They try to ban Youtube because their theft videos are shared via Youtube and most of the Turkish people use Facebook to communicate. They try to cut communication. This fascist thief government sold every Turkish resources to foreign capitalists and their partisan businessmen and they fucked up Turkish economy.
PM is the biggest liar and mob in whole republic history. They are using Goebbels' propaganda tactics.
Only PM has more than $1 billion personal stash. They stole from us (all Turkish citizens).

These Youtube accounts spread phone records about malpractice/bribe.

Banning YouTube and Facebook, and asking to bypass the democratic process to ban any website, are two extremely different intentions; the first does not necessarily imply the second.

But even getting past that, what sort of culture must Turkey have where open information is a threat?  If what Socrates said was true, that the greatest good is knowledge and the greatest evil ignorance, then Turkey, as many nations seek, wishes to commit the worst act imaginable by preventing knowledge and encouraging ignorance.  This is a big step toward the total state, and if the people of Turkey don't start pushing back, they'll experience the punishment for political negligence, as the N. Koreans can attest.

Almost makes America look like a great place...hmmm.

Looks like facebook and youtube could have only been invented in the US, based on some of the replies so far...

There are the so called NGOs, these bastards who start war against everything we love.
NGOs are not part of a democratic process, websites owned by the Lord of evil himself too.

“We will not leave this nation at the mercy of YouTube and Facebook.” — Turkey prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan

The prime minister of Turkey is looking to pass legislation that will allow the government to block websites without a court order, reports the Wall Street Journal.

The purpose of Erdogan’s potential law, WSJ claims, is to stop “leaked audio recordings online purportedly revealing corruption in his inner circle.” The key targets of this proposed legislation are YouTube and Facebook.

When asked if an entire ban may occur, Erdogan reportedly confirmed its potential to Turkish-based broadcaster ATV, saying “yes, closure included.”

This ban is not yet in place, but the risk is real: Turkey has blocked numerous social networks in the past, including Twitter and Facebook, with bans as recent as mid 2013. This history in Turkey of a willingness to block social media makes Erdogan’s statements all the more dire.
