with this kind of competition I could revise the potential of 2017 for Monero to a little more bullish behavior.

+1. ETH (and derivatives) have a hard year ahead of them hardening their use cases and coming to the realisation that Turing completeness on what amounts to a distributed vm is way too vulnerable. A lot of soul searching in that camp for 2017.
Ripple I see as essentially a digital postage stamp. LTC hmmm. Not sure. Bit like Mark Twain this one eg rumours about its death are somewhat exaggerated. Im reading that segwit is coming to ltc soon(tm). Anyhow it may show some innovation and potentially some growth. Plus of course the big C likes it.
So yeah good potential for an exceptional year for xmr it seems. Happy New Year!

Thank you this is a proper explanation. So would the (official GUI/CLI) interface be more correctly described as middleware?

No. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middleware

In some sense the daemon might be considered middleware. The GUI/CLI wallet would be the end user application.

Thank you.
You like it when people explain things to you!  Tongue

Resistance at the 0.004-0.005 level may well be inevitable, but the speed and ferocity at which it is finally broken shouldn't be of any objective surprise. Thus, I wouldn't be surprised if we were toying with 0.0160 by years end.

Well... what's a couple of satoshi between friends?  Wink

Happy New Year everyone. Here's looking forward to 2017.

Haha, great prediction - close enough in my opinion =D

Price of XMR has been looking good over the last few days - I wouldn't be suprised if XMR became no2 or no3 on CMC by this time next year - Lets see where 2017 takes XMR =D

What could be better than our best good old HoneyPony's prospects at this current point in time??

The daemon communicates with the network.

The command line wallet does interact with the daemon but it has it's own commands, does not invoke commands on the daemon.

Both of these are standalone applications.

A wrapper would be an abstraction of some sort that invokes the commands on a parent application through a secondary interface.

Thank you this is a proper explanation. So would the (official GUI/CLI) interface be more correctly described as middleware?

The train is already gone...

Only for those that think of the train going to the next station, we prefer to think of it as going to the end of the line. Wink

I like the fact people are thinking in terms of XMR/USD now. Smiley

I would speculate that is was the same person, testing the market to see where the supply and rdemand levels are, and shaking the tree a little in the process. The costs of the exploration (if any) are probably well worth it for the data gathered (not to mention that some of the trading will be into their own bids and offers)

just a little bit of probing before the next move ...  Wink

Very astute observation, I concur. Although I think I would replace "person" with entity (IE organization).

yeah sure people trade into their own orders to "test the waters"   Roll Eyes

Yup, they do. Always have and always will. Part of The Great Game. Obviously if they are all your own orders it achieves nothing lol (or maybe just sthg different ....) and I was not implying that  Cheesy

Happy new year to you too  Wink

"part of the great game"  Grin

please tell me more about it  Roll Eyes

We will see if we get some Monero denominated fireworks this secular New Year's eve.  Roll Eyes I prefer Green Fireworks to Red Fireworks.
