Many didn't feel him during the last season. He really has to redeem himself and get back in shape for this season.

Because some critics are finding a way to criticize the Lakers. That treatment to Westbrook isn't that harsh when he was playing in Houston Rocket and Washington Wizards. There are just of people who don't like Lakers and Lebron James that's why these people are finding a way to always throw a bad impression at the whole Lakers. There are lots of issues that the Lakers faced but didn't highlight.

Anthony Davis, an injury prone, didn't even receive some backlash for being soft. Westbrook can't carry a team while AD and LBJ are not present.

Other than that fact, the people and the fans really expected the new roster of Lakers to be so dominant last season because the team are consist of All-Star players when in reality most of that All-Star player is not in their prime anymore. Moreover, they set up a high standard for Westbrook with almost no room for mistakes because of the stats he had in the past years.

One more season with Russell Westbrook and let's see if his inconsistency last season will be changed. Actually, he won't have to put great numbers per game as long as he is consistent in providing good support for the team. In fairness to him, he can play the entire season without even experiencing a minor injury. Still athletic as always and not injury prone. He just needs to find a way to become his former self where he is draining shots consecutibely and has the ability to slash the paint to put up a score + foul.
I don't think he will last a full season with the Lakers if he plays the way he play last season. I know that the blame should not be put on Westbrook's shoulder, but there was a huge expectations from him specially wih how the play with the Wizards the previous season.

On that matter, we can't really conclude right away what will happen to Westbrook's performance next season.

For me, just give this guy a chance. We can refrain from saying negative speculations for now.
And one more thing, we should not put expectations from him as it will just result in disappointment.

Lakers fans should now be used to doing that.

Wierd how in one year the narrative turns on Westbrook.  I know it's a lot of pity stats but he was a one man wrecking ball when he was on okc.  Maybe it was just an off year.  Dude is a competitor so I wouldn't be surprised if he trained hard this summer and comes out different next year.

He could still make a difference because of that experience he obtained throughout the seasons he played, I'm not sure about this but I believe that he was just struggling in having a supporting role of the team as he was used to be the Alpha and the one who make most of the decisions. He sure know by now that he ain't gonna have that role in Lakers because there's Davis and Lebron doing that.

For now, let's just sit back and see why Darvin Ham chose to keep him in the roster.

Media reporting now that Durant has reached an agreement with Nets management and will be playing for the Brooklyn Nets this year. I imagine that means Kyrie is staying also so no LeBron Kyrie reunion. I think this is probably the best outcome for everyone, but I did want to see them stir up the league. Should be fun to watch anyway. Two more months…

Because that's the best thing to do instead of escaping the situation. Durant may have worsen the critics about him leaving a struggling team and joining a well established one.
Same goes for the Lakers. They should re-run the current roster as last season does not go well for them with lots of injuries, lack of defensive plays, and inconsistency in the offensive end.
The Lakers are quite scary if they can gel things out together as well as the Nets. These two 2 team should've dominated the league currently.

It's funny to see how quickly Durant changes his mind. Let me remind you that he tried to put an ultimatum to the Nets' owner a couple of weeks ago, and now they somehow managed to reach some kind of agreement. Honestly, I think Durant has been acting a little weird this offseason, and he definitely deserves to get some boos from Nets fans during the first home game of the upcoming season. Smiley

That's why the NBA Twitter world is reacting to that awkward return of Kevin Durant.

Those he requested to be fired, GM Sean Marks and Coach Steve Nash, had some serious talk with him. Seems KD really got his head too big as I read, Steve Nash convinced Durant to stay despite the latter wanting him to be fired.

Alright, now that the KD drama is ended, hoping for Durant to do his very best next season.
Wow! I am glad Nash acts like that. I can't do that if I were him. KD said some nasty things against him and as his coach, it must have hurt his feelings, and yet he is the one who convinced him to stay.
This is good. Some chemistry happening in their team. I am expecting better things to happen after this and so with Kyrie.
Last year I expected them to be at the top of the league but was a disappointment, perhaps now it will be different.

Nash is willing to adjust as he is there for business and after convincing Durant to stay, maybe they already talk about

adjustments that they needed to increase their chance in this upcoming season. Still, KD as the primary offense and together with
Irving they are still a winnable team if chemistries between them will materialize.

We will know what will be the changes that might happen and what system will fit for both KD and Irving for them to win the game.

TBH, many are predicting that this to happen but we still need confirmations like this one. With how the Kyrie and Durant trade talks having no traction at all, this is the best option that the Nets need to do and it happened.

With this confirmation, the Nets are now in the 3rd spot in the odds in some sportsbook for winning the championship. They are 8th when this didn't happen and with their current line-up, I think they can do it. They have so many offensive firepower and they just need another defender in the paint aside from Claxton and I think they can be a championship contender. Durant, Kyrie, Harris coming back, Seth Curry, role players TJ Warren and Royce O'neal and they also have Simmons which is a great defender that can play from 1-5 position. On the other hand though, their 3 all-star players are prone to injuries so injuries might spoil their championship run but I hope it will not happen.

The moment Brooklyn Nets shifted its demands on an Irving trade and demanded that only reliable players will be considered in a possible trade sealed the fate that KD will stay for the next season.

I haven't expected the Nets odds to move to the top 3 after the confirmation. My top 3 picks to win the championships are the Celtics, Warriors, and 76ers. Maybe there are still movements in Brooklyn since there's still a lot of time for negotiations but I am actually happy that Nash remained as he is one of my favorite players in the NBA. But maybe his plays are not fit for Irving who is not a high-level playmaker. And there's also Simmons who can play many positions, and has a good defense but is a poor shooter. Nonetheless, I hope they can contend with the top teams and remain healthy throughout the whole season.

Nash has always been a class act and if he wants to have any sort of future in coaching in the NBA, which I believe he very much does, then he needed to resolve this situation.  I'm sure he sat and explained to KD how they all want the same thing and the best way for them to accomplish it is together.  Once the Ayton contract took him off the trading block it seemed like nobody else had the assets to make something happen.

At least he comes to his senses, not sure who initiated the meeting, it is Durant or the Nets management? Just curious because if it is Durant then it is a sudden change of heart? or just willing to step aside his differences and displeasure with the Nets that he will stay at least for this season. Or maybe he is just exhausted (just like us), with the continuing saga that has nothing but a good ending for both sides. Still a lot of things to iron out though once the game started, they still have one diva in them which is Ben Simmons.

As the saying goes, "all well that ends well", hehehe, maybe he realized that he won't get traded for now. So the best approach is to work with the Nets, Joe Tsai, Steve Nash and Sean Marks. Maybe his business manager has something to do with it, perhaps he sway Durant to just stay with the Nets for sometime and he how it goes for this season. So no heads are going to role for now, and as per reports, their goal should be to win a ring.

We should stop expecting a lot from Lakers already. I get that they became champions in the "bubble" season just a few years ago, but they are not going to be that good ever again and we shouldn't really expect them to go well. First year it was championship, then they had injuries and I mean like a lot of them, then they had westbrook season which didn't fit well at all.

We should just let it be, they will be bad for a while again and then they are lakers, they will find a way to attract great free agents eventually again, and they will become champions again. So for a while, people should lose hope for them and they shouldn't really be hoping for anything more than barely making playoffs if they are lucky levels.

I mean it's better to put it this way, expect the unexpected, last year, Golden State was not expected to be the champions and the Lakers should be in top. But look at what happened, the Warriors getting their 4th ring while the Lakers was eliminated.

So I guess when we least expect then something might happen, if I may add to the equation, even Boston was not in the list as far as the East goes, it was Nets, the Bucks and the Sixers. So let's see what the Lakers can do this season, if they remain healthy and be competitive in the West then its good for us fans.

The Lakers are still a big deal because LeBron James is still adding to his legacy and case of being the greatest of all time.  When Los Angeles signed him, they knew they were going to have to put out the big bucks to remain competitive so it's fun watching them try to buy a championship.  The Russell experiment blew up pretty hard in their face though.  They're going to have to pull a rabbit out of their hat in order to fix that and add another chip to LeBron's legacy.

I think he came to the conclusion that any team who trades for him was going to be left with not enough talent to win it all and Brooklyn is his best shot at winning.
Hehe and this is probably the reason why the Nets management isn't budging with their insane trade demands. They also understand that time will run out and KD will be forced to play eventually.

....

What list is that? Celtics has always been a contender in the East for years because of Tatum as far as I know so it's hard to just discard them

He's a bit of an emotional guy for someone who's getting paid millions of dollars per month.  I think he came to the conclusion that any team who trades for him was going to be left with not enough talent to win it all and Brooklyn is his best shot at winning.  This is going to be a tough year for him though.  He had the chance to sign anywhere and chose the Nets, so it's really his own fault for tangling himself up with Kyrie.  Nobody saw the pandemic coming (except Bill Gates) but with so much money on the line, I wouldn't be lumping myself in with someone like Kyrie.

That's why there are a lot of "what if" for Durant, live what if he didn't leave the Golden State. Anyways, he chooses Kyrie and it seems that Irving is the one that really brought some kind of jinx to the Nets or made them suffer for his decision not to get vaccinated and Durant was the only one carrying the team. So it's better for him to stay with the Nets and see how it goes, who knows, maybe he can build a chemistry with Ben Simmons and make it a fresh start for both of them.

Current "best player" and all time best player will always be up for debate with no solution to come to an agreement.  It's a round and round conversation that never ends.  I like to think of players in tiers, with no distinction between them.  Easier done like that.
You said it right.

It will be a long debate and conversation and in the end, it's either both opinions are correct based on the basis of proving who's the best player. Well, fans and veterans are the ones that are having this conversation.

For me, it's a good conversation because this only proves that are many really are interested on this topic and many are following on who's the best and when it's about the achievement of a player. We're pretty interested and sure want to be there.
