I'm trying to set worker's minimum difficult but it doesn't seem to work.  For example, I can set it to 384 in the worker settings but when I run cgminer I see it set as 512.  Is there something to do other than set the worker setting?

If you set 384 as the minimum, then you can still get difficulty 512. To lower the difficulty you need to increase the work submits per minute. If that setting is already at 20 (default) then you need the easy mode perk to increase it further.

Something bad is happening here.  I continue to see abnormally low shifts every 6 or 8 hours which is keeping my 10 shift average lower than it should be.  I am still not catching it when it is happening but I keep checking and finding that shifts are reporting my contributions a good 40% less than they should be which leads me to believe I am being disconnected.  My miner is using stratum not getwork.

I've had a couple of failovers to backup pools in the last few days.  But they are infrequent and do not last long.

Try using a backup to another pool. That will let you know if the dropouts are at your end or BitMinters, and if it's at BitMinter's end, you won't lose anything.

Excellent!  Thanks!  I'll get that fixed right away.  Sorry I screwed things up, but I guess it's good to find the issue so no one else has the problem.

Nothing to be sorry about. Thanks for discovering this bug. Smiley Indeed it required doing something few users are doing, plus having the right timing to trigger the issue. I'm always happy when I can fix such bugs without too much work tracking them down.

Happy new year doc!
I wish you all the best
Thank you for your hard work
I said it many times and I will say it again
You are the best
Cheers

Thank you. That's much appreciated on a day like this. Smiley

Happy new year to you too! And to everyone else out there reading this.

After some investigating, I discovered an obscure bug. If you have two or more client instances connecting with different worker names that don't exist (resulting in the default worker being used), , then it can happen that one gets accepted and another one is rejected.

Workaround for now, either use blank worker name on all of them, or create the workers with those names.

This will be fixed in the next mining service update. Sorry for the trouble.

Bad luck should be my middle name

Thanks again for tracking it down!

It might have something to do with many people being unhappy and/or angry at this time of year. Hopefully things get calmer as we move out of the holiday season.

Well at least we're providing a safety valve to keep them from topping themselves.  Roll Eyes

A ddos attack started up not long ago, which is what dropped the hashrate by 100 TH for a minute as it started. The hashrate was quickly back up again but 3-5% of users were affected by the anti ddos solution and unable to mine for a few minutes longer. It looks like it is mostly getwork users being affected by this. I'll make it a priority to add stratum support to Bitminter client. I've just had too many other important things to deal with. After that it might make sense to remove getwork support from the pool server as well.

The ddos attacks are extremely heavy now around Christmas and new year's eve, just like they were last year. It might have something to do with many people being unhappy and/or angry at this time of year. Hopefully things get calmer as we move out of the holiday season.

I guess the missing 100TH is in our heads.

I guess your looking at the block at:

277398   2013-12-28 11:55   3m   23,108,483   1,180,923,195   1.9%   501.3   BTC   cbcoins   confirmed

I know it's at 501 but I think the Doc ups the number in the subject when the pool sustains the rate for a while.

Your pool is down again, my Avy's just switched over to my backup pool, and my USB ASIC's have stopped mining all together.

The pool isn't down again, 9000 people mining. Do you get any error message?

So how do we stand with support for Antminer usb sticks a few days out or longer?

I asked the Antminer people if there is any documentation on their USB devices. Hoping to get a reply soon.

I just got a shipment of antminer usb u-1 sticks your client sees them as icaurus  like an AM stick  which  I think may be okay but it just sives me endless noonce errors.
So I am guessing we don't have support for antminer sticks as of now.

BTW  my Nano Ice fury sticks are working using BFGminer and pointed at your site.

Damn, that was my next choice, I wanted to get in on the group buy, but will not have the bits.

My system just popped up a "Bad Credentials" warning

Are you using F-Secure antivirus? It likes to block access to the mining server and causes that to happen. You'll need to whitelist the app/pool with F-Secure for it to work reliably.

Please investigate, thanks.

Oh, and my log in on bitminter is Korxax too if that helps you track down what's going on.

Oh, and my log in on bitminter is Korxax too if that helps you track down what's going on.  I gave each machine a worker name, but haven't set up workers on the site yet.  Kestral is my main machine that had the most recent problem, it has a 6970 in it. Eagle is my wife's machine it has a NVidia 560ti special edition with 448 cores.  And loon is a Machine my Brother in law used to use and left here for when we play multi-player games together, it has a 5970 in it.  Don't know if any of that helps, but worth a shot.

Bitcoin -- cash for the 21st century!

Looking for donations for a poor disabled guy to get a mining rig.  Long sad story that boils down to Cluster headaches- think a day long migraine packed into a half hour to 2 hours and repeat up to 10 times a day.  And my insurance company screwed me over when I had a plumbing problem flood my house, destroyed tons of my stuff including several computers.  Total loss, about $50k  Beware the red umbrella.  Any little bit of help is greatly appreciated.  I have fairly low power rates... so if you have an old miner that you want to donate I would be very grateful.  Contact me and I'll get you an address.
