Rav3n's fork has support for a boatload of alt coins.

Adding more hash to p2pool is a double-edged sword.  Yes, it means more blocks.  However, it also means higher share difficulty and higher variance for miners - especially noticeable the lower hash rate you have as a miner.  Many pages of this thread have been dedicated to that very discussion Smiley

Yeah, I use rav's fork for other coins now & then. I meant an actual p2pool coin that not only helps promote p2pool, but also has the capability to reserve some much needed funds for future development/problem solving. Sort of killing 2 birds with 1 stone, so to speak - promotion + funding......

Thanks for the donation - very kind of you  Smiley

Yup, these baron periods are a killer, but every pool suffers from them. A few quick blocks will have everyone smiling again  Wink

I was thinking, maybe an altcoin tuned for p2pool (P2Pcoin?) would help promote p2pool? There are some very good clients that could be forked & tuned for best results with p2pool, but I particularly like the WLC client with it's demurrage features - maybe this could be changed slightly into creating a "pot" for future development as well as used for donations to forrestv?

Just a thought......

Thanks! First donation I've seen in a while Smiley

It has been a tough couple months for P2Pool, but the 1 thing I know about luck is that it's bound to change Wink

On a side note, the Chain Query full beta went live yesterday, I'll be starting to upgrade the backend for Coin Cadence, it will take a while, but we will get there.

It is unlikely that donat will help.
I think how can we attract miners to p2pool.
The best way to attract is only by increasing p2pol's hashrate. With the increase of hashrate will increase the frequency of receiving blocks.
Maybe we should hold an action in support of decentralized mining at least for a few hours to support p2pool.
At the certain time, arrange to use all possible power of those who agree.
And bring the information about the campaign to all crypto forums.
If the action is successful then p2pool by increasing capacity needs to get a few blocks in a row.
According to the results of the action you can make a conclusion whether p2pool is necessary at all.

This --merged mining sure brings back memories, ah yes December 2013; freshly minted Unobtanium with my block eruptors and I had just received a Christmas E-Card from the Romanian criminals at Black Arrow LTD. Oh yes, everything was looking up, Bitcoin was headed to $1000+ and my pre-order would be arriving shortly or so I believed...

Redecentralizing mining. Our long-term goal is to redecentralize mining via an updated version of p2pool. This is a technically challenging aim that will require a series of 21 updates to get there, of which this is the first. Part of the idea is to first allow 21 Bitcoin Computers to collaboratively mine by connecting to each other via a steadily improving “21 join” command, and to then enable them to connect as individuals or ad-hoc groups to an arbitrary pool via a software update that adds a “21 pool” command. There’s (much) more to it than that, but this update starts us down that path by adding support for “21 join”.

Exciting times!

Sorry guys, it's my fault. I finally got my rig stable. Of course there's no blocks...

What was the problem in the end?

Dropping the hash rate seemed to help. Plus the newer version of the firmware.

Though I'm not absolutely sure I'm completely stable now. It just seemed like a humorous time to say so.

For the "Antminer problem", I added on my pages nodes stats a notice message.

It would be appreciated add on all nodes public  Wink

Happy to report not only is Balaji sincere, they are actively working on it.

And the block is nice too Wink

I'm pleasantly surprised he replied so quickly  Smiley

However, as kano says, it does sound a lot like antpool v2 - & he doesn't go into much detail at all.

Maybe I'm being too skeptical, but we've all been lied to before, so I'm not going to get all excited until I see a more open & detailed analysis from 21 Inc.

All good PR for p2pool though, so that's good  Wink

Sigh antpool v2

He's talking about distributed mining.

Yes that's what mining is ... distributed Tongue

The issue is a different word ... decentralised.

The pool issue is ... decentralised pools.

p2pool is the only (close to) decentralised pool.
I say "close to" due to the fact that there are centralised p2pool nodes where people run p2pool and other miners mine to their p2pools (that is called centralisation)

You see if the blocks weren't all bunched together then they'd be evenly spaced out and thus not random.
