Verge (XVG) the next big Coin to watch in 2018

Developed in 2014 as the DogeCoinDark, and re-branded to Verge (XVG) in 2017, the XVG has been in the market for only about 3 years now.

Looking at the prices of the three years historical chart data, the value of the currency is rising very fast and this may be the nest crypto coin to watch this year.

What is really unique about Verge (XVG)?
There has to be a reason behind the strong resilient performance of XVG!

Yes. Here it is!

To begin with Verge is made to operate in a virtually untraceable environment enabling its users to make prompt anonymous transactions. Behind the scenes, Verge uses an extremely advanced blockchain technology contrary to most of the other crypto currencies. The blockchain is based on technologies such as the Tor and I2P, which conceals the personal data (IP-addresses and geolocation) of the owner or transactor.

Verge (XVG) also uses the Simple Payment Verification (SPV) technology thus making the transaction time very small to around 5 seconds.

Then there is the release of the Wraith Protocol which actually sent the prices of the (XVG) skyrocketing. Immediately after the release of the protocol the value of coin spontaneously went up to $0.24 from $0.14 at the same time, there was also a surge in the volume traded.

What is Wraith Protocol and why does it have such an impact on XVG?

In simple terms, the Wraith Protocol is an added feature of the Verge (XVG) which enables its users to shift between private and public registers/ledgers. It is specifically important when making transactions.

With Wraith Protocol, any transaction that the user makes is not recoded on the public ledger. This makes the currency completely private to an extent that even the blockchain explorers can’t trace the transactions.

From the way users reacted after its release, it shore that crypto traders are now looking for currencies which are more secure and private and Verge has just proved to be one of them. XVG has actually demonstrated that its transactions are too secure for even threats such as those posed by the quantum computers.

So, should I invest in Verge (XVG) yet or do I give it time?

This is a great opportunity to invest in Verge (XVG). Wise investors always invest in those assets which show a potential of gaining value.

After a long drop, the coin rate is gaining popularity again, so I think it's worth supporting our coin, buy it while it's cheap. It will soon cost more than 1 $

I agree...buy and HODL!  Wink

All coins has to correct or retrace in price in order to move higher. I think Verge is already one of the big boys of the cryptocurrency world. It is not going away now.
It's very nice to see that many people are still thinking about the Verge project, so it might be worthwhile to really think about it and just go and buy Verge while it's still cheap. Think faster

Technical question please:

Is importing the blockchain faster or slower than just syncing over the net? I have 5Mbps connection

faster to DL the blockchain file, then move it into place.

however, if your on a Metered line,  it might be better to Sync?  not sure then.
(maybe go somewhere for FREE dl and get the blockchain and use the Sneakernet)

Thanks I was trying to import the zipfile so I think it just silently failed and synced from the net. Somebody wrong told me to use the -loadblocks= flag with the zipfile...

Unzip it and copy the files in, duh.

Remember guys when this was less than 1 cent coin? It took a long time for us to grow this coin. Be patient in crypto. Never chase the gains.

I consider myself as new in cyrptocurrency. Before investing any cyrpto, i googled and read many comments esp in bitcointalk. People suggested OMG,IOTA, SIA. LSK,ADA,XLM..... I dont remember his name but one guy commented about XVG  that he has been in this cyrpo world for a long time and he released one thing that he saw many coins which everybody told  dead coin and he sold them because other people`s thought . After some time he was regretful to sell these coins because of BOOM happened. When i saw his comment   I just bought considerable verge at  59 satoshi cos many poeple was thingk that XVG was dead coin at that time. Im still keeping and i have not been tried even daily trading. I will not listen anybody. Cos i made one mistake with XLM by selling 0.19 dollar . So i will not do same mistake in XVG. Now i see some comment in facebook and tweeter that some people again start to think verge is dead coin and will be disappeared end of this year. And daily volume has decreased from 30000 btc to 3000 btc in binance. Its a good sign:) We will have another BOOM.

Yup, too many people fret about it - XVG is cheap enough to have a couple BTC worth of it sitting around. Not much to lose at this point - if it goes up, great, if not well you'll get your indications on whether to dump or not. I personally like the premise of the coin (functionality more than anything) - so I would like to see this as a viable option for every day transactions (small purchases etc). I'm not looking at this as the next BTC, or hell, I don't even see this going too much higher than a $1 for obvious reasons - I really couldn't care less. We just need a stable, private coin which Verge provides. Now to get vendors on-board including myself Smiley

Nobody has a crystal ball. I got tired of sitting on a bunch of xrp forever and sold them for dirt. I regret it. lesson here is balance..some short term..some long. I have seen too many coins like XVG languish forever and then..suddenly..BOOM!
Ya just never know:)

People are pumping random alts right now because BTC chain is dying and there is no profit in buying/selling it. Even if you can get 10% timing a small pump perfectly, you'll lose 8% just to the fees, and still tear your hair out waiting for the transactions to confirm.

Personally, I do my homework and invest in good coins. XVG is a nice privacy-coin so it WILL gain value as people come to realize how much governments are trying to shut down cryptos and exploit crypto customers' private data. Tor integration is a serious feature which requires real coding skills, not many other coins have this. This means the devs are excellent.

I am Glen Hoddle on verge, already taken a healthy profit, I do not need the money so tucked it away.
Three months ago I had 10,000 EOS languishing and doing nothing, worth $0.50, 50 poxy cents a coin and was going to sell them.
My mate at work reminded me that I had only invested money I could afford to lose, so I didnt need to cash in. I listened and today the same EOS is over $16 a coin.

Keep the faith my friends

For too long now, Verge has been acting like a diva who's got no skills, no talent yet demands her fans support and prop her. A penny up, couple of pennies down, that's been the track for Verge lately as it remains stuck around its average value of ~ 16 cents. Too many  Verge hodlers are so enamored with the over sensationalized hype around the coin that they've become oblivious to the bigger picture as other coins continue whizzing past Verge. This moves a penny and kids here start jumping around to the moooooon!.

I was in the same mindset sitting with a big bag of Verge counting its every move obsessively but then I realized this is not the only coin to realize my investment goals. I broke out of the mold and sold half of my XVG investment and took a position in Substratum - absolutely perfect timing and now my Sub investment has already given me a $160k profit even when it's down from its peak value of a few days ago.

Now, am not promoting any specific coin over other and I am still holding a considerable load of XVG but it is not my main focus now. As an investor, I could care less how a coin/coin community tries to portray how special a certain coin is, above all am only concerned about my ROI. There are so many other promising coins that can give us much better ROI much faster. Verge may hit 50 cents or even a dollar one day but it would be so late in the game that it will become an almost forgotten story as other coins continue to climb higher at much faster pace.

Same here.
But I'm holding most of my XVG. My profit I turned into a shit coin for StrongHand, on Doge market in Coinexchange,  I made over 900%

It doesnt matter because that is what it means by holding it in long term. You buy it and forget about it, come back months later to check it again. Few friends done that with ether and made bunch from it

As of now verge is still having a steady pace which is a good sign because most coin actually dip alot and never come back to where it was due to bitcoin crashing

Point is, there is never too late in crypto

This was not a DogeCoin fork folks. At best, this is a subset of PeerCoin. At the beginning, this was portions of AxisCoin, Shibecoin and Rootcoin.
