However, converting that to 1 in Xyears is incorrect.

Then why do you do it in your calculator?

Simply coz it caters for people with enough hash rate to get a valid number there also.
I guess if you enter a small hash rate I could ban you from seeing that number if you thought that was appropriate ... ... ... ... ...
However, no one has ever donated a single satoshi to that web site in the years it's been there, so I only change it when I feel like it, not when people complain about it trying to cover their mistakes Smiley

I guess it would help if you actually bothered to look what's there also ...
Scroll down and it allows you to estimate the diff change and thus get a BTC estimate based on your choice of diff changing.

Yep, caters for all sorts of people to get estimates Smiley

By "custom" he meant the antpoo fork of cgminer...
And here all this time I thought Bitmain made miners and ran a pool.  Shocked
Thanks for letting me know that the pool makes the miners.  Roll Eyes

By "custom" he meant the antpoo fork of cgminer, which is notorious for incorrectly reporting the best share, among other things.

If your "machines" are ASIC's with custom versions of CGMiner then they may have broke a portion of the code that reports the best share.  That's the explanation I've seen when others have asked that anyway.

Just a WAG,
Sam
No more custom than any other S7 or S9

Think for yourself
On to something that actually matters to me...

I have a question that I'm not sure if goes here or in ckpool/proxy, but here goes:

Firstly, I'm aware that "best share" doesn't really "matter" (especially so soon after reboots); however, I despise synchronization issues.

That being said:
I'm running all machines through ckproxy.
I have a 28,181,771(.733868394) best share reported by the site.
I have a 76,532,480 report from machine 1
I have a 42,359,439 report from machine 3
I have a 37,693,724 report from machine 8

Any idea why the mis-match?

...You are, however, arguing with Kano which will get you banned or jumped on by half the community. Just a heads up.

Initially, I wasn't going to respond to that part, but....

It leads me to ask, "If two grown men on a site can't have a rational conversation (heated or otherwise) without one one of them getting banned (or uninvolved 3rd parties 'jumping on' one of them), should a grown man care if he gets banned from such a site?"

Now, that's not to say I want to be banned; just that all ongoing conversations are 2-way exchanges and I have better things to worry about than if random strangers get butthurt over random comments on the interweb.

Go Big or Go Home.....
I brought up the same question about my reported best shares being much higher than the pool status page bestshare, yet was told to 'Not worry about it'... So who knows.  Lips sealed

As for your bestshare issue, it could be due to mining at a different site. One of your rollovers maybe.
I have enough faith in ck that I only had 1 set and it was solo.ckpool.org. Cry

I find I'm liking your logical mind more and more. You are, however, arguing with Kano which will get you banned or jumped on by half the community. Just a heads up.

5.5THs gives:

Chance of you finding a block in one day:    1 in 1,929.6
...

I'd be surprised if anyone found that hard to understand.

However, converting that to 1 in Xyears is incorrect.

That being said, imo, most n00bs are not going to understand what "1 in 1,929.6" means in answer to the question "What are my chances..." (even if they use the word "probability").
Then that's a perfect time for them to do a little reading and *gasp* maybe actually learn something new!  God forbid people actually try to learn and become bigger people and figure out what they are spending their time doing.

Network difficulty, changing every 2 weeks, makes a 1 month prediction unreliable, let alone a 1year prediction.

On that much we agree.

... or from my calculator Smiley

Yes, because the variance between "4.8-5.6 years"(from my calculations) and "4.8-5.8 years"(from your calculator) is significant, right? Undecided
The point of my post, and my calculator, is to word it in a valid way, that's why my calculator says it that way.
You'll find further down you can do a longer term estimate by guessing at the diff change, but certainly not years Tongue

Network difficulty, changing every 2 weeks, makes a 1 month prediction unreliable, let alone a 1year prediction.

However, saying the chances in finding it in 1 day is useful and correct Smiley

Good. Thank's. I'll wait for good luck).
What is the probability of finding a block with a capacity of 5-6 Th? There have been cases?

5.5THs gives:
Quote
Chance of you finding a block in one day:    1 in 1,929.6

Which will of course change every diff change (every 2016 network blocks - about every 2 weeks)

What is the probability of finding a block with a capacity of 5-6 Th? There have been cases?
Assuming no difficulty change:

On average ~ 1 block every 4.8-5.6 years. (could be 1 block today and nothing for 5 years, 1 block every 5 years, 5 blocks this week and nothing for 20 years, or 5 blocks 20 years from now - it all depends on luck)
It's been done with less.

Does anyone here have found a block? How do I know that my miner found a block?
As the thread title says, 187 blocks have been found here. If you get a big fat payment in your wallet, that's how you know you've found a block... plus I announce every block solved in this thread.
And who solved, you also announce?
Only their bitcoin address, yes... Look back two or three pages and see the last few announces for yourself.
