How tough would it be to have 2FA in a wallet for withdrawals? This is something that I haven't ever seen.

I am in fact totally new to this thread....

I have XVG coins for a while on Bittrex and would want to have them on a personal wallet.

Could your tell me where to find the up to date desktop wallet and HOW to do to install in my computer?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome.

The OP of this post will have links to the wallet you may want to use (for example: windows vs mac).

You should be able to download, install, and then open them up and let sync for a while (it may take some time for the sync part though).

If you are just trying to just get your coins off of an exchange, you can print a paper wallet and send your coins there. If you do this, and use the Verge paper wallet link, be sure to pick Verge in the drop down menu under the instructions tab, if you go straight to print, it will give you a different wallet.

ok then, thanks!

Will just keep my coins safely locally ;-)

Others will probably post some more thorough instructions, but these may give you enough to start.

ok, so the OP contains the Up To Date wallet link, thanks... did not want to take a chance.

No, want a desktop wallet, no paper ;-)

BTW, is Verge available for staking?

thanks for the little guidance.

Will see if I can install smoothly

I am pretty sure the links in the OP will be current.

Verge has a very active and accessible developer, which is one of the things that I like seeing in a currency.

Verge is not a staking coin.
It uses Proof of Work, using five different algorithms to help make the blockchain run smoothly and give different options to mine.

I can't sell as I am a top holder and at these prices I lose...and I can't do that!! Smiley  I am saying the exact same thing you are, don't expect the price to rise just because of halving....that is what I was saying as others are saying (yeah!!!  halving, price is going to rise)  I was just letting them know not to expect that!!

You gotta relax. Everyone single post you make is doom and gloom.

I am also a top holder, but I made all my money back and then some on the last big rise and so I'm in for the long haul with my stack.

Maybe you bought too high, maybe you bought too much but that's not anyone else's problem. Just relax, if you can't, this might not be for you.

Verge is one of the hodl currency. However, if you have bought it in the old times for 1 and 2 sats, you are welcome to sell at current price. However, if you hold, you can get good profits. It will rise.

Just throwing out a few ideas.

a) Any thoughts to a facebook tip bot?  It seems like you have most of the tech sites covered, but something more main stream, could really do wonders getting us out to the masses.  Can you imagine if each person tipped a couple thousand verge to each of their friends.  They would all want to see what it is they got.  It could go viral...

b) Any way to make the install include I2P or Tor automatically, and have it configured, so non technical people can click once and have a verge wallet with I2P or Tor?  I'm pretty tech savvy, but I'll admit I'm not using either I2P or Tor.   I installed I2P once, got it working, but never used it again.  I'm not sure but I think it was interfering with other things I had running.

Along these lines, if you can easily automatically install I2P or Tor, eliminate the clear net option.  This way VERGE is anonymous, not just if you configure it correctly...

c) Does coin2pay keep a vendor list somewhere.  In theory all of their vendors accept verge, would be nice if you could point the website to that list.

Love the coin, the idea and all of the work that has gone into this.  Now we need to move it from the exchanges into the real world.

a) yes i have thought about it, ill look more into it..

b) yes the next two wallets coming out are an i2p wallet and a tor wallet (they'll have tor/i2p built in)

c) that is a good question, ill check that out and report back

I've said it before but I'll say it again, if you expect the price to rise just because of a halving you don't understand crypto. Don't come to this thread to whine about it, it makes you look inexperienced. Just sell and let the adults play.

Okay, next block reward reduction is coming in just over 70 million XVG.
That's only 2.85 BtC at this mornings's last sale at 4 sats.
Just a heads up as this coin supply is getting smaller and smaller.  Cool

yep, 11k blocks til halving

Yeah but not sure what this will do as the last halving the price dropped.  With not many people even knowing about Verge, I really don't see any changes coming with the halving.  It looks as though the 4 sat wall support has gone away and 3's and 2's could be coming soon.  There just doesn't seem to be any interest as volume has been dry for months now.

that's cool you are giving your unprofessional opinion on the affect of the halving on price, but it's not needed here. you can do that in the price speculation thread, thanks.

Hey,

are there coins out there, that take snapshots of their blockchain and then delete its history as a means to save storage? I mean, if you look at Bitcoin, it has one blockchain with all the transactions since its beginning, but you wouldn't need that much information to make the system work. Could you just pick a point in time at which all miners check the blockchain for relevant information(i.e. used addresses, their balance, etc.) and delete the unnecessary stuff (mostly transaction data), then check whether all their snapshots look the same? This might decrease the size of the blockchain considerably, wouldn't it?

The supply is not getting smaller. Just the rate at which coins are produced.

Hello everyone,

for days now I've been trying to synchronzing my Windows XVG wallet, but without success.
I read and applied some ideas of this thread, like:

1) using a VERGE.conf containing the line connect=37.187.27.4

2) using a VERGE.conf containing different lines with addnode=....

3) using the wallet without a VERGE.conf

4) alternating (1) thru (3) several times

5) I already deleted several times the whole blockchain (all files but wallet.dat)

Sometimes the synching goes on for a bit, then it gets stuck again. I left the wallet running several times over night, when I look at it in the morning, it's still stuck.

With no other wallet I've ever had so many problems.

I'm using wallet version 2.1.0.0-unk-beta.

Current number of blocks 353.312
Estimated total blocks 532.079

The green bar is there at 178.767 blocks remaining, but it's stuck again.

I love the Verge coin, but with these wallet problems, it's getting a bit irritating.

Does anyone have another idea what I might try to get this sorted?

Thanks a  lot
Kay
