In 2016 we will see the first results of the VC invested in 2013 and 2014.
First sidechains, LN, OpenBazaar, Winklevoss ETF(?), SW, halving and many more to come.
To say it will be a boring year just because we saw one quarter with less VC investment is dumb imo.
VC money might come in in waves. The first bigger wave was last year and this year. Now it's up to the companies to deliver.
When the first results are promisimg there might come more.Have a bit patience mate!

OP Logic: If VC investments don't increase per quarter infinitely, then the next year is going to be boring/the "hype" is dying.  Roll Eyes

So solely based on capital coming in and exchange volumes you're saying 2016 won't be the most ideal year for Bitcoin? Those two things are just the tip of the iceberg... Being the halving next year a big chunk of that iceberg and miners another big chunk...
There is more exchange volume than ever before.

...

FWIW, I would guess that it will be merchant acceptance that will be the key to Bitcoin's success (BTC volume and price movement) in 2016.  If more merchants, of all kinds, but especially highly visible ones to the public, then BTC will get more notice and more widespread use.

And we can be a part of that.  By buying, spending and HODLing BTC, that keeps the Bitcoin Ecosystem more healthy and enhances prospects for further success.

More VC funding and more related technologies would also help.  But, my feeling is that more merchants accepting BTC is the key to 2016.

I think the OP is absolutely wrong, the halving is next summer so we're close to guaranteed to see a substantial price rise.

There will be continued mainstream adoption too.

I agree with you. Except for the halving, i expect some bigger parties to join bitcoin.
2014 was actually very boring and so was the larger part of 2015. But this price rally did  bring some new energy.

most people says 2016 is the best year for bitcoin and most of them also believe bitcoin price will back to $1000 in this year but i don't know this is will be come true or not because the price of bitcoin is very unpredictable although less than few days remaining we will leave 2015 but i think we will never know what happen with bitcoin and could be better or worst than currently

I suppose it depends on your definition of "boring".  Some people seem to be working under an assumption that the halving will automatically equate to a new ATH, which is certainly possible, but by no means guaranteed.  If the price in fiat is your only concern, then there is a chance you might end up disappointed.  But for those interested in the technology and its implications, I don't think it's possible for Bitcoin to have a boring year.  There are going to be plenty of interesting developments to come over the course of the year.

It is early to judge but I think that it will be an interesting and not a boring year.
The halving period is the most interesting part of the year when we all expect an increase of bitcoin price.

This guy decided the wrong moment to make this thread, im sorry if you sold but the price is still going up since you posted this, we now 430, and in 2016 we will break the ATH. Weak hands beware.

Bitcoins price is directly related to the spending done on the network and the biggest spending event of the year just ended. However we've got the halving to look forward to next year, so we've got that going for us. However realistically speaking, nothing will happen. Maybe a small spike in the price, even if that.

The price is already recovering from the 400 dollar correction, in fact it just went up another 6 dollars by the time I read this thread and we are at 430. 2016 is bullish as hell and what you said sounds exactly like what someone that just sold would say.

I guess I do not agree with you, I think 2016 will be the day when all players online businesses will become bitcoin miners, because I think people will compete to collect btitcoin, in 2016 the price may be higher bitcoin

Maybe it is a boring year, may be not.

I will love to see Bitcoin more mainstream adopted, more services and all that. However, I am content with the situation right now; can earn some, can sell them for cash, and have a nice value. A year just like the one that have passed will not be bad in my view.

Even if Bitcoin remains a little exclusive as it is now it would be good.

A writer at coindesk wrote an op-ed not in agreement with what I say? That isn't surprising. As if being optimistic about bitcoin hasn't been a popular opinion among bitcoin users Coindesk needs to pander to.

Nothing to be judged this soon.I think it might go this way for some more years with a drop by drop success globally.
It always takes time for people to get used to something new.Maybe many new merchants ,businesses upcoming in this new year.
