Voting in Moonstone lets you select who will be the witnesses and at the same time how many active witnesses.
So voting for 5 witnesses let's you choose 5 witnesses and at the same time voting that there will be 5 active witnesses.

In the sense of community, don't just vote for yourself. Also vote for others. There must be a balance. The more you vote, the more decentralized the network would be, but at the same time, you get less blocks to mine.

if I could use a regular computer with 32 bits in my own home?

you can try, i haven't tried 32 bits. just try it and let me know if you encounter any problems. i'll be willing to help.
yes I'll try it, because I only use windows bit 32

you can run a virtual machine in linux inside windows.

Are the system/network requirements any higher than running a usual POS wallet? I could run this on my home server but it's not a 64bit VPS.

I think it will do for now. Hopefully you can run it 24/7. Also sent you a slack invite.
