Only thing I can think of is  latency. I believe the pool's server is in the usa so probably westhash would be better but I'm no expert.

Was thinking about renting some hash to throw here but started to wonder if there is a difference if I rent that hash from Westhash or  Nicehash? Any thoughts on that.

"bestshare": 39920950.857848018

My machines are pretty consistant at finding shares in the 107 - 108 range.  I just got into mining a couple months ago, about 700gh/s, and have yet to get a share in the billions.  But it's all chance, and that block busting best share could be right around the corner...

The latest version of the pool software has been up for over a month so the earlier instability seems resolved (and more importantly quite a few blocks were solved in that time). I'll be restarting it shortly to pull in the latest changes.

EDIT: Done.

Thanks for the update.  It is good to hear that the previous issues were resolved.  Now let's all find a block  Grin

Go Big or Go Home.....
Pool ok? My stats say almost no hashes, even though I'm pointing 860Gh at it.
Been going down for about half an hour.

pool seems fine, check your miner it could be that

You're right. Weird. 2 Different miners stopped hashing to the pool but show hashes being sent. Switched another miner and it seems fine. LOL

Mine at Jonny's Pool
Guys using pool btc calculator http://tradebtc.net/bitcalc.php

 i entered 4ths and i got this

Your Average 1diff Shares per Minute:    55,879.3545 shares/min

does that means 4ths power has 55,879 in 47,610,564,513 (current difficutly) chances a minute to find a block of bitcoins?

All shares submitted does is shows the pool you are working to solve the block.  The number submitted has to do with the difficulty you are mining to the pool at.  It has nothing to do with the odds of solving a block.

Yes it does mean that. That's the correlation between diff and shares. Each 1 diff share has 1 in 47billion chance of finding a block.

It might just be me but it doesn't seem that far fetched for a 300ghs machine submiting 4,190.9516 shares/min  to have a decent chance at finding a block.

another question if the difficulty is 47 billion is there in turn 47 billion diffrent shares? or is every share a random number that just appears after it is hashed?

say i hash 1 share and it is 30,230 can someone else find the same 30,230 share or is there only one until the block is solved?
LOL... You have a far different definition of decent chance than I do.  Anyway, to answer your question about shares, miners can submit the same difficulty share many times.

Rougly calculated 4190 diff1 shares per minute and Difficulty at 49 billion leads to 7789 days to find a block or 21 years; depends on what you call decent  Wink

As for the shares that you hash, those are random hence the luck involved in mining (more hashrate means more shares calculated which means more chances to get lucky).

I just saw i could rent about 125ghs for around $54 for 4 months not a bad lotto ticket.

You could buy a used S1 for about that and have 200ghs for as long as you want.  I'll sell you one + psu if interested.

The power cost is missing  if he rents power is 0.  If he mines power is ?

Power cost is the main reason for renting my electricity rate is .13 in nj

I'm double that in California, but I enjoy the hardware aspect of mining, too.  (obviously I don't mine for profit)

Ok, I see what you did in the explanation: Each 1 diff share has 1 in [network difficulty] chance of finding a block.  I missed the 1 diff part of the post I replied to.  1 difficulty being the key, because depending what your miner difficulty is in the pool results in how many shares (at that diff) you submit.

Correct?
Effectively yes.
A higher diff N share has N chances in D (network diff) of being a block. Though it is still 1 share.
