It allows for the dynamic block size and provides more incentive for mining (network security). Also, I don't think it will affect available supply since people lose access to coins by forgetting passwords, not making backups, they die without telling anyone their password, etc. I'm embarrassed to say it but I "laundered" a USB key through my washer and dryer and it destroyed everything on the USB, including Monero info. In the case of AlphaBay, an unknown amount of Monero is now gone forever, but I'm assuming it's a nontrivial amount.
Hmmm, haven't even considered this. Yes, that could be an issue. But still, that just makes the remaining coins that much more valuable, right?

Another question:
(I'm full of these today jeez...)
Basically I've been talking on the Verge thread and people over there say that what Verge has over Monero is it's IP privacy.
Would this be considered a fair statement?

Is monero a limited supply coin?
No, unlimited supply. Constant tokens emission over time, decreasing emission rate.

a picture is worth a thousand words & stuff:

Why is that a good  thing? Not saying it isn't.. I found that the bitcoin logic of limited supply really work well for it being a reserve coin. Why is it better that 'cash' (which monero is trying to be, right?) has a constant slow growth? Any special reason?

I think that's the principle of the tail emission.

So mining continues and the chain is secured
Ah, I see... And you think that without this mining wouldn't continue? You think that bitcoin won't last after the mining fees are gone and they need to survive purely on tx fees?

After closing the alpha somewhere else takes this coin in the dark markets?

If I remember it right a month ago there were two small darkmarkets that were also  using  Monero. I dont know how is now and what are some dark markets plans.

I am feeling very....patient.

i feel the same and will not touch the sell button for any reason for many months ....

Actually people should be looking for good prices to buy more XMR right now.  Look at the charts, Monero isn't the type that trends most of the time.  It goes in a range for a long long time then breaks out.  If you're looking for a buy and hold coin.  This is it.

Anyone using nicehash and have an issue getting paid? A few months back I turned my htpc card to mining there and after 3 months and $100 of electric I finally got to the min allowed withdraw and nicehash wiped out my mining history when I took a month off. really weird it was only .012 or so that they owe. And the retard support guy wants me to prove I mined all that time, wtf is that? Who the fuck would screenshot for .001 btc? Thats retarded. Lol

Hah I found logs anyway but after I asked his/her employee number they have gone silent. Funny you can have such a hassle over such a small amount but it's the friggin fact they practically called me a liar for .012 BTC that has me getting really pissed off.

AFA being patient thats all we do here and then there is a mad scramble and repeat. Smiley

BTW, never heard of sensor before but listening to it right now. Not bad even though it's not my type of music I'm enjoying it. Smiley

This is more my speed. Smiley

Senser!  Love that album - Age of Panic was my personal fave track on that album.   I used to work with their label back in the 90's in my er.. former career.

That takes me back - did you ever see them live?

Wow fellow Senser fan. Yeah... funnily enough I saw them live back in 1994 at the Reading Festival...twas the first time I experienced what it was like to have a stage-diver inadvertently kick me in the head. All good fun though. (23 years ago wow).

Anyway I speculate a steady enthusiasm that will grow exponentially before ejaculation.

this might be a very noob question - actually, yes, it is... but it just struck me that I haven't the slightest...
Is monero a limited supply coin? Where would one find all this information easily accessible for all coins?

On topic:

Patience? Yes - and accumulation! Dumping BCC for XMR feels delicious!

That said, I don't like Finex much (have to hold my nose to trade there) but Bittrex seem to have frozen my old account (even though they were happy for me to put coins IN before they told me) Grrr...

No response from Bittrex support after 48 hours - don't use them for your BCC /BCH? before you test they will let you withdraw.

Sine secretum non libertas

I am feeling very....patient.   All of the factors for a level-up event are solidifying.  Multisig fully funtioning in HEAD could be the catalyst that unleashes all of those mounting forces, but the forces will continue to mount for a long while after that.

What forces?  Well, the rush of BTC back into exchanges, will lead to demand.  As BCH retraces and tops out headed for another leg down, XMR is a logical allocation fraction.  BTC transaction costs are still outrageous, and XMR remains far more economic, besides being fungible.

On a slightly longer term, the new leading DNMs will be Monero users.  SR1 drove BTC to $100, back in a day when DNM volumes we're a small fraction of what they are today.  Given the float problems and likely backdoors of ZEC, XMR dominance seems assured, and 4 digits can't be far behind.

Longer term, the war on cash is global and escalating.  The supply of non-inflationary low-income assets is constantly shrinking relative to the balance sheets of the banks (central, peripheral, and shadow alike), making XMR very appealing as a reserve asset.  Banking secrecy is almost completely gone now, and XMR is simply the only horse in that race, the others still fumbling at their gates while the race is half-way over.

There are many other factors which will play out on varying time scales, these are just some of the most obvious and largest.  Please add your own.

I would love to see an insider summary on the state of paybee.
