I continue to hold that Ethereum is strictly irrelevant to the currency use-case.  The barriers to liquidity are too high.  The layers of complexity required to achieve fungibility are too risky. The scalability problems are intractable.  The legal/political risk is off the charts.  Even zcash is more credible, and that is another corporate coin, centralizing political and legal risk.

I will wager 100 XMR that a top 3 volume DNM offers XMR support before ETH.  When that happens, game over.  XMR mcap will then surpass ETH within a month.

In fact, that might be what our whale friend knows about.

Seriously doubt that. DNM all use escrow and Monero price is too volatile for them to consider adopting at this time. Sellers would not choose to use Monero because they would be scared of losing money. Also Monero is hard to use for buyers who are used to Bitcoin.

GUI should help with that!

Okay, so when Monero has multisignature capabilities, then moon. Which means, more cheap coins for now.

..., the majority of people think what they think, and see through the attempts to manipulate the public opinion.
Surprised to meet a fellow landsman. Living on a different continent, that may be, but still the same country. Always the same country in these regards, everywhere.

I wasn't saying that law enforcement/spying agencies provide child porn.  I was saying that there might be an outcry over monero similar to the hissy fit Chuck Schumer had over bitcoin.  A spark can turn into a wildfire of public outrage, fanned by the powers that be, and for example the NSA might apply its computing power to attacking monero.  I think that scenario is unlikely, but it's possible.
You're willing to consider all kinds of far-fetched scenarios that another person might call conspiracy theories, Risto.  Don't you think the the scenario I've outlined lies within the realm of possibility?
Looking into the future, events almost never play out the way they think we will.  Sometimes things turn out better, sometimes worse, but often they play out in unexpected ways.

That is what I am slightly worried about.

Once ASIC is needed to mine Bitcoin, Monero can be mined by GPU. So it is easy for NSA to attack Monero. Have I understood right?

This is why bot mining is a necessary evil in the war for decentralization.

Looking into the future, events almost never play out the way they think we will.  Sometimes things turn out better, sometimes worse, but often they play out in unexpected ways.

Totally subscribe that. Everytime somebody does a prediction, I know automatically is cancelled to happen. The more people predicting something, the more the reality blends into unexpected outputs.

Bubbles always happen when nobody expect them.

The overexpected halving x2 price won´t happen. You can mark my words. It would be or way more north than 800$/BTC or 400 stagnated and/or sunk. I would say the most improbable mix of both.

The block halfing in btc is irrelevant given the trading volumes vs. the amount the emission is cut. After all, the supply of btc gets cut by like 1800 btc a day.

emission is not irrelevant because break even for miners will be much worse without a price increase.  it's not about trading volumes, it's about network hash security and cost equilibrium.  the halving is a terrible way to handle reduction in rewards.  xmrs smooth adjustment per block is much much much better.  one more thing i like about monero.

No, we don't think is happening only with NEM. Is not strictly NEM related.
But Nem Core trying to take advantage of that.
And they want to hide that.
If you are just curious a bit, please go there and have a look.

Hi Guys,
Sorry to interrupt you,
I’m here only to ask some  help with an issue we are having in the NEM Thread.
you can start to read from here : https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.14260914

Basically, has been accidentally discovered that a NEM Core Team was hacking Exchanges with a technique that allow him to withdraw the double amount of money that was just deposited. It’s a Glitch in the System.
This has been discovered from a  Nem thread user that was friends of Codtycoon, who hacked the exchanges.
WE discovered it as Codtycoon stolen NEM Coins from him, used them to hack few Exchanges, and only after the Victim start to post publicly on the Nem Thread, he offered to give them back to him, as he did at the end.

Now, the problem is that the Hacker stated the Whole NEM CORE Team was aware of that. And they also partially confirmed that.
Codtycoon (the Hacker)  said that he was doing these attacks for a nobile cause.. he call them white attacks. He said he made Exchanges aware of what he was doing, and that he got Bouncy for that.

Once we started to contact Exchanges, we realised that NEM Team made them aware of the hacking Attacks ONLY AFTER the Victim start to publish evidences in the Nem Thread.
There’s a post (posted this morning) From the BITTREX Owner where he clearly states (note: without being asked to do that) that They were NOT aware of any attacks !!!! and that someone from NEM Team contacted them only on the 17th March, that means after the issue was revealed publicly on the Forum. If it wasn’t for the public Post about that, and for the Hacker mistakes to steal Nem and discuss about what he was doing, NEM Team would have never advise any exchanges !!!
POLINEX and BTC38
That’s such a series issue !!!
We strongly believe that all the NEM CORE TEAM is corrupted till the bones.

Please note that all the evidences, PMs, Email, and post admissions from them, are publicly available for reading on the Thread I’ve linked before.
We tried to resolve this issue Privately.. thinking that NEM Team wasn’t aware of that.
They they just ignore us, being arrogant and vague. There we realised that the may be aware of that.

The issue that we are having now is that they are using Puppets and Fake Accounts to make us look like Fools, to discredit what happened.
They don’t even want us to comment The previous posts…. We are trying, but they fight us , telling us we are ridiculous, we lie.. stuff like that.. WHEN ALL THE EVIDENCES ARE THERE, YOU CAN JUST READ IT !!  But they deny the evidence of the fact. They basically didn’t find another way to fight these leaks.

What I’m asking is for some Genuine Forum Users, that care about the crypto Future, that get in the Thread, and if they believe we are right, post what the think about this issue. We need someone that is not Money Driven like NEM community. Someone that believe Crypto coins can make a better world.

All the evidences are in the last pages, if you have time please have a look, read them, and if you feel like, post against this Corrupted NEM Core Team.
THEY ARE TRYING TO HIDE EVERYTHING.

ALSO, PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD ON OTHER FORUMS….

Be aware that we were (we are still are actually) NEM Investor, but we believe Crypto World should be something more fair and not corrupted like NEM is revealing  to be.

We think People need to be aware of what they are trying to do.
Imagine if NEM get power … that would be the end of justice.
We don’t care if we loose all our NEM. Is not that the reason why we invested in that. I mean, not the principal.
But they all have hips of NEM stakes, and they just want to protect their Money.
There’s no money involved in this action.

WE STRONGLY BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED IS A SERIOUS DANGER ISSUE. WHO KNOW HOW LONG THE HACK TECHNIQUE  HAS BEEN CARRIED ON. EXCHANGES ARE INVESTIGATING IT.

Don’t let your opinion been driven from my post. Spend a bit of your time and read what’s going on in the NEM Clan.
If you have something to say about, PLEASE DO IT in the Thread. We really need that.

HINT: Keep in mind that most probably that thread is being monitored at the moment, so don’ be too rude and use the proper language.
Here again the link:  https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.14260914

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE DEEP OF MY HEART TO ALL THAT FRIENDS  WILL DECIDE TO SPEND A BIT OF THEIR TIME TO GET THEIR OWN OPINION ABOUT THIS DANGEROUS FACT.
We are struggling to fight them in their Home at the moment.

SPREAD THE WORD WHEREVER YOU CAN !!!!!

Thank you.
And sorry again  to have interrupted you.
But I really need someone form our side.

I mean what if the NSA makes an all-out attempt to bring monero down.  Political hysteria about dark markets, "terrorism, drugs and child pornography" could lead to that, in the worst case.

I do not have 100% evidence that the U.S. TLAs are the world monopoly provider of child porn (as they are in terrorism and drugs). Please lead me to the sources of information..

I'm dumping 300xmr/day, whatever the price..

Ha! That will really move the market.

As long as you have a lot of other minnow friends...  Wink

EDIT: IIRC you already sold ALL your XMR, no?

Yes i sold almost 100k xmr in the last 2 months, invested all into ETH and made a fortune. I still mine XMR at 300KH/s , dump everything i mine at 24h intervals

Thanks!  We will be grateful for your largesse in letting us have your coins at giveaway prices, while you keep looking back and wishing you had kept them.

Don't forget to close the door on your way out?

either primers a liar, thief, a closet monero lover, or theres a miner that goes about 15x faster than whats publicly available.

He claims to have a large number of computers mining.
