Everyone should withdraw all coins of any kind from safecex.com right now.

They have a warning at their login screen saying
they have server problems
and will be shutting down soon for a month.

They're giving everyone a chance to withdraw right now.
I just did.
Otherwise they said you wont have access to your money again until it re-opens (if it re-opens)...

I would take this seriously

Hi I am trying to find the details about the MultiAlgo change to report about on our podcast this weekend.  I am curious what inspired the change and also I am interested in knowing which algo's are supported now.  Just having a little trouble finding the info in the big thread I think. Thanks!

we switched because of a massive attack on our chain to drive the diff up (attack was as high as 1.5th/s at times)

blake2s, x17, scrypt, lyra2rev2, and myr-groestl are our algos now.

Hey BlockchainDynamics!

Check out page 96 of this thread and on https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1365894.1900

thats when people start reporting of 8 hour transaction times while the network experienced its first "Hashinator" attacks sourced in China.

They had some way of mining only the headers of blocks and holding them, and then dumping all the solved blocks at once? (someone correct me on the specifics of the attacK) but it was bad and multi-algo absolutely makes sense for real decentralization anyaway. the hashinator just reminded us all about that  Cool

For the lil' bastard that The Hashinator is, it exposed our weakness, and now we're forged so much stronger from that experience. IRON SHARPENS IRON (sorry getting excited for game of thrones next week).

Look at that smooth blockchain flow we've got now  Grin

I think it would be prudent for you to join our IRC channel and talk to VergeDEV directly so that your questions are answered from the source and you have the most up to date information for your podcast.

https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.freenode.net/#Verge

VergeDEV is almost always around but his response times do vary given he recently had a baby and is managing all aspects of XVG while continuously upgrading.

Cheers-

Just downloaded/sync'ed/encrypted the Windows QT wallet and was going to buy some
coins but noticed the wallet says 'Warning: This version is obsolete, upgrade required'
so I'm holding off from investing until this is resolved.

Any ideas?

That is a little glitch that came through with the latest wallet.

Basically a non-issue.

It has already been addressed for the new wallets coming out.

edit: if you go back about fifteen pages or so, you will see that it was brought up about then.

A new wallet that fixes this bug is going to be coming out at "Soon."

please disregard the message as it means nothing - for further proof see --

My wallet popped up says obsolete and its from the website whats up?

if its in your wallet dev said just ignore it doesnt affect it on the next wallet update he said he will sort that out

yeah thats already taken care of on our source code repository. next wallet will clear that issue up.

Cheers-

How did you guys react at Cryptsy cold wallet stuff? Not good I guess? Too much down. Price have to go up to keep competing.

price was like 3-5 sat or even 2 when it was at crabtsy ... if someone able to get it he would sell without even blinking

Yeah, fuck thats true for sure... are there more coins which might be suffering from this Cryptsy drama?

Wish i could keep mining....

i had to shut down today Sad
still sweating.

Don't bother it. The price has gone way low. Buying Verge now makes more sense to mine. Or maybe you got free electricity?

I'm mining mostly to support the network, but the new algos are pretty dang efficient, you'd be surprised, but yeah buying is probably the way to go.

----

Im wondering how well a Tesla home battery and solar setup would play out for crypto, anyone running that? (not sure if theyre even available yet)

@ Zied RF

Welcome to Verge/XVG......originally the coin was started as doge-dark or doged back in Oct 2014.
The name change came earlier this year.
As you see different different pools and exchanges you will see some that have not done all their name changes in parts of their site. The name is pretty much interchangable.

Just be SURE that they have migrated to the latest wallet, as the old wallets don't work anymore.

Keep on minin'  Cool

Turn off the auto and confirm with pool operator they're on new wallet.
THEN test with a thousand or so to confirm works.
That's what I would do.....don't be a slave to an auto setting.  Roll Eyes
