Hi all,

Willing to give it a try on ckpool.
For the sake of good latency between miners and pool, I would like to know where to point nicehash or mrr miners; to USA or EUROPE?
iow: where is the stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333/4334 server located?
a tracert does bring me to the USA.

Can anyone confirm USA?

Thanks for the colourful explanation, that made me laugh thismorning.

I used "green rabbit" in the past but seems like some people thought  it's possible that one person would have a better vision than another person and thus it is not all that random, so I intentionally stressed on the importance of the color and the language of the mosquito so that people can understand that all of this is absolute randomness given that it is pretty hard to tell if said mosquito speaks Japanese or not just by the look of it.

Glad I made you laugh.  Cheesy

your goal is to shoot a green mosquito that speaks Japanese

Does this just extend the time of your run so that the average hash rate is paid for?

It does, the ups and downs you see are most likely due to NH disconnecting from CK due to so many reasons including other buyers paying more and there is no hashrate left at the rate set by Willi, the limit you set on NH is the upper limit, you are almost guaranteed to not get higher than that speed, but it doesn't mean you won't get 20% or even 0% of it at times, but what you are essentially buying from NH is "shares", from a technical standpoint, it doesn't matter if you get all your shares in 1 minute or a week, your chances and the cost per chance is going to be the same.

on the other side, economically wise, given that the available hashrate is limited per x time unit, creating massive demand in a short period would cause price increases, this holds true at least theoretically, we have seen times when some buyers would pay 5x whatever everyone else is paying and they would suck the entire hash power,  those buyers could have bought the same quantity of shares a lot cheaper had they spread their order, instead of renting 1EH for 1 hour, they might have done 0.1EH for 10 hours, the end result of what they paid in total would have been very likely a lot less.

I think it’s generally better to consolidate all the available mining power into a single, strong push to maximize the chances of solving a block. smaller shares are not frequently enough or rejected.

You will still get the same amount of rejected shares regardless, this exact point has been explained here and elsewhere, the easiest way to think about buying hashrate is to think of it as you are buying bullets from the gun shop, your money is enough for 1000 bullets, your hunting right in front of that shop (so we don't get confused with transport expenses), so it's 3 AM, you are blindfolded right in the middle of the Amazon rainforest, your goal is to shoot a green mosquito that speaks Japanese, it makes exactly zero difference whether you fire those 1000 bullets in one burst or sit there for 1000 days shooting one bullet a day, obviously unless the difficulty changes and you are now required to shot the same mosquito that speaks Japanese but has a unicorn sitting on it's back, in that case, the cost per bullet would drop and so your chances vs how much you pay will equalize again.

Only total hashes count, it doesn't matter if it's 1 or 30PH or flat or up and down. Willy is doing the right thing.

I think the drops can also be mining on 4334 if the miners don't find a share over 1m for some time the hashrate drops.
Miners didn't disconnect they just didn't submit anything in that period that was above 1m Diff.

I also wondered about the runs and realised this can be something to do with 4334 rather than miners not being connected or leaving.

I testing with 500gh/s on 4334  you will see your hashrate shows dropping by the pool when the machines are not submitting shares 1m diff or higher.

So looks a bit like disconnection.  But I think in the background the machines are still working it's just artifact of high diff share attempts.

You maybe right, but I done a 1PH solo run a couple of weeks ago now and the results were a flat 1PH almost throughout, there were only one or two points where it noticably dropped out. That was pointed at 4334. Nothing as drastic as over a 50% fall-out like on the blockparty run.

I was just concerned that Willi's team might have been loosing out without knowing about it.

But it seems he has that covered by running for longer, so no worries.

As a footnote, I wonder if Willi has the difficulty set too high so like you say the reporting would not be frequent enough.

fingers crossed, we are on the road with our Blockparty 66 at 30 PHs

@Willi9974,

I've been looking at your blockparty stats, it doesn't look very good from a sustained hash rate point.

Your hash rate is all over the place on the low side of your requested rate.

Does this just extend the time of your run so that the average hash rate is paid for?

Otherwise, the performance looks poor to be honest, if you ask for 30PH i'd expect to see that rate.

if we get less speed we also pay less and run longer
so all ok for us

So many numbers and so little time
is depending on the price it goes up and down, miner moves away and came back.
at the end the run is running longer if some miner swutching often to a higher price order.
at the end the number of shares and the one and only one share higher as the diff is importand
if i put the price up, we burn our coins to fast, speed is not all.

Best regards,
Willi

Thanks Willi, that doesn't sound too good to me to be honest. But what do I know.

I'd expect to get what you pay for 30PH with some small variance but not big drops like you're seeing.

Anyway, best of luck. I hope 66 is a win for you all.

Cheers

G.

I think this is the first time I've seen 200% diff or pool luck, though I'm relatively new here. Good luck everyone, hope the next Block drops soon.
Frustrating, but it's happened a few times before and perfectly normal variance.

I've never really understood the meaning of this statistic. Could you explain it a little in simple terms?

Thanks

G.

P.S. Good luck Willi & Blockparty 66.

Hi team!!

Newbie here trying to configure my Antminer T21 to solo mine. What am I doing wrong?

I have a high speed internet connection here in Aus - connection to ck pool is around 220 ms ping.

I put mining address   stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333   miner name mybtcwallet.Bmine32 and Password as 123

and I see [common code] appear top right corner and the miner reboots to previous settings!! Aaargh!!!

I can ping the ckpool address no problems, but bitcoin wallet address is correct and regardless of password entry I still get the same error.

What am I doing wrong?

UPDATED and SOLVED

Just in case others come across this, I found a firmware update and applied - still no luck. So I then reset the miner to factory settings and voila!! The pool is now operating correctly!
