I'm solo mining xpm with 10 computers using jhprimeminer -xpm option. However, all of them are connected to one server with Primecoin client.
I just realized that the all the computers are solving the same blocks.
New Block: 332966
The numbers are all the same across all the computers, and I just got an orphan block.
Are they solving different parts of that block, or are they solving the same thing redundantly, producing an orphan block? I hope it's the first case. Other wise, I'm just wasting the energy. Sad

One way make sure that all the miners has unique work is to specify different addresses in the -xpm parameter.

I'd feel bad if I didn't say something, but yPool is a total ripoff. I have access to a number of machines and have mined there as well as solo mined, and I made less than half with yPool than I did solo. Not sure if it is bad coding or an intentional ripoff, but if it makes any sense to try to solo, do that.

hi,

im new into xpm mining and have a few questions. I mine on ypool with tadyuk´s miner.

1) which miner besides tadyuk´s one can be compiled on linux?

2) are there any help for all the miner arguments available?

3) does tadyuk´s miner supports the -target 9 -bttarget9 arguments? I can´see them in the help of the miner when i start he miner without any arguments.

thanks and cheers,

Should I now use -target 10 -bttarget 10 since the network difficulty went over 10.0?

I tried it and the 7-ch / hr falls to 25% compared with before.  I haven't been able to find any 9-chain to prove all chains have been slowed down.

Should I now use -target 10 -bttarget 10 since the network difficulty went over 10.0?

I think it will be the default settings used now as difficulty is detected at 10.x but I might be wrong?

Is rdebourbon's version the only one that supports the -xpm switch? I've tried downloading it but his dropbox account appears to be temporarily locked down.

I'm trying to set up a private pool where several machines mine from the same wallet. I've done the exact same thing to solo mine all sorts of scrypt coins, but I can't get primeminer to connect to my local wallet. I have the following parameters in the primecoin.conf:

rpcuser=[myuser]
rpcpassword=[mypw]
rpcallowip=*
rpcport=8332
server=1

And I'm running the following command with another version of prime miner:

jhPrimeminer.exe -o [ip_of_wallet_machine]:8332 -u [myuser] -p [mypw] -xpm [mywalletaddress]

I get an error message that the -xpm switch is unknown, or something to that effect. When I eliminate the -xpm, the program crashes as soon as I run it.

I've read multiple posts where others have set this up with no problem, maybe its rdebourbon's version that will only solo mine like this? Does anyone have a copy of his latest they could throw up on another dropbox? Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

Here is a copy of rdebourbon's dropbox
https://mega.co.nz/#F!SMdjBZjA!ft7TBVIedEg820_3GFzEAQ

Also my miner supports the -xpm flag and can work also with getwork protocol in case you want to use with datacoin. For primecoin Rdebourbon's latest version used to perform better, mine is equivalent to rde's 3.3

Thanks for the link, apparently rdebourbon's version is the only one I've found that supports the -xpm switch and mining off of a local wallet. Have some machines running and we'll see if there are any surprises in the morning.

Can I still mine using -xpm option with an encrypted wallet? Since I encrypted my wallet, I haven't seen any xpm for few weeks now, or am I just not lucky.

Now I get many errors like this for 6- and 7-chains

Code:
Invalid share
Reason: Share target too low

Why is it? I am using rdebourbon 4.0F2  with command option -m 61 -target 9 -bttarget 9

I have tried Aerocloud's T16 and also have the same problem. command line options are -m 53 -m3 59 -m3 61 -m4 67.

Is there anything done about it?

Code:
Invalid share
Reason: Share target too low

Why is it? I am using rdebourbon 4.0F2  with command option -m 61 -target 9 -bttarget 9

yPool has a detection facility on the server side which automatically tries to determine your client side targeting option to prevent share abuse via a lower target.. I've noticed that occasionally this would reject shares if you had not sent "enough" higher length shares..

As you're targeting 9 - and the network is now @ 10, the server side check is likely going to become more of a problem for you.. I'd discuss with jh00 if the problem persists.

All my miners are losing most 6 chains and  some 7 chains.  The output is like this -

Valid/Total shares: [ 59 / 185 ]  -  Best/Max diff: [ 9.075941 / 0.000000 ]
Share Value - Total/Per Hour/Last Block: [ 23.131973 / 0.999311 / 0.000000 ]
 6ch/h:     4.92 - 114 [ 28 / 39 / 47 ]
 7ch/h:     2.89 - 67 [ 20 / 14 / 33 ]
 8ch/h:     0.13 - 3 [ 1 / 2 / 0 ]
 9ch/h:     0.04 - 1 [ 0 / 0 / 1 ]

Is there anything we can do about share target too low?

Does anyone have a working OSX binary and could upload it somewhere? I've got a quite a few macs here but am unable to compile.

Just a heads up, you should really vet any binaries anyone offers you whether here or anywhere.

That being said, I did not put any malicious code into this binary. It was compiled on OS X 10.8.5, I would assume it works on 10.9 also, but I haven't tested it.

Here's a binary for OS X I compiled:

http://69.67.252.135/jhPrimeminerOSX.zip

Here is the method I used to compile it on OS X:

Code:
Install Xcode from Appstore

Install Xcode Command Line tools (Open the Xcode application, go to the Preferences window, to the Downloads section, and click the Install button next to Command Line Tools)

Install Macports (http://www.macports.org/install.php)

From command line:

sudo xcodebuild -license

sudo port install openssl gmp git-core

git clone https://github.com/tandyuk/jhPrimeminer.git

cd jhPrimeminer

nano Makefile  (remove “std=c++0x” from second line)

make

It will compile with about 3 million warnings, but it will compile. Wink

Changing to -target 10 -bttarget 10 for several hours and getting very few 7- and 8-chains, I am going back to 9.

Thanks. If I change to  -target 10 -bttarget 10 the miner would still find and submit 9 chains, right? Just as when I use "-target 9 -bttarget 9" it finds and submits 8 chains. Actually I don't quite understand exactly what these two parameters do.

edit: typo

That's correct, any chains higher than the share target encountered will be sent back to the server.. The key bit is the initial filtering phase.. Targeting 10 will filter out some "valid" 9 chains, but it will also increase sieving speed.. Overall your XPM mined should remain the same as everyone is affected in the same manner
