do I need to install a wallet on my PC ?
My advice to all of you is - you are using a distributed cryptocurrency whose strength is the ability to do away with the need for intermediaries and banks, so don't go looking for a bank. By all means learn how to properly secure and back up a wallet yourself before storing lots of money on your own PC, but use the cryptocurrency the way it was meant by using your own light or full node wallet. Install a wallet now and play with it with small amounts, but take my full advice of what else is required to make the most of it.

I started a reply before I read this, reminded me a while back when I was solo mining LTC/DOGE to an exchange address. I found a block but never got credit and their support said they didn't recognize mined blocks as a valid transaction???, learned the hard way.
Same here. I did the same thing with LTC/DOGE solo mining. Lost 3 DOGE blocks that way.

I just installed the latest Bitcoin Core and pointed my miners to it, I am not taking any chance.

You should confirm from coinbase or someone with experience with coinbase if they support generation transactions. It would suck to use their online wallet and found out you solved a solo block and then you can't receive it =P.
