My expectation is that when BTC sees a hype ramp, XMR will follow.  XMR will gain less cap and more % than BTC, both bottom to peak and bottom to post-cycle plateau.  Rinse, repeat.

The leveraged play on XBT during a XBT/USD boom. There is a lot of evidence supporting this from past XBT/USD booms with LTC, NMC etc.

Monero guys, please add Monero as an answer to "Which recent developments do you think will have the biggest impact on the BTC landscape in 2015"

http://www.coindesk.com/state-bitcoin-2015-survey/

Honest question: do you actually believe monero will have the biggest impact on the BTC landscape in 2015 or do you just want to vote for it? There's nothing recent about ring signatures as a technology, which has already been around for a while. As far as XMR itself being influential goes, I believe that most of 2015 will be the distribution/development phase for XMR (database, GUI, SPV  client,  mobile wallet, high emission rate, etc.) Quite frankly, I'm looking at 2016 as possibly being XMR's breakout year which is why I'll continue to accumulate while it's under .002 BTC/XMR

Exactly.
Monero most likely will not skyrocket at 2015. Perhaps late 2015 it has some chance to do it but the upcoming months are time for development and absorbing the emission as you said. I share your view on this.

Even my cat Riddick makes 1 XMR per day in the game and he does nothing but chase birds around, eat, and sleep.

You are being modest. Riddick has in his 3 days in the game earned:

- 3.4 XMR
- 33,000 stone worth 6.6 XMR
- Land Discount Coupon worth 10 XMR.

A certain player has done nothing ever (except bought the initial gold) and last time I checked, his account had gained 185 XMR worth of stuff  Cheesy

Is it possible to move the XMR out of the game? IE can you actually sell those stone for IRL XMR?

You need to find someone that need them ingame and sell to him. I dont think right now that is that hard. Actually before Lord Saddam was appointed as second treasurer deposits took days to show on character accounts. Many would love to get XMR instantly in CK.  You can sell any CK item if you find buyer. Last days was lots stone needed. But next week with new quarries will change.
Is just like in RL. If you want to sell fast you will hardly get fair price. If you have time and wait for best moment you will profit. Gold, stone, land, buildings, shares, bonds, moneritos and i am sure more to come.

I'm looking to buy 700 XMR OTC with bitcoin. Any sellers?

Any reason why you don't buy it at poloniex? Would reduce the ask side a bit Tongue

Price slippage

700 XMR is very small. Your order can be filled easily (Poloniex case, not easy to place buy order at lowest price in the market)  Tongue

Edit: By the way smooth, is there no API for the monero wallet yet?

Yes there is. How do you think the exchanges send and receive coins?

It is different from the bitcoin API, which makes for a bit of a challenge in integration, but those who want to put in the effort can do it.

I was figuring that they were using custom wallet software and then just looking up their received balances and associating it to your account by payment ID (through their modified wallet). I don't see a config file or a way to connect to the wallet. Also no help or readme file in the windows x64 compiled distro, is there a place I can read up on it?

Here is the info on the wallet API:

http://monero.wikia.com/wiki/RPC_API/Wallet

EDIT: Sorry, that is a new API that is being developed, but not finished yet.

For the current API I'm afraid you will have to look in the source code here but it isn't hard to follow just to get the structure of the requests even if you don't know C++

Just bought a bunch dirt cheap. If XMR/BTC drops again tomorrow I'll be buying some more.

By the way, why do bids/ask books keep moving all over the place even when trades aren't actually happening? It looks like people put orders then pull, reprice and put orders back up

Mostly trading bots

But the bots just don't actually trade? I literally saw 300 XMR moved up and down on the asks side without anything even being bought. Same for moving bids without actual orders being filled.
