It may improve brain function now, but what about in 15-20 years when your risk of having schizophrenia or some other psych issue has increased 10-fold?

Instead of making wild claims, why don't you post the proof here, from reputed journals or studies? Even I can make wild claims supporting recreational drugs. But the thing is that if you want others to take you seriously, then you must post the evidence to support your claims.

Smoke more. After all, won't it heal your lungs, too?     Grin

Harvard Study: Smoking Cannabis Actually Improves Brain Function

Preliminary findings from McLean Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and Tufts University indicate that pot actually improves cognitive performance.

Don't believe the hype – cannabis is not a gateway drug, it is a medicine. From helping people naturally relieve their anxiety to literally curing cancer (over 100 studies have validated this), the plant is incredibly therapeutic. Because it is classified as a Schedule 1 drug, however, marijuana is still illegal in many U.S. states.

Fortunately, new findings from a study published in Frontiers In Pharmacology seem to support arguments for its decriminalization. Preliminary investigations by medical researchers from McLean Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and Tufts University indicate that pot actually improves cognitive performance.

For the study, entitled "Splendor in the Grass? A Pilot Study Assessing the Impact of Medical Marijuana on Executive Function," behavioral scientists tracked 24 certified medical marijuana patients over a three-month dosing period. The patients were repeatedly measured for cognitive proficiency through a series of intelligence tests, including the STrrop Color Word Test and Trail Making Test.

Lead researcher, Staci Gruber, is the director of the Marijuana Investigations for Neuroscientific Discovery (MIND) program at McLean Hospital. As KINDLAND reports, her initial report is positive. The first benefit reported is that medical marijuana led to patients excelling at brainteasers with enhanced speed and accuracy.

Says the McLean Hospital report:

"After three months of medical marijuana treatment, patients actually performed better, in terms of their ability to perform certain cognitive tasks, specifically those mediated by the frontal cortex," explained Gruber.

Study participants also reported improvements in their specific clinical conditions, sleep, and overall health as well as a decreased use of conventional medications, particularly opiates.

"We saw a 42 percent reduction in opioid use," reported Gruber. "This is significant, particularly for those of us in Massachusetts and other areas of the country where the opioid epidemic is ravaging so many. This preliminary finding certainly warrants deeper and broader investigation."

Drug is not supposed to be used for recreational or fun purpose, it is supposed to help sick people, so unless you are sick, consuming drugs is not okay, it is not good for yourself and not good for other people

Certain  drugs are used by revelers to counter fatigue during partying. Drugs such as Amphetamines act like stimulants, which increase the blood flow within the body. Those who take these drugs report increased confidence, sociability and energy levels. Also, the intake of these drugs can reduce irritability, anxiety, restlessness and dizziness.

Yes, I heard that seriously ill people are given drugs in order to reduce their pain. This is the only excuse for using drugs for a person. Use drugs in order to relax can not, because you can get a drug addiction

People normally starts with these kinds of recreational drugs and later they start to do. The hard drugs, taking cocaine, crystal meth and other hard drugs. I recommend not taking any drugs at all. They lead to destruction eventually.

Very wise^^^.

And the best thing to do is to not take medical drugs. They are poison. See https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.19297128.

Cool

Yes, not only drugs, but also a lot of medical drugs destroy the human body. Only this is a huge business that is not so easy to stop.

From what I have seen, people turn to hard drugs (such as heroin and krokodil) from soft drugs, only if the latter is not available. That is one of the reasons why I advocate for the legalization of the soft drugs, such as marijuana.

Flying Hellfish is a Commie
I don't really have an issue with it in the least, I would allow people to try drugs that are regulated and worked within certain guidelines such as Marijuana at certain dosages to be able to fight the epidemic with other narcotics such as Heroin, Prescription Pills, and so on and so forth.

The government should be using this to be able to help regulation and to be able to make sure people aren't taking in other drugs and being addicted to something else when smoking / doing another drug (when drug dealers don't give pure substances to be able to make more money) And they should use this as a way to tax it and to educate people on the effects of drugs with this tax money, or a portion of it at least.

So, I support it to an extent.

Perhaps in moderation sometimes it helps to heal the disease, but just for the thrill you do not need to use drugs even lungs like children do.

Until you reach the right age of maturity, you usually ignore the risks associated with various habits including drug use. That is why a 15-year old is much more likely to use drugs, when compared to a 30-year old.

Don't let others control your BTC -> self custody
I kind of agree with you here. The people who use these recreational drugs would be those who don't really have much connection with their families. Peer pressure or trying to fit in and act cool would also be one of the reasons why the younger generations try these kinds of drugs. People who seem to have low self esteem also turn to drugs to boost confidence.

When you are in the college, it is normal to use alcohol, marijuana and drugs such as cocaine / LSD. If the kids want to have fun, then let them have it. They are not causing harm to anyone else.
I do not agree with you. Habits of a person are formed in early age and if we follow your logic, then all people from an early age will be to use drugs in middle age will have complete addicts. At any age drugs are poison to the body.
Are drugs so much more addictive than alcohol and tobacco or are they similar? If they are similar why isn't the society filled with addicts?
Almost every student drinks, some more, some less, but almost everyone celebrates after passing an exam. I've had my fair share of drinking and I've never been addicted. None of my friends are. We shouldn't think that if we allow people to smoke a joint without putting them in jail, they will drop everything and become bums, stealing from old ladies and smoking all day.

What did you try though, aside from those legal drugs, alcohol and tobacco? It would be nice to get insights from people who actually tried stuff.

Maybe some of these drugs are more addictive than others. Or  maybe some individuals are more prone to addiction, or that maybe each individual responds to various stimuli uniquely that whether someone would be addicted to something would be a case to case basis.
Nothing very hard. I don't like needles, so stuff like heroine is out of the picture, and never felt the need to try some haymakers like ecstasy, because people were having headaches and puking, so I passed Wink The important part is, we should be able to make this choice and nobody should have the right do it for us. If I wanted to puke and have a whirlwind in my head I would've swallowed that pill.
You're right each person responds differently, it's similar to alcohol. One guy can drink only 4 beers and another 8 before feeling dizzy.

Personally I smoke cannabis once a week.

Either friday or saturday night.

It has removed a lot of stress and some inflamation on my arms that keeps coming when I am stressed.

Now its completely gone.

So for me its a 50/50 when it comes for the high and medical benefits.

Perhaps in moderation sometimes it helps to heal the disease, but just for the thrill you do not need to use drugs even lungs like children do.

But we should be free to choose.

If we mess up our lives, especially after being warned, it's our own fault. Don't make other people pay for our mistakes. Certainly not Government. Let us die.
