I am more advocated for ethereum, eth tends to be stable in the rate of decline and grow slowly but surely. This is one of the advantages of ethereum.
DOn't just buy one coin spread it over various coins. Start small and work your way up. Don't over-invest in something incase something happens and you lose the whole lot instead of only a percentage. Never go all in with anything in life if you want to play it safe I always say.
Remember to use money that willing to lose when make invest in crypto, because we just make speculation and no body know for sure what the future of cryptocurrency. In my opinion Bitcoin,ETH, LTC, DASH, NEO or other coin in top 10 ranking has high potential to keep grow in the long term. You have to make research by your self and learn the fundamental of the coin so that your investment will be become your responsibility.
For my opinion best investment for your $12000 is bitcoin because bitcoin have a potential to grow by this end of year like it can turn up to $20000 you can invest your money in bitcoin and hold for a long term period.
Don't put it all in a single place. Diversify and put the money into a couple of coins. Some suggestions are that you should buy some bitcoin, buy some ethereum as they are the best projects to have your money in. Then you should also invest in some other small coins like litecoin and monero as these coins still have a long way to go and a lot of growing to do so you can make money from them.
I would not advise investing in one coin. It's risky. It is better to divide the investment between eth, neo and a couple more coins.
