I did some digging and it seems that out of the four players that were supposed to receive a consolation prize of 25BTC each [worth $41.75 at the time], one of them [Szikszai "Sziky" Miklós] didn't take it [source - not sure for the other three]!

  • Judging by the content of "this thread", I believe "BTCsportsbet.com [archived]" was responsible for those BTCitcoins.
^ This is what I am thinking and for sure at that time BTC price was too cheap at that time and belongs to consultation prizes.
It is the same on the pizza man who bought pizza using his BTC and now this scenario sound very when we know BTC price was very expensive today.
But this is new to me, I saw the different story of a recall of the BTC amount, and even us, try to look out our old wallet and find those transactions on BTC, I supposedly have 2 BTC if I did not spend all collected amounts, but it was not, I spend them all.

Not surprising if you compare it with the Bitcoin Pizza. It's a matter of time. During that time announced prize Bitcoin was underestimated. Because that time people can't think Bitcoin will be in its current position. It's like we can't imagine now what will be the price of Bitcoin after ten years from now. We are selling Bitcoin for $43K right now. Perhaps the next generation will laugh at us after ten years. It's hard to predict what will happen. However, the example is good to take a lesson.
Lesson on which you couldnt able to reach it out if you do focus on investing with bitcoin since you couldnt able to achieve 100-1000x more in price as of todays value thats why people would opt in on

dealing with altcoins since they do have the idea about potential on earning big amounts on a specific period of time.No one couldnt really tell on what the future looks like thats why it cant really be

avoided that you would be selling things directly or on point just to benefit out on that particular time and without minding on saving those because they dont really have much
value into those times.

bitcoin makes losers a winner, because with the presence of bitcoin we have the courage to look to the future, even though bitcoin can't give us wealth but at least bitcoin has given us comfort and prosperity, especially for myself personally, don't be tired to fight, don't give up when pressure comes.
Yeah, and Bitcoin isn't supposed to just give one quick and automatic wealth, I mean it's not just a get rich quick scheme, it's a network that offers its users the opportunity of being their own bank, and that is what I consider to be one of the best benefits of being in the Bitcoin network, though there are a whole lot of them. Personally I believe we haven't even started harnessing all the benefits of being in the Bitcoin network, as the network continually develops and grows to mass adoption then would more people appreciate the Bitcoin network and want to join in; finally, I've not had any cause to regret being a Bitcoiner, and I think there will be more reasons to celebrate going forward.

I couldn't stop laughing  Grin Grin Grin
It started like play, but it's now the head.
Assuming, the star winner wanted to buy bitcoin with $500. I am sure he would have gotten more than 100btc then. But he wouldn't have risked it. At every point in time btc is measured by its value in fiat.

Lol. This is yet another example. We have seen it many times in the forum, when time has passed and we see the extraordinary revaluation of Bitcoin, we see these things and we laugh, but at the beginning when Bitcoin was worth pennies, and nobody knew about it, and if you heard anything it was related to fraud, or drugs or terrorists, well it was difficult to see how it was going to revalue.

In any case it is good to remember these things at this time because there are a lot of people pessimistic about the price.

This is one of those pictures that is an indication about the primal history of BTC and its price on the market. Since everyone is somehow informed on how its price skyrocketed, most of the investors follow such example by HODLing most of their investments and waiting for the next fork to happen in order to maximize profits.

It is just so funny to witness that almost 98% of the whole population did not know that BTC even existed during that time, and the remaining 2% of the people who did know about its existence, mostly sold/liquidated their coins. I wonder on how many people during that era were able to HODl at least most of their coins until now.

lol of course if this happens then I think now they will get a very big profit while still keeping it Cheesy
This is insane, and it's a testament to the fact that sometimes something that isn't considered will shine at the right time and bitcoin actually does.
I was not in their initial adoption but I seem to understand how they feel at the moment by wasting their bitcoins then Grin

What a consolation price. Lol  i hope those who received the consolation didn't spend his bitcoin and he  preferred to hold because he is surely a big winner right now. Just imagine the value 25 bitcoin on this current situation.  Grin it will be a very very late celebration for a consolation price even though it tooks how many years. Lmao

We can be losers if we sell bitcoin too early but if you can hold for some time and only sell it at a high price, we will be the winners. Bitcoin depends on how we can use it with right and that is why without having proper knowledge, we will not be able to use bitcoin with the right. So it will be up to you what you will choose but I am sure that you want to become the winner by using bitcoin and selling it at a high price.

Reading OP, this is one of the very rare situations where i would really want to be a loser, lol. I can imagine that even the so called losers then, those who got the btc did not see any value in it because of the popular opinion that they lost. The state of regret that they will find themselves if they somehow unfortunately did not keep access to the where the bitcoin was, will be unimaginable, it will be a life lesson, a story on how to be happy with, and see value in your prize.

This sort of post reminds me of the days of some individuals who were doing the faucets every hour and getting several bitcoins for it.
To think that was only ten years ago just goes to show how far satoshi's project has gone.
But then again those gamers probably traded them for an ingame item or worst, forgot where they put them.

This picture shows well the era when bitcoin was not taken seriously. Few understood the potential of this asset at all. As a result, at current prices, the winner received 2 000 times less than the loser. Cheesy

No one had really believed out that much when  Bitcoin was just new and starting up and for those losers who do still able to get hold of those coins and didnt sell out then they are millionaires now
Considering on the current price of btc as of this writing which is 43k per coin then its valued a million dollars but its unlikely that these fellas had able to hold and neither they had sold them
when it do still have value which i couldnt blame off since no one could predict out on what would happen in the future but if someone had high hopes of these coins
then it did really pay off worth.

It would be the perfect anime ending if one of those who took the consolation prize managed to keep the coins and come out ahead. However it would be highly improbable for that to happen given how long it has been since the event. Back then, only a handful of people knew about bitcoin for sure, and those who received it might have sold it almost immediately since it's practically valueless by that time. But at the least, we saw how these tournament organizers tried to present bitcoin to those who attended that event, and for sure have stimulated the curiosity of the players there.

It is same as Bitcoin faucets which gave away many Bitcoin in the past. Now if we look back, we will say faucet receivers in the past are very lucky but it is only partially true.
In fact, it's nice to see these people were using bitcoin as currency back then already, including faucet owners. Undeniably they were responsible for presenting bitcoin to many others who weren't aware about the digital currency yet.

Lucky, yes it is because you are lucky whenever you get gift, airdrop, reward, etc.
Unlucky, if you don't realize its hidden value and lose it later. I mean how many people who claimed Bitcoin faucets years ago or got rewards for losing their fights in-game as Bitcoin, are able to get access to those Bitcoin years later or nowadays?

Most of them lost private key and lose their Bitcoin. Estimate from experts reveals that it's about 4 million Bitcoin was probably lost
Everyone who had some kind of contact with bitcoin ten years ago or so was really lucky. However, if they chose to not enjoy the opportunity, it was their own mistake to throw away all the luck (or gift) they were granted, what doesn't mean they weren't lucky anyway.

Unfortunatelly many wallets and bitcoins are lost, but it's never too late to start again, especially because the lost coins make it probable for bitcoin to rise even more in value futurely, as the supply is more restricted than expected when bitcoin was recently created.

This is another example of self-made rich people but you know what, if you check their wallet, those bitcoin will no longer remain in their wallet, they should have probably sold for a penny that doesn't worth it.
If you look at the image, it's a giveaway contests with range category for different winners, they will definitely have sold for some a cup of beer.
I have learnt from bitcoin to always remain some fractions on my wallet anytime I want to sell any demanded coins, who knows what tomorrow will tell, you would have something to be proud of when others are going to the moon.

I have not really seen this particular type of post anywhere, but I have come across this kind of event that happened of this same nature. About the man who used 10,000 BTC to buy just 2 pizza, which marked the Bitcoin pizza day, which is always remembered. These are some hilarious events that happened which the actions are being referred and also remembered over the years and in years to come. This has made lots of the holders of Bitcoin to keep on holding strong to the available bitcoins at hand. This was a way through which made the existence of bitcoin whales to have so much, and still pushing the market to take out profits and fill more bags.

Man this is pretty amazing. I also love finding stories like this out there where people had no idea what bitcoin maybe even was or certainly how big it’s potential was.  I see this a lot with the collectibles hobby where people were gifted a 1btc Casascius coin but end up just throwing it in a drawer and forgetting all about it. Hopefully this person just stored it somewhere and forgot about it but was able to recover it eventually. I use bitcoin for my fantasy football league and we’ve had situations where even 3rd place ended up winning a ton due to bitcoins price rise.

"What the fuck is this BitCorn shit, tell me how to get rid of it so I can have actual money." - the dudes who won 5th-8th place, probably.

Quite weird to be giving out bitcoin for last place though; was this like to not make the last prize seem so cheap lmao? I'd assume it's like $25, or probably less.
