I don't want to drop altcoins that I've invested but some members will do to shill the altcoins that they are promoting as bounty hunters or where they are a part of, instead of asking why not ask about features of altcoins that have the potential to exist long term and eventually make profit, because members will post quick profit or pump and dump coins to you, we are being flooded by these kind of altcoins because its easy to create a coin for pump and dump you will just hire shills and do bounty campaign.
But for a good project with good potential in the market, it will take time before you reap your profit but the profit is recurring and you will be proud that you are one of the early birds, so go for altcoins with potential for long term profit instead of pump dump coin check the market check the website check every feature then decide if these are the coins you're looking DYOR OR do your own research.

20,000 dollar I think it's a huge amount to investment. So firstly I would say that put security in the first term. For that you have to choose a secure platform for your investment in this case I will suggest you to avoid looking for Alternative coins for that just choose Bitcoin it will be most secure place for your investment even then still Bitcoin is on a perfect dip for a good profit. Just put your fund on bitcoin and hold for the next bull-run after the next halving I mean for a long run. Here you can back some good profit

If you really have $20k at the moment then it would be better to invest in BTC, Bnb, XRP, and Ethereum. But buy Bitcoin at a greater percentage than other coins. I'm also holding 50% of my total fund in Bitcoin and am getting my profit from time to time. This will also give you some better choices.

My choice is don't invest in altcoins, invest it all in Bitcoin.

Why? because if you have $20,000 it's mean you're have a good job that pay well and you're trying to make more money without need to work, so the best choice is Bitcoin where the price will increase very high after holding for at least 4 years.

If you invest in altcoins, the chance you will lose your money is high except you always check your portfolio everyday, every hour or even every minute.

Around 5 would probably do, but that's your preference though, you can get more if you thin each one out more after all. I'd also recommend Bitcoin if you haven't already depending on your goal you can either put the majority of your portfolio on it or if you're looking to be risky, I'd make it as a part, but the rest would go to relatively new altcoins (since they give off much more rewards if they succeed, but at the same time the risks are just as much though).

believe me, if you will never be disappointed to invest in this altcoin and of course you will never be able to buy this altcoin at a cheap price like now in the future.

If you know nothing much of DCAs then you should be engaging with less risk such as big names of this insustry; Ethereum, Bitcoin, Ripple and the likes. Less risk means less market peice volatility and in such way you would be ble to endure sudden price changes because of the hope that big names are having higher chances to recover at any market price crash. Other altcoins would indeed give you higher rate of increase but will also cost you bigger risk. Also with market peice sustainability, new ones would put your investment at risk 'coz those tokens are more volatile basically.

From my personal experience, you should invest in btc, eth, bnb, ada, xrp, doge tokens where you can be 100% safe. But you can learn trading as well because there you will get daily profit. You have a lot of money so there is no need to be too busy so settle yourself first.

From my personal experience out of $20k I would invest around 60% in Bitcoin and the remaining 40% in other coins.  Expect Bitcoin price to increase in future so in my opinion it is better to invest in Bitcoin and allocate remaining 40% to altcoins like Bnb, ETH, SOL, LTC etc.

Is twenty thousand dollars your savings or the money you need? Because it will be high risk if you use the money you need and then put it into crypto investment. My experience is that long term investors have more to gain than day trading.

I don’t want to name any coins here. I would rather suggest you do some research yourself and then only invest in the coins that you think are capable of growing in the near future. 20,000 USD is really a big amount. You can really make a lot of money from it if you invest it properly. So I am suggesting you do some market analysis and then only invest it properly in proper alt-coins. Don’t go for tokens or Defis, as here the loss and scam rate are higher.

For $20,000 I will allocate 50% to bitcoin and the rest to 45% altcoins and will keep about 5% with stablecoins.
There are some altcoins that I think will increase well in the next cycle such as ENS, YFI, ASTR,... most of them are not in the top100 but I think their growth potential is quite large and will easily be pumped during the cycle. In the next period, especially they are in the areas that in the recent time the market has had great interest.

Why not make BTC part of your IRA amongst other diversification? Can you stuff it in a 401K and borrow against it?
