42,4% rightnow, whats happening ?!

Totally unexpected  Roll Eyes

SegWit on BTC sooner that you think.
Since there's only a block every ten minutes, one day estimates are pretty inaccurate.

If you want to find out how much actual support each solution has, just look at which pools support each solution on coin.dance and then add up their hashrate on Blockchain's hashrate distribution chart.

Unless the pools which support each solution have changed, the hashrate won't change significantly.

The seven day blocks mined are going to be more accurate as well, but still subject to variance.

nothing really, you are making the same mistake as those BU advertisers make. and the mistake being that you think this percentage is hashrate. it is not it is blocks mined by the hashrate. and finding a block is kind of a chance based thing so you find 10 blocks one day and 9 blocks the other and 11 the next (or something like that) and with that, the percentage showing on that site fluctuates.

as far as i can remember the same miners were signaling SegWit and nothing has changed about their hashpower so far.

SegWit on BTC sooner that you think.

lets hope so

SegWit on BTC increased 5% today.

SegWit support now bigger than BU.

Thanks for voting guys.

The miners will go for SegWit.

@York, apologies I know this is a ridiculous question, but what would be your absolute best guess when bitcoin may hit the mainstream as you are referring to above?

In terms of price?
Sky is the limit.
When Bitcoin has implementated scaling solutions like SegWit and other improvements 10k should be a realistic target in the upcoming years.

It's extremely annoying when people quote the entire screenshot while you can just snip it. It clutters the thread unnecessarily.

Regarding the cup pattern ~ eventually, all time high peaks will turn out to be the new bottoms. Current situation is no exception.

In this case I do expect a correction to happen in the coming weeks. My guess is a bottom of around $1200 where it will then slowly move up towards the current levels.

The price can't go up continuously in current tempo. Especially when you consider that panic buying has been a massive trigger in the last days. I prefer a calm market for now.

True.

I only dont see a big correction coming short term.
BTC has had many corrections and I think that the market gets tired of all those panic FUD dumps while they all know that the price will recover in 2 days.
Volatility is decreasing, flash crashes are becoming a rare event in BTC.
True.  Surprisingly, the Bitcoin Volatility Index is under 2%.  I had expected that it would be higher considering how big the rises have been recently.

Could be temporary though.  It was very stable for a long period in 2016, doesn't mean that it'll sustain.  The liquidity is still low enough for the price to fly around at any time.
Short term, yes because new countries are joining BTC (Japan, Russia, India)
Long term volatiliy will decrease more.
That is the time BTC will go mainstream and will be worth , well... A LOT.

york780, what do you think of the biggest ETH "BIT" being reviewed by SEC right now? I think this info had impact on BTC price.

Barry Silbert's Bitcoin Investment Trust offered whopping $1 billion in shares! Their previous offer was 'just' $500 million.
After SED disproved COIN ETF I usually disregarded news about other ETFs, but these numbers are huge. Will it make a difference this time?

If the SEC aproves an ETH ETF Bitcoin will have an huge correction because Bitcoin couldnt pull that off ( Coin ETF still getting reviewed but approval changes are small (10%)).

Lets focus on the differences between ETH and BTC.

ETH centralized, controlable (manipulative) -> can be regulated

BTC decentralized ( cant be regulated)

So on this one ETH has an huge advantage.
Also the influence of big investors like Microsoft and JPMorgan will put some pressure on the SEC's desicion.

Also a big advantage for ETH.

ETH has an infinite supply of tokens.
I think that the SEC wont approve an ETH ETF.
They cant protect investors from a company that just can produce more 'shares' when they want to.
Also all the ETH related ICO's arent popular for the SEC.

ETH has a smaller marketcap than BTC, the SEC likes a big marketcap because it offers a stability and invest insurance/safety.
BTC has a advantage over this one.

ETH is still new tech, with many challenges ahead (difficulty BOMB , ETC/ETH , not scalable)

ETH also has a bad reputation because of the DAO.

This are the most important differences between ETH and BTC (ETF related).

I think that ETH ETF wont get an approval yet, but it will in the future IF ETH changes the things I pointed out.
But an ETH ETF is more likely than an BTC ETF in my opinion.
The first crypto backed by an ETF will be the n1 marketcap.

I expect a big selloff of the ETH tokens when the ETF gets denied (bubble + ATH ,  no support , look how it happened with BTC)
ETH isnt safe enough for an ETF.

York

I am ready to get in the game, but when will be a good time to make my first purchase?

BTC's price is still in the channel like I posted yesterday like I predicted.
Wait for a clear breakout to confirm a good entry on short term.
Long term is a big buy right now.

It seems like you want a to get in ASAP, so watch the channel I made :

UPDATE :

Looks like BTC will have a bullish break upwards to me.
But let the channel confirm this first to be sure  Smiley

Happy trading all.

When does the count of your triangle end York?

Rightnow.
Thats exactly why we saw a little increase.
BTC still seems to be bullish.

UPDATE :

BTC broke out of the triangle :

Maybe it needs a little bit more consolidation because to me it looks like a weak breakout.

No dip will occur this weekend.

Short term is also up.

Keep holding your coins guys and dont let those whales play you.

Kind regards,

YORK

Price indeed could continue to go parabolic for some time, but it would detrimental to both duration and eventual top of this bull trend.

Both retest of 1200 and/or staying at current price level for week+ would build confidence. You are spot on, man.

Hi York, bullish break means the price will stall? Or their will be a selling that gonna made that will cost the price of bitcoin to fall a bit? If their is a fall of the price then its probably the best time to buy again. But what do you think will be the price if ever they fall to a certain level?  > or < $1000?

No, bullish means we break from current triangle above. Either retesting last ATH or breaking through with next stop at 2000.

Breaking down would probadly result in retest of 1150-1200 level. Sub 1000 is extremely unlikely anytime soon as we are in upwards moving channel and havent seen any high volume correction, that would question it.
