It is official. Monero won title of most profitable Crypto in 2016:   https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/crypto-profit-of-the-2016-final-version-1732516

That's impressive. 2916,30% rise in just one year, wow. Unfortunately I wasn't into crypto world in the beginning of the 2016. Now I wish I bought XMR with as much money as I could afford. So, did some people from here earn big money with Monero?

Thing is that on 1st January 2016, finally binaries that was named 0.9 Hydrogen Helix come out. Basically everyone knew they will be out 3 months before that since was tested so long as anything in Monero.  Market did not react on it even once they were out, it did slowly with a delay.  ETH and latter I also remember Siacoin attracted way to much attention and made many blind to not see Monero.

I remember when I joined Poloniex trolbox on January 1st 2016 and said that Monero with Hydrogen Helix finally  started running and that everything in Monero will now take way less to get developed, people were laughing or ignoring me.

Most that are reading and posting here, bought Monero way before 1st January 2016 and paid much more then would at that point. But I am sure there are some lucky guys that did it at that time, when all was totally clear what is ahead of Monero.

Well beside that positive Hydrogen Helix, there was 3 negative things that was pushing Monero price down.

1. Ethereum and co in Spring of 2016  steal all atention
2. Bitcoin halving in Summer 2016, since everyone expected BTC rally and would buy Monero soon after BTC ATH.
3. ZCash start in Autumn 2016. Highly advertised Monero competitor.

With this 3 things not be there, Monero price would be way higher today.

Fundamentally, these challenged the existence of Monero.
And technically, the price also needs a breather and cannot go straight up (parabolic run).
All of these are good things for Monero.

where is the moon for monero ? would you still buy @ 18dollars ?

Bitcoin was at $18 too, and we thought it was expensive at that time.

It is an invitation, someone wants us to go on a large leverage Long position. Good news! So he can dump on you easily - we will see tomorrow evening! ;-)

Actually, it's an invitation to short...  when you short XMR you need to borrow XMR, when you go long on margin you're borrowing BTC.

That is really nice! Grin

thank you

Just posted this answer in the other thread - but it needs to be disseminated:

It's going to be more like the 10th Jan, not the 5th.

Guys, market cap now is srsly "only" about 10 or 20 million $ fiat away from popping us up over both litecoin and (stupid) ripple... XMR at $216M and both of them at #3/#4 at about $230M

CALLING ALL WHALES! CALLING ALL WHALES!

Any WHALE out there within the sound of my voice (ahem, keyboard LOL) ... hey, listen up!!  Can't just ONE or TWO of you guys do us all a solid and just throw down a good old fashioned casino-style PLUNGER BET of a measly 20 million and push us up over the top into third place here SOONER rather than LATER?

Combined with all the incoming media attention about HoneyBadger breaking back up over $1,000 --- news media attention about a brand-new THIRD PLACE "better bitcoin than bitcoin" our good old favorite dark-horse HONEY PONY, coming out NOW, would be absolutely epic...!!!!

Well... that was pretty quick!

Thanks fellas... much obliged!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Potential upcoming news are the acceptance to Coinbase (if it becomes actual - but based on reddit odds are quite good Monero is going to be accepted).
Also around the Satoshi roundtable Monero probably gets new (large) investors from the early adopters of bitcoin.

Monero price would be about 30$
and 3rd market capitalization.
Hold coins if you think so.

Asking for your employer? Is Kraken a US based company?
I really worry about exchanges and the amount of information they are collecting from their customers.
Exchanges and companies that convert fiat to crypto are getting a lot more attention from governments, not to mention the fact that they are a goldmine for hackers if someone can manage to get access to this information.

It's Canadian i think. Alot of intrusive info they asked for, including SSN#. I told them I was a lawyer. Cheesy

Ha just got the email Deposit has been credited. too late now anyway. Smiley

their chart bites.

They are in San Fransisco.  They have swallowed up smaller exchanges globally for the last few years.  Their CAN liquidity is shit, but options are few so I use it occasionally.  More now that XMR is finally supported.  And Yeah, their charts are horrible.

Hell of a fight on Polo for 0.016

Maybe panicking shorts holding the rise off - 8000 ish XMR for the last few cents up to it.

And BTC under 1000 on Stamp as I type.  Getting interesting...

.0162 is 50% retrace from Sept high to Oct low significant resistance. Next level is .0186 if successfully breached. Looks like a pullback now.
