So as I originally said as I have 10 gh and now don't seem to find a share before p2pool finds a block I can't get paid out.

Look up, gmaxwell just explained it.  You don't need to find a share every block, or even every 3 days.  You will find a share and be paid, you will just have a lot of variance.

Thanks, I had read what he said, I also read the posts after him, who said I need a share to be paid out. And therein my reply to that.

As I said at the start I really like p2pool, thanks for all the replies from you hero members. I will transfer my 10 Gh back to my own p2pool and see what happens after a week with regard to payouts. I will repost here.

Ty all so much for your advice.

No. Not "whatever power".
To get payout you need find at leas one valid share.
Share diff is like 100k now. So you have to find share that big.
If you have only few MH/s if can take... days. So you will get reward for up to 3 blocks after you find share but not longer than 3 days.

I'm sure I read somewhere on the P2Pool forum site that you had to get at least one share in a block to receive a payout, but I I cant get a share fast enough so I would therefore never get a payout I assumed. Sorry to ask questions that may seem obvious to you, but I really did like P2pool and I want to stay with it, but ofc I need to be 100% I will eventually get my rewards for what ever processing power I put in.

I love my p2pool, ty so much for writing it. I wish I could still use it.

However my 30x333 MHz of around 10gh processing is now at this 268m difficulty, failing to get a share before p2pool finds a block, so I'm no longer getting any payouts. I've missed four in in row, after a couple of months getting in nearly every payout, bar two I think.

Unless I'm wrong, I have had to stop using p2pool and move to a smaller pool that still pays pplns.
You'll still get paid— but as your correct payout falls too low you won't get paid every block. Instead, you'll get shares here and there and get paid way more while those are in the window than your hashrate would suggest, offsetting when you didn't get paid. On average your expected income is the same, just with somewhat higher variance.    This is how p2pool avoids creating potentially infinitely large coinbase transactions that pay out really tiny dust (not to mention keeping the sharechain datarate sane).

I have someone on my pool that didn't use payout ID as username, so it was credited to my address by default.

Is there something I can do on this signature to make it more clear how to use?  (he was getting like 64ghash with 3ghash DOA, avalon?)

Another Mr T quote?
Mr. T pities the fool that doesn't use bitcoin (ed: or quarkcoin, for quark side) payout address as userid?

 Grin

anyway, next time I restart i'll change default payout address to the donation address

Looks like the smallest payout on the last block was BTC0.00311888 with a current estimated block-time of 11hr50mins.

Should I even bother on here with my measely 1.7Gh/s ASIC, or should I stick to larget pools? (used to mine here with GPUs back when difficulty was 60-something, and not paying for mining electricity, so 100% profit)

There's a couple of miners smaller than that still mining on here.  So I say the more GH's the better  Smiley

Don`t panic! Organize!
To avoid "large doa amount" you need shut down node for more than 1 minute to break all miners.
So kill, wait 30 sec, restart (will take like 1 minute), be happy of good stats.

You can run second instance, wait till it will cry about busy worker port then kill old instance.
You will lose like 10-15 seconds.

Yeah, I mentioned I did that in my original post and mentioned that it killed efficiency for the node and raised DOA to a crazy number. That's why I was asking for any possible OTHER way of doing it.  Trying to do it this way gives worse results than just sequentially shutting down and restarting a single instance.

Is there any way to manually add a node for outgoing without bringing my node down?  I tried running a parallel p2pool process after editing my configuration file with additional -n entries and  switching over by exiting the original process to minimize downtime (one of the suggested ways to minimize downtime when upgrading p2pool as p2pool can reconnect to the recently vacated ports) but this method seriously raised DOA count and killed efficiency more than just sequentially bringing down and restarting p2pool.

Hypothetical: would an optimized Multi-threaded C version of p2pool be a better future path, possibly reducing inefficiencies and latency versus the current Python version and allowing configuration changes like peer node additions and maintenance on the fly?

I like how it shows the 'my shares' on the web interface now..

Any chance of getting it to retain local shares that are declared orphans?  i.e. I see today that one share was orphaned, but when I click on it in 'my shares' it's already been deleted by p2pool.  I'd like to see what orphaned it and why (was it the same person getting two shares in a row, is there some other node I need to connect to, just bad luck, or what)..

re: I used to get like 0-5% orphans, now it's more like 5-10%.     http://www.nogleg.com:9332/static/graphs.html?Year  vs  http://www.nogleg.com:9332/static/graphs.html?Week

BE BLADE will have like 30% doa/orphans. It is NOT supporting LP so it is NOT good for P2pool.

Can someone post a 24 hour chart of a BE blade's Hashrate+DOA rate? I want to see what "normal" is.
