China are getting their very first exposure to XMR.  This bit of editorial content was echoed on numerous web properties.

When I clicked the link I couldn't make sense of it.  It certainly doesn't look like Chinese.  This is what I presume is the headline looks like.

I observe that weekends typically favor the coin-of-the-hour.  While XMR is more like the coin-of-the-century, for now it is also coin-of-the-hour, coincidentally.

I've noticed that too, especially when there's a bit of upward movement on Friday afternoon. And especially with XMR.

I have a hunch that they will release the gui wallet sometime before Monero trading on AlphaBay begins on Sept 1.

Soon..
Not happening. Too many issues still unresolved in github. Last I heard, the dev was going away traveling for a few days. So don't hold your breath.

If you search for xmr you see the same data but by region it gets interesting - Canada is going hard for XMR.  Noticeable also that there's still not much interest from Europe or Australia - so big markets still to get on board.

Keep in mind there is a quadbike manufacturer called XMR, which is what the canadians are searching for.

Soon..

Well that might be icing on the cake as far as price rise.  Looking forward to the GUI myself.

Not happening before Sep 1.  I will ride the NYC subway naked if the GUI is released before Sept 1st

No you wont.

So you agree the GUI won't be released before Sept. 1

I was just thinking that I would certainly be arrested so you are correct there as well.  Didn't originally think because that's how slim of a possibility I think it is.

As for price speculation, even though those with skills far beyond mine are predicting significantly lower prices on the horizon I just don't see how that can happen.  Too much new interest and the dnms will not be a bust.

Just say it has something to do with feminism and you will be fine.

He is ofcourse lying about his mining and of how profitable mining is.  Mining was very profitable when price was halved. Now is super profitable. But for sure miners will join with time.

Do the math yourself idiot. A single GTX 800 hashes at 600H/s - that is .2 XMR per day

I have XMR loans out on Polo for 0.49% a day for 60 days. Should they be out for the full duration that'd be a 29.4% XMR return.

Doubt we'll see those rates soon again though. Got them in when the price were around 0.005 and the XMR loaning market were illiquid since people rather took margin with their XMR or wanted to be ready to sell their XMR when it was breaking out thinking it will be temporary. Whoever has my XMR now is trapped inside a horrific short position and seemingly unwilling to cut losses.

This is something for miners who do not care about trading to be aware of. Next time XMR breaks out be sure to check out the lending market instead of taking the 0.15%/day rates you have there now.

Grin  I've still got a couple 0.49's out there, but don't expect to run the duration. We touched that range again yesterday, but I was too slow to take advantage. Still, lending has been pretty good this week.  I've bought my own coins a few times  Cheesy

Ok guys, I'm officially done for some time. Volume decreased almost 3x since DM news, and the price is obviously getting manipulated at this moment. Will wait for a stable price around 0.005-0.0055. That has to be done. If not, DM vendors and customers will be afraid to use Monero, because of 30% daily jumps/dumps

See ya.

The general rule is that when the volume drops after the dump it is the early sign of the bottom (no more coins to dump) and the next step from there is to climb up due to the organic demand which it finally is about to get.

Where do we need to draw the lines now for Aminorex's marketmaking?

Regardless of any viewpoints on DASH, historically just about every major XMR rally is preceded by a DASH rally, usually by a few weeks. This is my observation, perhaps its merely coincidence but you decide.

Also wanted to make note of this. Well spotted, brother!

I bet it works like this. Step one. Privacy becomes all the rage. Early on when people become interested they havnt yet had time to do research. Doing research for yourself takes time. So they succumb to the marketing of dash. Then after a little bit of time passes, people have had some time to do a little bit of actual research for themselves and this way they discover monoero.

This is what happened for me. I went to dash first and I was like "ok dash community what've you got for me". I never bought any though. I was thoroughly underwhelmed from the start.

Same.  IIRC (which is very questionable - I have a memory for concepts and math, not events or faces - but easily checked, were it worth doing). I bought some before bitmonero was a thing, then when I learned about bitmonero, I abandoned darkcoin.

Seems like a pretty reliable pattern, but it does take a certain...level of understanding...to know when you are being bullshitted.

Yea. I had to be able to understand the white paper. That takes a certain level of commitment to familiarizing ones self with the concepts of computer science. But I mean if you cant read and understand a white paper what in the heck are you doing investing in alt coins in the first place!? That's just begging to clobbered in this market.

I too had a pile of Dark coin.  It was just thinking through all the "features" of Dark coin that ended up leading me away from it.  My main beef was a lot of the features look like either compromises or attack vectors to me.  When I saw Monero what I saw was a clean simple cryptological platform which only tried to do one thing differently than Bitcoin.  Since that time I have seen it improve in all the areas that are different than a typical scam coin or even something that is just hyped.  Solidified codebase and cleanup (needed), block frequency (1m to 2m) changes, research into the possible weaknesses of CN (MRL), increased privacy (Shen), new database structure (LMDB).  Zero hype.  Zero flash.

Currently I see the two biggest detractors of monero being:

1.  Single(ish) point of BTC/XMR exchange failure
This one is mitigated somewhat by the options that exist, but currently Poloniex is too much % or Monero trading.

2.  Cryptography that is less tested that Bitcoins

Like everyone else I want to see a nice functional GUI.  But that is still pretty far down my list.  That said, this would be a pretty good time to welcome the masses with a shiny, easy to use GUI. Wink
