So, Doc how is Bitminter's security?

Good.

I recommend turning on 2-factor authentication if supported by your OpenID identity provider. It's supported by Google and Verisign that I know of.

We've been hearing a lot about site's being hacked.
Bitmit got hacked by a data center employee.
Inputs.io got hacked. (Jury's out)
And 50BTC also got hacked. (jury's out)

With just these 3 we are talking about a few million. £/$

So, Doc how is Bitminter's security?

I wanted to come back to bitminter. But after mining for 20~ hours with 200 GH/s I'm only seeing 0.05BTC. Was it just a bad few rounds? Even with bad rounds, I never had it this bad at slush.
I'm curious if this has gotten any better for you and also what your rig looks like, thx.

is it possible to do manual cashouts at all?

Coming soon.

Manual cash out will allow smaller amounts to be cashed out, which a lot of users will be happy about. But be warned, cashing out tiny amounts is not recommended. You'll get a "wallet full of pennies" and be forced to pay (higher) fees to send coins.

You think those "get free bitcoins" sites are doing you a favor, until you try to send the coins and see the minimum fee required.

I'm not sure what the minimum should be for manual cash out. I don't really want to make it too easy for users to shoot themselves in the foot. I'm getting a lot of complaints from GPU miners wanting to cash out some bitdust though. It might be easier to just let them do it, instead of explaining over and over how much it will hurt. Tongue

As much as it does suck to wait, this is why I prefer the base payout on 0.01... wich I should be getting in a day or two when some more unconfirmed comes in !

Personally Doc, if you do implement a smaller payout scheme, I would make it a perk with a charge of say 0.1% with warning that if implemented "activted" you will end up knowing what it's like to be raped by the internet.

Bitminter pays minimum fees on auto cash out transactions. This has usually worked well, but right now there appears to be a big boom in bitcoin usage.

The number of unconfirmed transactions is very high and growing rapidly. I've changed our settings to make bigger blocks and include more free and minimum fee transactions. Hopefully that will help somewhat, but I think we need other pools to do the same.

Maybe you could set a higher payout threshold where if you get your payouts at that threshold, a fee is paid?  Looking at some of those hung transactions, there are some fairly hefty payouts waiting a long time.  I seem to have been extremely lucky that my meager payouts happen to have gone into bulky blocks that had a fee paid.

Or perhaps you could let people click a flag that they are optionally willing to contribute to a fee - then when payouts are made, fees are distributed evenly among those who clicked the fee checkbox.  This would probably result in some free riders, but it would at least give people some chance to influence the payout to confirm quicker.

This is the best mining client and pool i have used.

No configuring, just mine away.

Better yet, let somebody franchise the Bitminter name and possibly software.  Bring in some pool/DrHaribo income, yet not throw a huge learning burden onto the good doctor.

So, yes then its probably the no fee on that tx that's stalling it. I'm guessing a lot of pools/miner now won't process no fee tx's? When i  send from my own wallet i usually put at least .00001 and they go fairly instant.

Still waiting on this TX over 15 hours i think.

Will be a while before it gets picked up it seems...im guessing when we mine blocks we are prioritizing transaction with fees over our own payout transactions. makes sense , but curious if that whats happening.

That seems to be an extremely small transaction (599 bytes), at least compared to the payout transaction I was looking at.  That could explain why there is no fee.  I'll be interested to see if DrHaribo can confirm that is a Bitminter payout transaction or not - maybe bitminter needs to add fees even to small transactions to get them prioritized.

Has anybody gotten a payout today? Mine is unconfirmed as well. Maybe something to do with the craziness, more people moving around btc? I notice there's no fee on the transaction - that def slows it down.

No fee?  I checked my most recent payout, and it definitely had a fee.  Are you sure?  Would you care to share the transaction ID?

I got one this morning.

(However, I had a notifier that should've sent me an email when I received Bitcoin at my payout address, and didn't get the notification.  But that is not supplied by Bitminter.)
