Did you calculate that using 4 weeks? I tried to calc it using 30 days and came up with 35.316% using a reverse rounding of 4.3~ weeks in a month.
Assuming 52 weeks per year (which again isnt exactly precise but at least quite close, hence the "about", i was rounding anyways. Also months vary in length which i also ignored) and then produce the same annual interest rate month wise: 1.07 ^ 52 = x ^ 12Alternatively you can calculate the weeks per month and just use 1.07^(52/12), even better 1.07^(365/(7*12)) which gives the same results.
You can also compare your result with weekly interest on the long run, 1.3516^12 is considerably different from 1.07^52. Maybe we used slightly different numbers for pirate's interest rate? 4 1/3 weeks per month should have been about right.

In more detail, I have developed a trading program EA that automatically trades the market for you, generating 15%+ monthly returns. Not as great as pirates 28% monthly return but in my case, there is no secret on how the money is made.. Its all clear as water.
