I was looking for a way to topup my T-mobile account with bitcoin and I found bitrefill.com. I noticed that the site accepts several altcoins as payment method too. Maybe we can ask them to add Verge to their list.

Hey also had a question on our XVG choice.  Bitcoin is BTC, Ethereum is ETH, The DAO is DAO, Lisk is LSK and others of course.

Just wondering as I know we discussed this when we changed.  We went with X because we could be listed on more exchanges, but wondering if that is hurting us in anyway on not being named in line like other larger coins.  They seem to all be on more exchanges than us, but we went with the X so we could be on more.  Doesn't appear we are there so just wondering why?

Bitcoin also uses XBT to be in accordance with the ISO code on currencies - non-country currencies stay with X, so gold is XAU, Bitcoin is XBT, Monero adopted XMR about two years ago shortly after it launched, and many other cryptos have followed suit. I think Ripple XRP or primecoin XPM may have been first after Bitcoin, not really sure.

XVG is good.

I don't believe we went with XVG for more listings, we went with XVG thinking long term, and future use.
Concerning marketing niches and the ticker,

I was thinking last night about this whole cultural movement to separate from the existing power structures, for example, that whole occupy thing, the Arab spring, the rise of anonymous, the election fraud on Scotland's independence, and now Britain leaving the EU in the Brexit... this is a trend that was no name yet... but what if we, the community with the technology to help people leave the system, actually gave it a name and currency?

"The Exit Movement" XIT
The People stand on the verge of leaving the system, and vote to exit.

We definitely shouldn't shy away from our best feature.

Leave the system, be the system, Verge.

How many time to the next halving ?

We are currently at block 483,209 and the next halving is block 546,000 so seems to be about 62,791 blocks left until.  What is that dev about 6-7 weeks away?  I think we do about 1344 blocks a day, so I think my math is right!!   Grin Grin

You are right..  i never restarted the client when i realized it was continuing to sync, so it never re-loaded the config file.

I will just remove the connect line and keep things the way they were...   you have this stuff down, don't you!!

Thanks so much for your quick responses and help.

He's glad to help.

Thank you very much... it finally found 7 connections, and re-started the sync process, but i will definitely add the connect node.

Appreciate the info!

after it syncs, you can remove the connect line from the .conf file. the connect line will force it to only connect to 1 node, the one specified. (it's suprnovas node, and is always up to date)

if you have 7 connections you may not have named the .conf correctly. it is case sensitive and has to be named VERGE.conf (in the data directory. in windows its located in C:\users\you\appdata\roaming\VERGE\)

if you have any more issues feel free to drop me a pm here or in our irc chat, im @vergeDEV in the chat room.

Downloaded ver 2.1 wallet for windows and started to d/l entire blockchain, and now have 0 contacts, at only 3000 blocks.......

I can't find any nodes for this wallet...are they needed?   Is the coin that thin, that there are no connections??

i have anywhere from 27 to 56 connections on my nodes. try adding a VERGE.conf file and putting connect=37.59.24.15 in it. that should straighten it out.

dev! upload lastest blockchain data from qt-wallet!
now wallet sync very hard and stunked in random block!

Something is wrong on your end.

My verge updated just fine to the last block. took about 3min

updated yesterday morning as well.

(and that counts Launching time...which is slow on my system)

, might want to delete your blockchain and let it resync.

g
please pack db cache in rar or zip and upload (of couse without yoyr wallet/dat)

i will do that right now for you
