I mean, I've never done drugs myself so I can't speak on behalf of first hand knowledge, but I will say that I don't think there is much benefit in making them illegal. The demand for drugs is extremely inelastic as these things are very addictive, and this placing legal measures only forces drug addicts to use more desperate measures to get their stuff. I also think it is a but foolish to arrest people and throw them in prison for non-violent drug offenses.
In our country if you do drugs or caught doing drug you will be arrested and if they also caught you selling drugs whatever drug it is. A weed or an ecstasy and etc and you fight back they wont take any effort to arrest you. They will kill you immediately. Our country's president does not tolerate any of those drugs. Philippines does not have freedom when it comes to those drugs.

I have no plans of taking them but I acknowledge that the standard way of fighting drugu use is not effective. Ideally people should never be able to use them so they won't get hooked but everyone knows the black market thrive simply because it's illegal. This means it'll be more expensive and the manufacturers/growers earn more.
I guess the statistics would be different per country. Most of the crimes here in my country are committed by addicts while high on meth. Heck, I even knew someone who died while foolishly trying to steal while high. It seems to me that those high on meth have their decision-making impaired while retaining coordination. Someone really hammered on alcohol would have a hard time going around stealing stuff because they'll be too clumsy.
Methamphetamine is a hard synthetic drug, which is much more dangerous than soft natural drugs such as Marijuana. One of the reasons why people use Meth is due to the unavailability of the soft drugs.
The problem is we really don't have a good way of solving the problem, not just with drugs but other addictions. Don't like drunks roaming the street? Ban alcohol! And then what happened during Prohibition? War on Drugs? How long is that going on and how effective was it?
Simply just attacking the supply side of the problem don't seem to do anything...

People want freedom. If you stop them from being free in the simple ways - like growing their own marijuana - they will find other ways to do the same thing. Meth and multitudes of other extremely dangerous recreational drugs are a direct offshoot of making pot and simple coke illegal.
IMHO, any attempt at legalization should go hand-in-hand with an improved mental health program. Some people get into drugs and alchohol due to peer pressure. Hopefully if kids are educated about this, they'll be less likely to try it. You don't always have to fit it, especially if doing so will have a high price.
Some people also start using them due to thrill-seeking or coping to problems. I think the latter would be manageable if there is greater access to counseling and if improving mental resilience is taught to people.
I also read that some people are genetically prone to addictions. If the results of the genetics test would only be shown to the person tested, then maybe he/she can adjust for it, if ever it was shown he/she is vulnerable?

Are you referring to America's overmedication? I did read about that in news before. Gonna love Ritalin, of course Big Pharma always have your best interest in mind.
I'm not hoping we'll be forced to take meth everyday though, hehehe. I just want safe alternative for people who do try to experiment. What is ideal is one that is trippy enough, but not enough that you'd go around raping every hole you see. Preferable one that the body can't build a resistance to avoid that problems druggies have that they have to take larger and larger doses.
If there's enough of these "alternatives" in the market, maybe people would just experiment among them than risk looking for drugs that are listed as illegal.

You need to reflect and be able to explain to yourself absolutely and sincerely why it is you want to stay away from drugs, it's a matter of trusting yourself and adhering to your own word absolutely ... and the best way I've found to trust myself is to start building a sensible life philosophy. Personally I've found that confused thought leads to disorder, which perpetuates confusion and that leads to all things like fear and uncertainty and second guessing ... and many drugs, particularly alcohol, confuse my thoughts and breed chaos in my life. With this in mind alcohol no longer holds any appeal.

I think that you can not help a real addict. These people are lost to society.
They should at least be given a chance. Completely detoxify them and try to pinpoint the reason why they started using drugs and why they kept on doing it.
Why they started using!? Easy. The fun of examining your mind from different angles. The pleasure of playing with your emotions in new ways. A method of escape from the reality of anti-drug laws.
