Congratulations Agbe for reaching hero member though you already have enough merits to reach Legendary rank so we should celebrate your ranking up to Legendary in advance. I have been giving advice to newbies that getting merits is not possible and should not be the first thing to focus or to achieve. By making posts that are helpful will make the merits running towards you or make the merits chase you in that matter. However, am quite sad that newbies nowadays are always asking how to get merits, how growth are measured here and many more bla bla bla whatever they think instead of using search engine and pinned threads in the forum. I just want a forum in the first place to be a place of knowledge exchange, and not a place of work. 

I have been absent from the forum for about 4 years, so I am still only in the Hero rank, although I have registered since 2016. I've seen the heyday of ICOs, the boom of scam signature campaigns, and so on.

The truth is that merit depends on a lot of factors and one of which is the board you post in.
Many local boards are the best place to get merit but mine is not. A lot of the factors also depend on the content, vocabulary, writing skills etc.
But what OP have achieved that is a great motivation for me as well as others.

There are very few users like you in this bitcointalk forum because there are very few knowledgeable and experienced people like you. I just cross checked your post history, and I want you to improve on yourself. You have a good write up but it is too concise therefore, you can expand it to have a quality post. This is the small advise I have for you. Forum is the best place to learn bitcoin  and if you have a physical coach to teach you, it will also help you but I learnt everything in the forum.

I know it wasn't easy, but with hard work and determination you were able to scale through and today the rest is history, because you are one of the those whose success I saw it forthcoming due to how active and contributive you have always been each time a forum discussion is raise, offering vital points that addresses such cases, of which has resulted to your massive success within this short period of 365 days.

I can remember having you on my first forum signature campaign "Bit Lucy" as a member rank months ago with you having just very few merits, only for me to check months later and saw your rapid growth/merits running in 100s, and that got me thinking that how is that possible, that maybe you might be related to either "Theymos" or "Satoshi" for you to have grown so fast, not only did I forget that all those were as a result of the quality forum contributions you made. And as such anyone can do the same, only if he or she is ready and willing to work hard and never give up just like "Agbe" never gave up.

You are amazing with your achievement 785 Merits in one Year Anniversary, seems difficult for me how to earn many points merit and follow your step with short term have earn 785 merits. Your merit come from global board not only with local board because have several user active in local board only and their merit dominance on local without get on global.

Until right now you still received merit points and have been enough reach as Legendary account level by waiting enough activities, some time jealous with the other how easy get merit points but one side become motivate for my self increasing up qualities post and want to push up with merit points every day if possible.

Your claim looks genuine enough because your account was created in 2016 and so far you are still a member, it shows that you are not really into ranking up as faster as possible, but we are not the same, OP might see this whole thing as a challenge or just a desire to achieve a higher rank, but I have read some of OP comments and contribution, I am amazed at how good he really his, not all those that hunt for merits are looking for merit like I've said, some are just pretty good at making contributions, and good contributions attracts more merits than mediocre contributors.

Maybe I am late to the party but it's better late than never.
Agbe congratulations fo your achievements 785 earned merits in just 365 days or 1year is pretty good enough to say that you are truly contributing quality topics here in our community. And now you are A hero member and have a current merit 1049 merits count which is all you need is to gain more activity to rank up the last rank here in forum which is legendary. But to be honest, I don't really understand the position of people hunting exclusively merit. And setting it as a goal.

Merit was invented in order for participants to make productive posts, support topics with unique content. They also gave valuable advice to beginners.
That is, they were useful - but the reward in the form of merit will already find them herself.

It's just that if you hunt only for merite, you get the feeling that a person is only looking for profit on the forum, and he doesn't care what it's about, and what ideas are being promoted.

Congrats to you @Agbe , guess the hard part is out of the way and in a few months or so of getting the required activity.. those 5 golden coins will be glued next to your name. I suppose  it pays off to be active on the forum and this should be what most need to understand and be told to get these forum nuggets (merit).

After three (3) months of creating this thread, I have finally achieved the Legendary Member Merits through The Sceptical Chymist, Brainboss and others. The way I have waited for the Hero Member to come will be the same way to the Legendary Member Rank. I really appreciate The Sceptical Chymist for his generosity. You are right, I am among the few users who have experienced the reward of merits system since I registered some months ago and I can gain the needed merits and activities to be a senior member here in the forum today, but I read somewhere around the forum where it is mentioned that before 2018 there was no need for merits to rank up and what determined your rank then was activities.

Until this very moment,  activities are still very important in the ranking up system, since anyone can gain any amount of merits at any time, but activities on the other hand activities must be waited out just like in the case of ops, he gained the requirement merits for legendary already but activities wise he is still a long way far from being legendary, I guess the must important thing is to be active and constantly put out quality of posts you make per time.

Merit is given though not really given just because you need it but it is given to anyone who post with good or high quality posts. You are a newbie which is very obvious in forum rank but don't know the level or rank when it comes to knowledge but you don't have to be like agbe or have the same goal as agbe earning 785 merits in 365. You may be thinking that I can't do it since it is a lot of merits then why not make your own goal like  500 merits in total but no time frame or 250 merits in 365 days. Depends on you on how many merits you set in your goal to achieve it. Good luck.

Thou am a newbie, but when I heard of merit I thou merit Is been given when ever you post in here, until I discover the meaning of merit.
Merit is the quality of being particularly good or worthy, especially so as to deserve praise or reward,it doesn't matters the amount of posted, if it doesn't impact something novel to to get merit.

I think if you are a good writer and have some luck creating a "viral" thread it's easy to get a lot of merit.

There is one guy I saw today who has almost 2000 merit even though he is only 9 months in the forum, that's actually crazy.
I think the hard part of reaching legendary is the "activity" aspect since in a year you can only collect a maximum of
364 while for legendary you will need between 775 and 1030 activity

If you keep walking your path I am convinced you will reach legendary as soon as it's possible, activity wise.

Wrong assumptions will create an unfavorable impression, criticism needs to be addressed wisely and then the contents of the criticism are properly digested. Criticism is another person's concern for us, it needs to be accepted with open arms to correct ourselves so that we can learn from the mistakes that have been made. The impact of criticism will make someone better than before, they will continue to learn from mistakes to prevent the same mistakes from happening in the future.

For @OP he is heading towards legendary rank from the merits perspective as he needs 79 more merits which he can achieve fast but the long wait is still there as you see the activity part is still low.So it would take him more months to reach that target.

See I know you might have come across this thread now but as a suggestion I would say to you not to bump up old threads unnecessarily and make contributions on more recent threads.

You're absolutely right, some people takes criticism as insult, but it never be one, the objective of criticizing or addressing people in forum especially the newbies is to correct their impact and also motivate them for taking precaution in some of their response.

Because 1 merit is 0.5 sMerit, so the OP still has around 44 sMerit that haven't been used. But no one is going to force him to spend all those sMerits as long as he doesn't find a quality post. Not spending sMerit in 20 days is also not a reason why OP doesn't contribute to other people's achievements, he can still do anytime if he finds a quality post.

About the OP's success getting 700+ merit in a year, I think it should be one that can motivate a lot of other newbies. While it may not be true that they tend to think of merit in every post they make, the focus remains on the quality of the post regardless of whether someone will post merit or not. But OP, congrats on your achievement, it must be great because you managed to grow so fast.

During my short stay here in the forum, it has come to my notice that users have always complained that getting of merits is always a hard task and seeing what you have accomplished has really clear my doubt about user earning merits from quality posts.
Me myself i already gotten 6merits already in my account so I  think much can be achieved when we just put our mind into what we do and post quality posts and merits will surely come.

It's possible to earn more merits than anyone has; it was impossible since no had broken the monopoly of merit earnings and -- no one would believe that fillipone could go that far when he started -- neither did anyone believe in you but, you proved yourself.... Kudos!

I admit, getting 785 Merit in one year is not an easy job that can be done by anyone, but you can do it in your own way. Merit will never come to someone who does not want to try, without a contribution to the forum it is very difficult to get Merit.
You managed to captivate the generous people in the forum with the quality of the posts you have, they will not carelessly issue sMerit on posting under forum standards. The amount of Merit you get almost brings you to the highest rank in the forum, with the quality you have you will soon be able to reach Legendary rank.

Hopefully Newbies can be inspired after seeing this topic, they need a mental boost to always improve the quality of posts that can lead them to higher rankings.

I never gave up, many times I made mistakes and later learned from those mistakes but never gave up. Your success will motivate many more members who could not rank up due to lack of merits. Don't try to become an attention seeker basically by making too many non-sensical threads, help others if you have the knowledge, and have a good understanding of the english language (which you have imo) and you should be fine. Most newbies join and get too much excited at first sight by looking at the ways of earning in the forum and they start shitposting since the beginning to gain rank faster. But, the main thing is first you must LEARN then EARN.

This is the motivation I need. It is also a pointer to what lies ahead if I contribute genuinely to the growth of the forum. Since I registered, a couple of my posts have been deleted by moderators and it always makes me feel sad. I have also gotten very critical comments too but then if you can do it, then it is also possible for me too.

I understand the need that some people have to share their achievements, but I don't understand why someone who should have already understood some things on the forum does not know that this board is not the place for such topics. This belongs to Reputation, regardless of what can be considered motivation for beginners - although let's be honest, there are few who can get 700+ merits in 365 days, regardless of how many such topics they read.

No matter how pleasant it is to create a separate topic dedicated to your own achievements (I confess, I also have one - Beginers dream of becoming a Legendary, and my goal is Hero. ), Agbe could post this post in BitcoinGirl.Club's special topic - Announce your rank up, merit or any achievements that makes you feel great!. It would be more correct, despite the importance and value of this event for OP.

It was a surprise for me to be on the list of nicknames that motivated Agbe to be active and achieve his personal merits. Why? Because the mentioned individuals are of a completely different caliber than me and my achievements are very modest against their background. But I'm glad that my activity on this forum inspired someone (in principle, this is what I discussed about a year ago in my thread - link above) and fills me with a pleasant feeling. Perhaps this is one of my most valuable achievements on the bitcointalk.

Instead you developed a thick-skin, reevaluated, strategized and came back stronger. I can remember reading your reports on teaching school-kids, religious people, community leaders about bitcoin. I say there's more to see from you.

The objective of criticism is not to demotivate one, but rather should be to push one to learn from their supposed mistakes and create better content. Admittedly, some members here talk down on lower ranks when correcting and some newbies see harsh, constructive criticism as a slight. But the actually purpose of criticism remains and it should not push anyone to give up.

I checked with several your post have excellent quality and I don't think difficult with your ideas writing in this forum to earn more merit. Seems one step closer with your merit achievement become "legendary" account just waiting activity up.

Maybe you can give us guide about which one thread have large chance with merit contributing, I think can help many user still have lower account rank and increase up with merit earn.

You used your signature campaign money for a good cause, raised awareness about Bitcoin in your village and well deserved those merits. I see a lot of people whining about merit system instead of doing something valuable. As you guys can see, those who produce useful and interesting content are rewarded.

You definitely archive a lot when you don't give up. It's the theme behind every motivational message, not to give up but, there is a trick to it. A trick that requires you to not just let your falls be your your failure, not to let them be your setback but serve a purpose as something to learn from, something to trace back as to how far you've come and points to where you are headed.
Its a lofty merit points you've got there in just a year and I must say, your doing great for yourself forum wise. I hope you are doing just as much as much in what bitcoin of cryptocurrency really is. I don't think we can score that but only you can.

I always evaluate good posts at least though not the best. The forum is a space where you can learn a lot of things related to cryptocurrency. You have to learn and contribute. It's hard to earn mertis for spammers, not for the good contributor. Just keep up your contribution.

Consistency and holding onto your convictions are necessary to succeed at any level in life. You will succeed if you truly believe you can. That's what you showed.

Consistency is key, your journey is one that every newbie should emulate. If a newbie stays active and read the forum for 365 days they'll definitely within these period make a content that will fascinate the whole forum which will result to multiple merits. I appreciate your quality efforts and having a deadline is also important in getting good results. However, members, within themselves, should also learn to celebrate their activities counts just like others celebrate merits especially if the activities were useful to the forum. You are doing a great job too and people learn from your posts, though you may not be merited enough by members, but your quality efforts and precious time spent here matters. Don't relent because you've got lesser merit counts, some have more activities while others have more merits and we all need them to rank up. Not all good posts will get merited by many users, but it counts in the activity section and you only need merits to rank just like OP needs activity count to climb up to hero and legendary rank respectively. The difference is waiting for time and people. Keep it up mate, the knowledge you've harnessed within a short period is quite commendable.

I don't also see the posting and ranking up as a stressful journey because this forum is not a task that must be accomplished or a conventional institution that certificate will be awarded, so you need to work yourself out before ranking up, and no need to envy those that have tons of merits because that is a reflection of two things which are.
1: merits can be gifted
2: merits can be earned through quality content
But in some cases, several merits do not equal the quality of the user work we still have those whose merits were airdropped during the early days of merit introduction.

Stressful? I do not think it is stressful. What I have noticed is that this forum repelaced some time I spent on Facebook and some other social media, I only just focus on Twitter and YouTube while this forum is the third which makes it not stressful for me.

Posting and ranking up is very enjoyable.

However, some people can't do that but there's a way to earn merit evem though the merit count is not the same as what you have earned. Let's just say, you can earn 250+ or more within 7 months. I was not very much active in posting before but I managed to earn 250 merits within 7 months and that's why I ranked up to hero member rank. My point is, you don't have to be someone else to earn the same amount of merits, less or more merits but as yourself and see how many merits you can earn through your own way and effort.
