Hi pharesim,

can you please add the total node count to the message? With the new distribution method the total amount of distributed HZ per day is  difficult to determine.

The fee of a transaction is equal to the number of nodes it is paid for.

The NFD swap is over.

With a total of 3.01B NFD sent to the swap address, 120M HZ (12% of the total supply) have been distributed to the former NFD community. The received NFD were sent to the genesis address.

For anyone interested I have mostly completed my new crypto website, there are several blogs about Horizon on it, and I added Horizon to the predictions section. (actually one of the three cryptos I have been buying more of very recently)

http://www.cryptocollectorsclub.com/predictions.html

Oh yes, I am testing some stuff for HZ on my mac right now by the way, looking good! Smiley

I just did a normal downlaod from here https://horizonplatform.io/get-started/wallets/ of the full walllet. Unzziped it and tried to open it.  Am I doing something wrong?

I have Version 8 Update 45 of Java

I Googled the error you got, and the best answer was: only part of your Java is up to date. Here's a post from an Apple discussion thread on the same issue:

Got this issue fixed.  Notice that above I had said that Java 1.8 got installed but only as a Plug-In.  I did not appear to have installed the complete JDK.  I had to remove the Plug-In and reinstall Java 1.8

Code:
sudo rm -rf  /Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin

java -version

java version "1.8.0_31"

Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_31-b13)

Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.31-b07, mixed mode)

Now I need to change my symbolic link for javac:

Before:

Code:
javac -version

javac 1.7.0_75

After:

Code:
$ sudo ln -s /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/Current/Commands/javac javac

$ javac -version

javac 1.8.0_31
Now everything works

Many thanks! Will give it a go.  Much appreciated.

Got the full Java update.  I now get this message instead:

2015-07-05 19:23:29 INFO: Initialization took 4 seconds
2015-07-05 19:23:29 INFO: Nhz server NHZ V3.9.1 started successfully.

But I cant find my wallet.  Any ideas?

As announced before, the node bounty script was changed to stretch the distribution period.
From tomorrow on it will pay out 0.5% of the undistributed amount each day.
Clever choice. That will stretch it too infinity. And beyond :-)
Not really, we won't end up at a round 1B at the end because of fees and things we may have overlooked when calculating the distribution stuff.
But at least it will run out gradually, not suddenly at once.

To improve my projections I would like an average total value of all payments.
Perhaps simply of e.g. the past 3 months
. Where from can I get that data?

This beautiful and informative diagram
https://explorer.horizonplatform.io/?page=graphs&graph=distribution
shows one week of the past. Not enough to guess the average values well enough.

Is it perhaps possible to create a second diagram
https://explorer.horizonplatform.io/?page=graphs&graph=distribution×pan=90
to show the same data over the past 3 months?

Thanks for considering it.

https://explorer.horizonplatform.io/?page=graphs&graph=distribution&offset=90d

The links have been in the old design of the explorer, but got lost with james's redesign

In order to make sure that everyone gets the news, the exchange script will operate for 120 days after the March 9th start. So, the last day to send your NFD to the exchangebot will be July 5th of this year. After that, it will cut off the buyout line and distribute HZ to any sent NFD that’s left.

Today, I have been playing with the numbers a bit. See this code:
https://github.com/altsheets/hz-blockexplorer/blob/master/py/nodebountyprojection.py

When I considered my code to be ready, I realized that: Yes there are node-bounties, but also:
There are other bounties, e.g. the stakeholder bounty, and all the bounties announced here, etc. - and more.

How many total adresses  can be created on hz?   any idea?

Good question. The answer is a lot...2^64

Thank You Pizpie for clarify this for us.

Good question. The answer is a lot...2^64

ah, I see. That is 2^64 = 18446744073709551616 = 0.018 * 10^21

So with my back-of-the-envelope calculation I actually hit the upper bound quite well:
... here is an (inaccurate) upper bound ... 10^21
I only overestimated it by a factor of 54. *lol*

That also means, that: No, it is
... not surjective on the bounded lattice (0≤x<10^21 for every x in |N).

New attempt at grasping that number:

2^64 = 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 ~ 18.4* 10^18 ("18.4 quintillion")

/ 7,326,263,793 = 2.5 billion HZ addresses per living human

or if we (exclude plants to apply for a HZ address, and only) count all living animals in:

/ 20,000,121,091,000,000,000 = 0.922 HZ addresses per living animal.

HEY, THE hz ADDRESSES WON'T BE ENOUGH (for every animal on Earth).

How many total adresses  can be created on hz?   any idea?
Without having looked into the code that actually generates HZ addresses ... here is an (inaccurate) upper bound:

* my numerical account ID is 12846730982802002083 (NHZ-Q675-SGBG-LQ43-D38L6 - thx)
* if all digits could be 9, then
* 99999999999999999999 would be the largest of that decimal length

= (10^21) -1

--> not more than a Sextillion of unique addresses,
----> that is 10^21 / 10^9 / 7 = 10^(21-9) / 7 = 10^12 / 7 = 142,857,142,857 per human (a hundred billion)

What would lower that considerably is if the hashing of generated private keys
is not surjective on the bounded lattice (0≤x<10^21 for every x in |N).

Does that help you?

And why do you ask?  curious me wonders ...
How many total adresses  can be created on hz?   any idea?

One secret passphrase -> one address. So, the number of addresses you can have is really limited by the number of secret passphrases you can generate...and maintain.

Thanks guys,

Only curiosity,If calculations of altsheets are correct of 142,857,142,857 addresses per human is really a "very big number", now said for Nxtblg leave enough clear that really there isn´t a limit for use many addresses for same person.
Well maybe max. capacity of addresses never can be reach(Thinking for example on a problem like Y2K, that some systems weren`t prepared and somebody had did some modifications to "dates") and speaking only of addresses a problem like  could dont happens on next years or maybe never in normal conditions.Speaking about performance:  Could a big sudden increase affect platform?  I mean that an malicious code could be able of create hundreds of thousands of addresses on short time, how systems is prepared to this?. May be the block explorers could be first affected with this.
