Topic: [XPM] Pool mining primecoin using DigitalOcean (VPS) - page 8. (Read 88559 times)

Tried it, but I keep getting Error 4 when compiling...I'm using ubuntu 12.10 i386 server.
I managed to do it succesfully using Digital Ocean vps but this is another vps provider and I can't make it work no matter what.

Tried FuzzyBear's guide over at devtome/ppcointalk, and the other guides...same thing.

I must be missing a dependency or something, installed a lot of them already. :/

Try with :
cd ~/mikaelh2-primecoin/src.

Someone else is having difficulty with their VPS on Digital OCean?
All my SSH connections dropped.
Maybe a Hardware failure, or a DDOS.

that actually worked thanks, but tbh the rest of the guide (not the OP on this thread) is a sloppy mess. None of it works. At all.

I am trying with the one from OP but first trying to delete all the crap that other guide put on my vps.

I am following this guide

apt-get install make
apt-get install git
git clone https://bitbucket.org/pankkake/mikaelh2-primecoin
apt-get install build-essential libssl-dev libboost-all-dev libdb5.3++-dev -y
apt-get install libgmp-dev
cd ~/primecoin/src
make -f makefile.unix USE_UPNP=-
mkdir ~/.primecoin
echo “rpcuser=SomeUser
rpcpassword=SomethingReallyLong
gen=1″ > ~/.primecoin/primecoin.conf
sudo mv -f primecoind /usr/local/bin/.
primecoind –daemon -sievesize=200000
watch ‘primecoind listtransactions & primecoind getmininginfo’

this command

cd ~/primecoin/src

now says

-bash: cd: /root/primecoin/src: No such file or directory

the first 2 commands went great Smiley

what could be the problem now? thank god i only bought a small vps to try and mine primecoin not a dedicated server.

That's not my guide, but I'm guessing the git command never cloned the source.

Ah okay i will try the guide on the first page of this thread then, just that someone told me that the qt in the guide i was trying was a bit faster on x64 systems.  I'll try the guide from the OP and see if i can get this working.

Keeper of the Private Key
James Bertelson made it to my hate list for calling all miners "idiots"

It would be fun to see his computer mining any coins without his knowledge...

I'm not sure is this related to DigitalOcean's miner rush, but I received this support ticket today:

Greetings,

Preventing abuse is a top priority here at DigitalOcean, and we ask for your help in this ongoing battle. With that in mind, we would like to verify your account details.

Providing your personal information will allow us to better assist you now, and in the future.
Please let us know the following:
- Your name.
- Your location.
- Your phone number
- The primary type(s) of traffic that will be sent from/to your droplet(s) (For example; `web traffic` or similar will suffice).
a) Your public Twitter handle.
b) Your public Facebook profile.
c) Your personal/business website.
d) Your personal/business blog.

We find that procuring some basic information about our customers to verify accounts is preferable to detailed billing and payment verification, as billing information can be falsified.

Please also note: None of the information we receive will be stored or used for any other purpose than initial account verification and abuse prevention.

Thank you for your time. We look forward to hearing back from you soon.

I didn't mind giving them my personal details. Afterwards I got a nice "Thank you for verifying your account" reply.

I got that also, but didn't give them the last 4 items (I don't use them) and they came back asking how can they verify my account without that info! I asked what does that info have to do with my account?  What a joke!

They accepted my verification with:

In terms of XPM wallet. I used your digitalocean referral code so I just need some quick help.

Do I need to have my privkey at hand if I have already imported it to my main wallet?  I want to delete the wallet.dat off vps.. what do you recommend here?

primecoind stop
rm ~/.primecoin/wallet.dat
primecoind --daemon

and how can I download the wallet from the server?

Please provide as much info about the wallet part, as I am not too sure. Thanks for your help in advance.

Before you remove the wallet.dat export the private key for the accounts that have received coins, as in the OP.

I got that earlier this morning.  I am verified, but now I have no more VPM's Tongue
