From my openion, holding ETH will be the best choice. You can trade it against USD. Now, Most of the coin are going down. So holding ETH will be best.

Buy alts so you can grow you 1 ethereum. Well that's only possible if you know how the market plays. There's a risk in buying alts but there's also a risk on holding to ethereum. It's price might also decrease like alts.
