It's inaccurate. The bottom was reached on January 14, 2015, not in August. It then took two years to exceed the previous ATH on Jan 4, 2017. So start counting once we have bottomed.

While I don’t own any myself, I think it has strong potential to outperform Bitcoin, mainly because of it’s relative market cap.
Very few people actually care about the privacy features, they were just in it for the pump. People can mix bitcoin anyways if they want to hide their trail.
