Not only is OP reverse-jinxing 2016 (which is good), there's actually mechanism behind that magical hex/charm:

Investors put millions of dollars into Bitcoin every single day. Investors looking to maximize their returns in the Bitcoin space have several options:

  • buy BTC
  • buy mining equipment
  • buy stake in a startup (venture capital)

For two straight years, those daily millions have been flowing into mining and venture capital, not the price. If mining is topping out (likely) and venture capital is topping out (apparent), where do those millions flow? I'll give you one guess Grin

go here http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-venture-capital/

scroll down

how many of those funded ventures have failed

Bitcoin's VC industry is good at one thing, having an amazingly low success rate compared to general Fintech VC.

I'm happy to see that most people on here do not agree with TS, as I don't agree either.

2016 will be an amazing year for bitcoin with many new developments and services. Halving will top it off.

It will be boring for those who sold their bitcoin and got left behind as they watch the price go higher and higher in 2016.

Yes. Not just boring, it would be more frustrating when you are aiming to buy at lower level but the market never giving you any chances for buying but keeps on raising. I have experienced this kind of situations in 2013.

Yes just watching the market price movement without trading would be more boring as well frustrating if you feel any thing missing out. This kind of situations some times forcing many people to buy what ever price they are available to. That also may lead them to regret later.

I was wondering the same thing as I had not heard of it either, so thanks for the link! If the project is ever completed and launched it should surely be a great step forward for online bitcoin retailers.

Could someone clarify what OpenBazaar is?

Supposedly a decentralized, free marketplace. The catch is that it doesn't exist. It was supposed to launch this year but it was postponed.

Boring.. no way.

In terms of news i think we will see a lot of action in 2016. More then we have seen the last couple of years.

So sit back, and enjoy the ride!

I agree! Even if the ride is operated by Chinese people Undecided

I'd rather ask one question:

Will BTC grow in 2016?

If 2016 brings more BTC users and more BTC transactions, it will be a good year. That's all I want. Growth. Market will take care of the rest, with more stores and more opportunities to spend BTC all over the world.

User adoption is the most important for the bitcoin growth. More user, more use means higher value for bitcoin.

yeah but the problem is the market. it doesnt matter if there are more users, if there is no market, there will be no growth.

Exactly the market will play a key role in the year 2016, if people have money they would surely think to invest into bitcoins and if they don't they would surely avoid the option of investing into bitcoins, but yes if adoption is good then there are chances that bitcoin will grow or else it would surely fall down.

More users will be enough to convince new investors and merchants. Look at electric cars or smart watches. There are more and more people owning one of those, and more and more companies are offering new services to please them.
