Network weight is the number of mature coins staking on the network. So all the mature coins in all the qt wallets.
Your weight is determined by the fraction of your mature coins that are ready for staking relative to the network weight.
The number of active connections is simply the number of nodes or peers that the wallet is connected to that it can get blockchain information from.

No, it doesn't stake, the 2nd biggest advantage of having the electrum wallet aside from the security is ease it provides merchants to accept the coin. A nice woocommerce plugin was originally designed for bitcoin using electrum, and our XSI version is based upon that. The response at bitcoinmegamart.com has been overwhelming and I can barely keep up with all the orders I'm getting. XSI is surely going to become one of of the top coins.

Each electrum wallet has to be coded for each coin so the XSI version is only for XSI. The electrum wallet is much much more secure then the conventional qt wallet and has wallet recovery via that passphrase. The qt wallet does not. So in short its much more secure. Bminer or CN may be able to add a bit more on this.
As far as staking I am not 100% sure. I haven't tried it. I tested the wallet out with small amounts but have left most of my bag in conventional qt wallets.
As far as I know there is no staking electrum wallet out there so I am leaning towards no.

No doubt the speed is a great selling point. I don't know how fast it is but I know its almost instant when I transfer my coins. Is there a number we can attach to telling people how fast xsi is compared to others?
