XSS whole network operator has exceeded 420M of force 
So let me get this straight. I need to download the latest wallet, switch my old wallet.dat (I haven't updated since the takeover yet) into the new wallet, make a bittrex account, send my old coins over and wait for the 19th to get my new coins, then either dump or hold in another new wallet until the price hits the moon ?

You can definitely have them on order until the switch occurs on Monday.
Bittrex will halt trading at 6pm Central Standard Time, so that should just remove all current orders, but to be on the safe side, I would remove your order prior to that.
Should be ok until then though. Hope that helps.
