I personally feel that Bitcoin has long-term value, and the short-term value of Litecoin and Ethereum is considerable. Believe in your own opinion, I believe you will make the right choice.
It's a good idea to invest 12000 dollars in late. If you buy some new coins, you may lose your money. If you don't want to lose everything, try to buy bitcoins as safest.
You are planning to invest good amount, my advise to invest into multiple Altcoins rather investing in one coin. Litecoin is a also good option for long term but better to invest in other coin like ADA, IOTA, Steller and Monero.

I would invest in some of the top ten altcoins. You can choose them by yourself. They are all different and have potential. Just make some researches and inform yourself good about the coin. And when you mean longterm, then just stay in your opinion in long term. DO not check the charts everyday, and let the coins just be on your wallet and look to the charts in one year or more!

actually to tell you the thruth im not expert also in picking a good crypto coins,but due to some of my experience and always researching and monitoring in the coin market caps characteristic data,even a little a can figure little hope of which coins is still profitable now even the blockchain market is in the red flags situation,so therefore for me i still always pick up the ethereum as a long term investment,because its only an altcoins that mostly usable in the market because its only crypto coins that contains an erc20.

It is a high risk investment - in each coin.
And yes there is a risk to loose all.
Your help is to do your own research and create your own strategy and target.
When you have plan to make invest in cryptocurrencies for long term, you have to know and understanding about fundamental of the coins. And buy and hold minimum 2 different coins, Litecoin in my opinion one of the coin that have good and strong fundamental, others coins is for sure BTC, DASH, XLM and ETH. All these coins enable to going up multiple times. But by look in to history of many price action of crypto , actually swing trading is more promising profit than hold.
Definitely diversify your investment on luke 5-10 coins or tokens, if u all in on 1 investment is much bigger risk !

As for my opinion you can invest in ETH - it the most safe, also true price much high than now! I think it is above than 1000
