For all sums different. I would also start with $ 100 if I wanted to trade. And I think that's right because for a beginner to lose a small amount is not as offensive and unpleasant as for example 1000 dollars
Any amount is ok for trading I believe. But the thing is the profit. You shouldn't invest 100 dollars and expect thousands of dollars for profit unless you are the trading god.

"Potential coins" are interesting only for those who choose long-term trading/holding, and I suggest that OP is considering day-trading, so he'll just buy some random coins when they are cheap and sell them when they're pumped. And that's exactly the best decision if you don't have more than $100, but still I'd wait until trend change.

With such low amount i will suggest you to invest in blockchain projects like cs, zco, zilliqa and others. These are the ones which will give you maximum gains during the next bull run.

Well $100 is a good investment for buying of altcoin and hodl I advise you make enough research and buy a prospective altcoin with a very low price which has the tendency to moon in a few years time and buy and hodl recall when xrp was $0.03 which later reached $3 that is a massive profit for hodlers I am very optimistic of other altcoins too
