If I were you, I would split the money. At least more than half of what I would invest in Bitcoins, not altcoins. And I will share the rest in several altcoins, such as ETH, BNB, ADA, and Matic. This is my choice because I am not one of those people with high risk taking. But once again this will depend on you, if you are a high risk taker, you can choose several altcoins. but it's a shame that that much money is just for altcoins.

Beside the obvious fact that you shouldn't trust anyone giving you advices on investing, the answer to your question also depends on various things.

Like why do you want to invest in altcoins? Are you looking for long time investment that's safer to sleep on or are you looking for risky opportunities with moon potential? I mean everything is risky but some are riskier than others.

Are you looking for confidentiality in transactions or full transparency? Are you looking for something you can use in DEXes or store it in CEX:es. Do you want profits from staking? Have you ever done research on any coins or are you just asking for random people random names and be happy with that?

Honestly, the market is speculative. And no coins can be 100% safe to invest in. But so far you are talking about Altcoins, its best to invest in altcoins with Benefits. Examples are Ones the supports liquidity mining like Canto and some other safe coins. And some Exchange coins that earn users some Benefits like BNB, BGB and some other good exchange coins. You can also buy some INJ and stake. These are my opinions. And you can always do your own research.

Why will I have that kind of money and all what I will want to do is invest in altcoin, that’s really wrong, you know it’s really risky investing in altcoin, it’s better you just invest in bitcoin and if you really want to invest in altcoin, then it’s better you invest higher percent of the money into bitcoin and you can buy just little amount of altcoin, and when buying altcoin, avoid shit coins, your investment in altcoin should be on strong coins.

Right now I'd dive right into polygon. They have a real solid project. It's fairly cheap in terms of all time high and have recently announced a shift to POL to be able to verify multiple blockchains. I think over the next 3-5 years polygon will be one of the top plays. *shill over*

The basic of investment is not to keep all your eggs in one basket. So if you really 20 grand, always diversify beyond cryptocurrency. Have a good amount of gold in your Portfolio so that it can support you during bad times. Bitcoin and ETH should also form a good percentage of your portfolio.

Check coinmarketcap website and check the trading activities of various coins. This will give you an idea of active coins which has demand in the market. Then take a decision. Investing 20 grand in a single coin is a big no no.

Buy bitcoin and top alts like eth. For now some alts will likely to move after these phase. Usually it started with bitcoin and follow up by these altcoins. Its really hard to suggest particular alts but if you are gonna bag them bow surely it is a really bargain for you and as long as you can wait for them to matured till bull run then you are good to go.

Smart is not enough, there must be skills

Often see threads like this with investment advice with tens of thousands of dollars, why? Do you want to invest a large amount?

You can make a portfolio simulation on Coinmarketcap and choose a few altcoins that you think are good, I think asking other people for advice is not good unless you do your own research which ones are potential for investment, obviously don't focus too much on altcoins so you forget the main coin, bitcoin.

My altcoin of choice is Ethereum that is already in the portfolio.

Asking for investment advice here will also attract some scammers guiding you to put money in fake projects token with attractive offers also so don't fall for them easily.The amount is also big for $20k so if you are new learn about market and stick to some top altcoins only on Coinmarketcap that doesn't have chance to go to zero levels so risk is less.Also diversify the amount to split between some coins like btc or ETH rest do some research also rather then relying on others advice completely.

20k$ is not a small amount you can buy different altcoins on that amount,the best choice is the altcoins that is very well known and has a good rating on different tracking platform,or even the bnb and eth or matic this altcoins is good for long term and i believe it is very well known as a good investment you can also bought bitcoin for long term investment this coin will not give you a headache if only you have a big patience.

this is not a good time for altcoins. If this is the beginning of a longer bull market, bitcoin gives better returns at the beginning, if the market were to turn around - bitcoin will dump less than alts. So now I recommend BTC and look for alts only when BTC breaks the previous ATH. Since you do not have too much experience and for some reason you are avoiding bitcoin, maybe you already have enough of it, then you need to focus on the top altcoins on the market.

Looking at the top 10 coins, there are two stable coins and a meme coin, bitcoin is not an altcoin, XRP is facing a lawsuit and Lido does not inspire me any confidence, so being realistic about it there are only 4 altcoins worth investing on the top 10, ETH, BNB, ADA and SOL, take a look at some of those coins and decide on your own if any of those coins is worthy of your investment, if not then maybe you should just invest in bitcoin or not invest in any coin at all.
