The Nuggets lost their firepower in their second unit last season, which is why they failed in the playoffs. Having Westbrook as part of the second unit would be significant, as his confidence will bring energy to his teammates, potentially improving the non-Jokic minutes for the team. They are likely to make the playoffs, but they need to return to the NBA Finals and win again while their team is still complete and healthy. Hopefully, this postseason, they have filled all the necessary pieces to form a championship team again.

Agree to that, Westbrook coming from the bench and give minutes to allow stars to rest a kind of help that he can really fill in, he's a scorer and hopefully the coaching staff will give him that same treatment even he's going to come in from the second unit, I like to see what he can add with the campaign of the Nuggets bringing that championship caliber and be more competitive chasing another title.

Though it's so much hype as we don't know what he can deliver, just going to wait for him playing with the rest of the Nuggets squad.

Yeah, pretty much that's it, just the hype, just like when he was in the Lakers and then the Clippers, Lol. And basing from that stint of Westbrook, it maybe the same with the Nuggets. I mean they've lost KCP and they think the Westbrook might be a good replacement, but it's totally different as Westbrook for me is no longer in his prime and I'm not seeing him having a impact.

Of course, with his experience and tenacity, there could be games that he will score and then bricks the next game. But let's see what he can bring. Last time for him to become a NBA champion and the Nuggets could be his ticket.

We need to remember, this may not be true for Haliburton, but it's true for Tatum that he played until the last game of the season, so he could be a little tired, and while he is still young, he is not getting any younger, so resting him during the games they know they are winning is important. If you keep him playing at all games then he is going to either get super tired and have a bad start for the season, or he is going to even get injured as well. This is why I suggest that they are doing the right thing with him.

Haliburton was injured for a while too, which means that resting him isn't a bad choice neither, if he is back then he can get some minutes at times, to you know gain some momentum going into the season, but if he doesn't play much that's still fine. Plus this was just one game, we still don't know how it will go, maybe next game they will be the most played players, maybe they are rotating between games, we have no idea what they are planning.

People are making too big a deal over it honestly.  The goal is to win games and ultimately gold.  If th a t means playing some players over others than so be it.  Seeing the game play out I think the right rotation was in.  Durant was lights out, lebron was needed for his physicality, guards to spread the floor and defense from jrue.  Next game someone else won't get playing time, no big deal.  You need to keep a decent sized rotation you can't play everyone minimum playing time.
Well, that's how the media is making money. Making dramas out of small things like Tatum getting benched, and with how the people from social media reacts, I expect some memes coming from them that will be posted online (like a triple-double in claps, high-fives and the number of glasses of Gatorade he drank). Cheesy

Anyway, I don't see this one as a big deal as well. In a roster filled with superstars, there's always a possibility for a player or two to get benched or at least play with limited minutes. In this case, it's Tatum in their first game, but I believe Coach Kerr will let him play in their next game against South Sudan. Speaking of South Sudan, we've seen how they played against the US team, but I don't think that it will happen again this time. As for this drama, let the media cover it. It will stay popular for about 3 days or a week at max then everybody will just forget it completely.

At the end of the day, like @wheelz1200 said, it's all about the Gold Medal and not whether you play many minutes, or not.

This is the KD that we had all admired. Just wow, magic hands but this doesn't happen at all times. Congratulations to the team USA.

Tatum seems heated the seat.
The way KD is carrying Team USA is far different from how he played last season with the Phoenix Suns. He's performing better in the Olympics than in the NBA playoffs. I can't imagine KD did that, never missing a shot in the first half. I think he is the first one to achieve that in the Olympics with over 8 attempts.

KD already earned Gold Medals: 2020 Olympic Games, 2016 Olympic Games, 2012 Olympic Games, 2010 FIBA World Championship. (https://www.usab.com/players/kevin-durant)

Oh, I wasn't aware that KD is part of history in the Olympics, it will he his 4th Gold if everything went smooth for the US team. It's really hard to compare though players not just KD in the playoffs as in the Olympics, totally different experience for them.

The women's side as well won in the opener, same margin. So I guess the men's and women's side as the heavy favorites for the Gold.

Some people creating issues towards in that situation and they make it look like that there's some issue happening. For sure those players understand that they have rotations to follow also strategy to be done that's why its expected that there will be some players will sit out on each games they play. There focus is not to have a good show but rather to take a gold medal in this tournament. People just creating drama since maybe they are enjoying seeing some issues online and spread hatred to couching staff who handle USA. Durant is excellent in that match also all of them really made outstanding contribution to get that win.

I honestly think Kerr had a really good rotation going. Naturally steph is going to get playing time and people think it's because he is Kerry's golden bot.  But steph really opened up the middle for the US.  He demands so much attention out top and creates havoc on opposing defenses especially most of which have never played against him yet.  I have no issue with steph getting a lot of burn in the game.

Tatum seems heated the seat.

Tatum and Haliburton didn't play, and we can understand as the coaching staff is playing like in a needed basis or what the opposition is giving them. So in this case, they are not needed. But I read that Joel Embiid is -8 when he is on the floor. For KD, it's good to see him back in the fold as if we have not injured or something. Just walking up like that and then contributed to the games. It's obvious that Serbia doesn't have answered to the Americans.
It was a surprise when KD was there and Kerr did really planned all of this. Well, props to him and he knows how to give his men the right playing time when they're on their momentum.

It was a history for him that he never missed for several minutes and that really wowed all of us. This is the true form KD I guess that we might not see when the regular season of NBA comes back.

I think Westbrook still has the talent but he just ended up on the wrong teams. After his time with OKC, he played with the Rockets and the Wizards, and he did pretty well statistically. He averaged 27.2 points with the Rockets and 22.2 points with the Wizards. His numbers significantly dropped during his last season with the Clippers. (https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/w/westbru01.html)

So we should continue to hope that he will finally find the best team for him as he is only lacking a championship to solidify his individual achievement being a future hall of famer.

It's good to see WB back in the NBA, we missed that kind of competitiveness in the NBA and for sure it will trickle down to the Mavs players as his desire to win is still there even if we say that he has lost some steps already and no longer in his prime. Gonna be interesting on how he can mentor young Mavs players or even Luka as they are the most competitive and fiery players that we have in the NBA right now.

Westbrook knows his role already. The fact that he was okay with a smaller contract with the Clippers just to increase their chance at the championship so they can accommodate more players shows he isn't the same player anymore. Westbrook could still have a positive impact on the team, and since Denver is such a strong team with a better system, maybe he'll fit here as a role player. However, let's not expect him to average a triple-double, as that was the prime Westbrook we remember.
I agree with you Russell Westbrook knows his role in NBA now. He took less money to play for Clippers because he wants to help them win championship. He is not the best player he used to be but he can still help good team like Denver. They have a strong team and a good way of playing. I think it is okay to expect him to be a good supporting player but not the superstar he used to be. Let's like him for who he is now not for who he used to be.

US team looks good.  This Serbia team is no joke amd while it was tight for a couple of quarters US blew them out in the end.  It has to be demorali,ING to see people like ANT and Durant come in off the bench lol.  Imagine a team where durant wasn't starting lol.  Lebron looks locked in too.  This is gonna a be a good Olympics for them.

LeBron James and Kevin Durant put on a show in the first half of today’s game. Between them they shot 13-13 from the field with 31 points. Pretty incredible seeing what 2 of the best players in the world are capable of when they’re locked in. Team USA seems to be finally hitting their stride in the Olympics just in time.

Russell Westbrook signed with Denver Nuggets. Russel Westbrook will receive $6.8 million for 2 years.

Denver Nuggets continue to strengthen the bench. Russel will be a good asset for them. I hope Russel can find what he is looking for in Denver.

Westbrook was once one of my favorite plays, but he's gotten really old now. He'll probably be a good addition to the team as a rotation player, but he certainly won't be Denver's star player. Denver continues to get stronger and will have even bigger goals for next season. Let's see what the experienced Westbrook, who will play with the best players in the NBA, can do, I wonder Smiley

Indeed, and beside there are stars who will take part I mean the offense will rotate with those stars that will sorround him a possible coming out from the bench to give some rest to those stars, we can't expect him to make that big impact the way he was during his OKC days, no longer on his prime and the level of competition really increase a lot, with how coaches and players execute their defense, there are adjustments that can be done to stop or counter whatever the system of the other team.

Those are the days which is no longer the same as  for Westbrook, he can be a role player and contribute whatever the opportunities gave him.

I hope so too. The Denver Nuggets badly need somebody who is aggressive in their bench players and I think WB could provide that for the team. Plus, his veteran perspective might help Jamal Murray to change his play style. He needs to be more aggressive and we didn't see that during the playoffs against the Timberwolves. He was locked by anyone who would defend him and as a champion, that cannot happen again.
Now, WB might need a partner when they put him in and I think DeAndre Jordan can be that man. Bring Nuggets to lob city. When it comes to defense, they definitely have some good players there like Braun and Watson who had been great at blocking shots either perimeter or inside attacks.
