My top 3 altcoins to invest are Bitcoin ethereum ripple or waves.
Right now, Zero(ZER) and Verge(XVG) - short term.
I studied a lot of coins for a very long time, but I came to several basic ones. This is NEO, LTC and ADA.
My choice is eth, neo and waves
I learned a lot of coins, and I came to the conclusion that the best storage option would be coins like NEO, LTC and Waves.

Currently we have many coins with good set up and devs but just few which we can follow for good profit I am going with Ethereum Waves and Litecoin because these can survive for some time and have very strong communities which are also doing hard work for their own sack

My top three altcoins to invest in is ETH, NEO, KuCoin.
ETH has been in existence for years and most of the ICOs use their platform so ETH has still a room for growth. From its rebranding, NEO has been increasing consistently and since it is a Chinese coin and the recent rumor of using it as their platform, there is a possibility of its value growing. KuCoin is a fairly new coin but it has been getting attention lately. It has its own exchange base in HongKong and trading volume has been increasing. Fee is low compared to big exchange like Poloniex and Bittrex. You will have a share of the fee as well if you hold the coin in which 90% of the fee is shared to its members and its support is active which has been a problem for some exchange.

For me the best ones are,
1. ETH - because it's the only one logically that could replace BTC and it's pretty low.
2. WAVES - Well this one is second inline to ETH and it's pretty low too compared to its true value same as ETH
3. DOGE - This one is just a hail marry shot, since DOGE is really on its ATH and could likely pump in the future and reach 120 sat levels again. Invest some coins here if you want to just wait and see.
So far those are my top three right now due to the recent rise with bitcoins. Probably because they are cheap right now, that's why I chose them.

I don't have favourite top3 but I think that some of them are not in existance yet 
I have a feeling that XRP, XEM, BTS, STRAT could surge hard next year.

NEO, ARK and OMG. Top 3 coins with great Long Term potential.
My list of the top 3 includes Ethereum, BitcoinCash, Litecoin. By investing in these coins, I'm not chasing after excess profits. I am sure that I can save my money in these assets.
