The charge is for both generation and distribution. Bill total divided by total KW used was a bit shy of $0.15/KW, but it would obviously go up with more mining since any more power used would be at $0.25/KW.
Grrr, this is a total ripoff. Probably SCE transmission cables are gold plated like Monster cables Cheesy

Just got my bill and I spilled into Southern California Edison's tier 3 billing so $0.25/kw  Shocked

I think that's the generation charge only for Tier 3 (I have SCE too).  If you add Delivery/Transmission and taxes you go close to $0.35 per KWh.  It sucks too that Tier 3 is only about 80 KWh because Tier 4 goes over $0.40 and Tier 5 goes past $0.50  Angry

That's why I have to mine offsite from my house  Angry

there are no tiers on my current plan.  for the last 6mo it's been ~8c/kwh,

this is near Tyler, Tx

Natural gas prices, which dictate the market price of wholesale electricity, remain at record lows.    (well, for this area anyway)

but, there is this other plan, where the first 1500 kwh is 10.9c, next 1000kwh is 9.3c, and all kwh after that is 6.9c

then this "Large Power" plan where the minimum bill is $475, with rate of 5.14c

all the poor wind farms that cant even get their electricity on the grid
Wow which provider provided this Large power plan in TX? I wanna check the availability in Houston!

See why I need FPGAs.....

Yup, FPGAs (and even more so the ASICs promised) will make the cost of electricity less of a factor for a period of time.

That's why there has been only relatively small increases in the hashing capacity even though a lot of FPGAs have been shipping -- the GPUs are being decommissioned in high cost (for electricity) areas.  Some GPUs are getting bought by those with low cost of electricity but you can only add so many GPUs before you need to start doing rewiring or bigger fans to remove heat, etc.

UTAH Or USA, lol

6 cents per KW/H after you hit a certain level it drops to 5 cents 4, etc... the basic monthly fee is 3.50 plus usage..

( I know, I should have started mining a long time ago, didnt realize my city owned its own windmill energy farm/system and we get a heck of a deal since we sell most of our power out of state)

WOW that's amazing...... It seems like some places have cheap $kwh but what about hidden charges? such as: a user being charged a $385 per year grid rental....

Are any of you getting charged large fee's ontop of the kwh rate?

There is a flat rate of $7.00 a month on top of normal charges...

Not sure if were still the cheapest in the county or not. I know we had the cheapest a few years ago.

Wow... Seems complicated..... so the $385 per year is for the grid rental. We (Ontario Canada) have charges for delivery of power.... flat rate montly fee...

$16 for a pint of beer seems very expensive... I guess  it depends where you live....

ouch.. so 385 bucks a year just because they can?

Yes, although $385 is not really that much. We are amongst the most expensive countries in the world. My monthly train commute is more. A pizza + coke in a restaurant is $50. 0.5 liter of beer can costs $16 at some bars.

I don't know if it is like this in other countries. I pay one company for connection to the grid and transport of power. In Norwegian it is called "nettleie", directly translated "grid rent". And I pay another company for the electricity. The latter I can choose freely.

Gotta love demand meters with KVAR checks on commercial buildings. Demand charges are close to $15.00/kw when exceeding contract levels.

That is including taxes, grid rent, power certificates etc. Everything excluding the yearly connection fee of $385. Btw. running on hydroelectricity.
