I think running a negative adverts to ruin a competitor's business is a crime and can be charged to court, all you have to do is to be sure you have your evidence to prove it was an advert inimical to your business. You can't even use the word of mouth to pull someone's business.  Reputation is difficult to build and to use sneaky way to pull someone down is such a bad practice and nobody likes what you have built over the years to be rubbish in a twinkling of an eye.
I think what you have said is quite true, because I have also witnessed it myself in the environment around me, where someone who deliberately places negative advertisements to bring down the business of his own opponents immediately backfires on himself. The opposing party directly sues the party who made the negative advertisement through the authorities so that this is like a backfire which directly harms the person who made the negative advertisement in a short period of time.

word of mouth works well all the time even in the digital age. but even so, your product or your company will not last if your competitors are sneaky enough to ruin the reputation. social media spreads the word faster when one fake client complains about your product.

you can notice this in the casinos who are accused of scamming or cheating, one user can just claim even without evidence. the digital age is very different. and the strategy of companies online is getting harsher.

There's no market strategy as best as using the social media for making advertisements, now we are in the era of advanced technology development and people are making alot of opportunities out in making the use of the internet to market themselves, there's no way you won't see people on the social media each time they are online browsing on different platforms, and the most of this target is the advantage of covering a larger percentage of people with this target.

Except from the user point of view. Especially when it comes to cryptos. I have seem handful of actual cryptocurrency advertisements, or exchange adverisements, while being flooded with scams..

Also i wouldn't click any advertisement link i get from social media, or via any platform that shows ads. No matter what the crypto opportunity it is.

Any serious project would know typosquatting and duplicate sites are a problem, and i sort of hope they would advertising in social media, because this shouldn't be a thing that might be legit. People should find the official login link via google.

You have a point, as they take advantage of the internet as their market strategy for introducing their products, or into cryptos like their coins and tokens, scammers also do the same, they even literally copied your way advertisements that could clickbait users to open a new link that could be harmful to your private accounts which could be a drainer.
I think making links and clickable ads would be not a good idea. My experience here in the crypto industry with their advertisement (from Twitter). Even a legit site that is made by a legit team, they are still prone to scams, which is also their fault cause their site is not that secured. If you are going to make a platform with users putting their funds, at least make it secure. You really need to exert effort by having a trademark where users could identify fake sites, plus easy to search in browsing app websites than links.

However, the challenges here is that there could be a risk of fraud if the customer receives the product but does not make the payment. We have seen or heard about such cases in numerous occasions where the delivery guy is being beaten or some times kidnapped and the property seized from them forcefully. All these are at disadvantage of the company and the customer is less affected. I think there is still no balance of risk in either of the services.

OP mentioned all kinds of media advertisement that benefiting from technology, all the platforms and method of advertising, but I think OP is forgetting one of the most beneficial part of technology that helps marketing a lot. Data collection, especially with the raise of social media, Data Collection and Analysis has helped advertiser get more targeted audience for their ads, and customer get more suitable ads for them. Even though people were divided between the use of data collection for marketing advertisement, but we should agree that data collection has huge evolution on the behavior of advertisement and marketing.

Digital strategies cannot exist alone. Even marketing experts agree that modern marketing is a merger between the old and the new. That is the tradition and modern(digital) strategies. The old and marketing strategies cannot be thrown away because they are essential in reaching certain demographics like baby boomers who prefer print newspapers. While digital strategies may reach the millennials and genz who prefer online adverts popping up on their screens than reading newspapers.

I guess almost everything we have cannot exist alone no matter how mainstream the new ones are, and this includes old and modern way of advertising your product. So, yeah I agree on this one. However, there might be a changes on production for an old way of advertising such as publishing it into newspapers and magazines or anything like that due to the emergence of the internet. We might see fewer companies that is still interested in continuing such strategy, maybe it purely depends on their target market.
Majority of the young people, maybe below the age of 25-30 years old are not into newspapers, so companies who has a target market at these age brackets may simply use the internet to reach them.
Companies who target an older customers  will most certainly continue to use the newspaper advertisement.
Old ways cannot be totally eradicated, especially when it was too successful before the arrival of the modern and mainstream one.

what old strategy thats still relevant though I think its just emailing for purpose of marketing other than that I don't think there's any old marketing strategy that still works.
nowadays digital marketing is all about building brand and reputation, i've seen countless project doing exactly that, creating their own unique brand with unique graphic design, then starting to work on it until many people follow their social media accounts and honestly it always works wonder if you ever tried it once.
sometime it might even better than just paying for ads because the followers might be loyal subject for the business. its always like that with newest strategy of marketing.
moreover the fact that newspaper nowadays are already considered obsolete, anyone now starting to just subscribe to some news apps that also present papernews like format. but the advertising in the newspaper still relevant because of this.
