So as a Chicago Bulls fan I'm not real excited about the offseason or next year as we are horrible.  I'm curious though what everything thinks of the Demar DeRozan trade, and what do ya'll think about Zach Lavine still being a member of this Chicago Bulls?  I think it's sort of crazy that he's still on the team.  We have to real use for him since we have no shot at any sort of championship and he's just a wasted asset as I see it..

For the fans of Bulls, this might be bad though, I mean Lavine shows interest to leave as early as January last year when he got injured. But with the news that DeRozan has left already, so the management can't simply let Lavine goes as there will be no one to carry the team unless they are willing to go to another hiatus and built up.

And there are news that: Bulls Rumors: 'Growing Belief' Nikola Vucevic Could Be Traded if DeMar DeRozan Leaves.

So it doesn't really look good for the Bulls next season I supposed.

I wouldn’t call losing Lavine or Vuc bad. Jerry , the Bulls owner has held the bulls (the NBAs best ticket seller) in NBA purgatory for countless years at this point. Winning is not what matters to him. He won 6 championships with the NBAs all time best player and seem content with that being that and just making money going forward. Why I won’t support the bulls money wise any more.

Lavine is a great scorer but his D is shit and he’s A BIT of a locker room disrupter

Vuc, blows. He was solid double double guy on the Magic who sucked donkey balls so he stood out but he couldn’t defend a 10 year old 4 foot kid. His scoring is extremely hit or miss.

The blow up needs to happen, but what then. I have zero hope in that shit organization.

Its like their team exist for entertainment and they don't have plans to win a championship. There decision making is really off that's why they get bad results each year. Also we don't see any big movement especially on their trading decision since they didn't get much stars to help their team to win.

No question about capability of Lavine but he's not enough. Also he don't have trade value that's why maybe Bulls are trapped with him since he can't get rid of the guy then get more better players to help Bulls next season.

Last time bulls became great when Jordan and Derick rose is in their team. But now since there team is so hopeless and have less chance to win a championship.

But that era was long ago, and If I'm not mistaken, they are in debt already for years, it might be the teams are worth something today, but if you are in debt then you might be doing something wrong as owners of one of the best recognized franchise.

Lavine is a great scorer but his D is shit and he’s A BIT of a locker room disrupter

But I do agree that Lavine fall short as a franchise player when the Bulls got him, they try to have help with DeRozan and Vuc, but still they are not even close to reaching the finals in the East. Now DeRozan and Caruso is gone, and they are going to be stuck with Lavine again and we don't know if he is willing to stay with the Bulls this season or what kind of performance they are expecting of him.

A very nice display of his skills.

NBA Summer League, Day 1: Reed Sheppard steals the show vs. Bronny James in Las Vegas
Link Yahoo
Quote
LAS VEGAS — Basketball fans got a first look at many of the top NBA draft picks during the first day of Las Vegas Summer League. The Thomas & Mack Center sold out for the two marquee games as 19,000 fans packed the gym for Lakers vs. Rockets to see Bronny James in action. But it was Reed Sheppard, the No. 3 pick, who stole the show and helped Houston get the win, 99-80.
I cannot wait to watch this guy once the NBA season starts. I mean, the Rockets are already strong and they showed great teamwork at the start of the last season. Now, they got stronger with this guard helping out on the offensive end.

The game of the Washington Wizards versus the Atlanta Hawks was also fun to watch. The number 1 pick of the Hawks Zacharie Risacher showed why he is valuable scoring 18 points. but the Wizards still won the game with Bub Carrington doing some work 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists. Wow! 4/8 on outside shots, that's nice.

I do not think that Nike had anything to do with this, I think Lebron was the one who built this team to be fair. And aside from Embiid, who is clearly not American and not like "oh he is black" type of racist thing, dude spent most of his life in another nation and was born there, if you are born on a nation but you have parents who were born in another, then I support you being on a team for a nation that you are born in, but this dude wasn't even born here.

Aside from him, they brought in some of the big guns and I am sure that they are going to do very well. I do not think that anyone will get even close to them, this isn't some ok players team, this is the stars and nobody has any players that is even close to this level.

Based on his bio. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joel_Embiid

he is an "Cameroonian / French / American"

So he could play with either of these three national teams,  Grin... But he chose America, so I think there's no problem with that. In our national team, there's even one naturalized citizen who's a foreigner, but since it's allowed, that's fine.

I think we are talking too much about Brown's complaint. It's time to rest that and give Team USA peace of mind and wish them the best.

Yeah its individual choice on where they want to play. But unfortunately there are fans that doesn't like the decision of Embiid to play in US since some of them like to see him wearing Cameroons uniform. But their want didn't happen since he decide to join USA. Maybe they should respect the decision of Embiid since he can choose to play wherever he want. They are just taking everything so heavy and got angry when their expectation didn't happen.

Brown issue is not done yet and for sure there would be a lot more discussion to come. But if brown decide to stop and focus on other things maybe with thay we can see that this issue will fade out naturally.

Both issues still hot since the Olympics is not done yet and same follows, these topic will die naturally  once the new NBA season starts as fans will start cheering with their favorite teams and stars, let's focus with how team US will perform and see if they can dominate the olympics with the current squad that they've got.

With those EU teams who also have decent quality players, it's a challenge against this newly formed US squad.

Jalen Brunson renewed his contract with the Knicks for 4 years, 156.5 million dollars.
If Brunson had renewed his contract next year instead of this year, he would have earned 5 years and 269 million dollars. However, Brunson wanted to give his team "financial comfort".
This is how Brunson supported his team for the championship.

That's a big difference. However, I think Brunson decided not only to give the team "financial comfort" but also not to push his luck. I mean, so many things can change during the regular season. If he gets injured or performs worse next season, the offer from Knicks management might be worse than it is now.
Brunson wants a ring, that's it. He is trying to give his team room to sign someone else to help the team IMO. I think he felt like last year was their year and they couldn't close it out and now he's pissed and hungry.

By signing this contract it keeps the Knicks under the second financial apron.  This means they will have more flexibility to sign players and the bigger part opens up theor trade options.  Leon rose the gm used to be his agent, his dad is an assistant coach.  JB is tied into the Knicks and is giving them the best chance they can over the next 3/4 years to build a winner.  If dude brings home a championship they might as well build a statue at msg lol.

Taj Gibson signing a one year deal with the Hornets for 3.3 million dollars to be a mentor to a young squad is an interesting signing. He must be a good locker room guy and he has lots of experience. It seems like Charlotte is really trying to build something. That or they have no clue how to control LaMelo and are grasping at straws.

I also think that Brunson was afraid, that's not like some "did it for the club" type of thing, players don't do that anymore. I think he was afraid that if he doesn't take this deal, he may not have a season like the one he had for a long time. He is not the type of guy who would leave 100 million on the table because nobody is, not even Lebron, if you offer someone 100 million then they will take it.

In any case, New York paid him very little, less than what he deserved, and they are not going to use it at all, Harden did the same with Sixers and Sixers did nothing about it. Knicks are a very badly managed team, owned by a guy who doesn't care about the team because he only cares about the valuation of the team, and they will suck no matter how much they pay to Brunson. They can give him zero dollars and still keep him and still be bad.

In this year's Summer League, the Celtics have players who were on the roster last season, such as JD Davison and Jordan Walsh. Baylor Scheierman and Anton Watson, who were selected in the 2024 NBA Draft, will also play for the Miami Heat match. Undrafted free agent Tristan Enaruna is also on the Celtics roster. The Celtics are giving their young players a chance to develop and capitalize on their future potential.

The Heat's Summer League roster includes Cole Swider and Alondes Williams, who joined the team late last season on two-way contracts. New two-way signings Zyon Pullin and Keshad Johnson are also on the roster. The Heat will evaluate the performances of its young players to determine who will be on the roster for next season. Summer League head coach Dan Bisaccio will try to maximize the potential of the young talents by putting them on the court. The Heat will play the Celtics match having played three summer league games. Therefore, they have the advantage of playing a little more together. Although the Miami Heat have scored above summer league standards in previous games, the Celtics effect could make this game different.

There aren't many basketball players who can do that. While everyone is looking to make more money and get bigger contracts, you cannot find a player who will do such a big favor. He is a very well-intentioned player who has acted as if he has been in this team for many years.
I laughed a lot at Josh Hart's tweet after the news. Build him a statue he said Cheesy

When it comes to sports like Basketball, Football or even track racing you'll surely find individual playing for countries of their choosing, take a look at the case of the Williams brothers of Athletic Bilbao in football, Inaki Williams the elder brother represent the Ghanaian national team, while his younger brother Nico Williams is currently playing for Spain in Euro 2024.

Let's for instance how many Canadian NBA players were actually born in Canada or do not possess due citizenship ? at the end of the day it's always comes down to the individual choice of the player.

He cannot do it alone, I think that is what he meant for accepting the contract now. He needs help and obviously, money is needed if you want better players to be on your side.
How I wish all superstars think like Brunson especially if your goal is a championship and not just the money. The same goes with Lebron James who is ready to cut some of his salary just to get a new star player in their roster. Sacrifices.
Also, I think he doesn't want to look bad when he cannot win a championship and we all know how New York treats the players, there's always the pressure.
Yes, and probably it was something to do with his Father as well, who is the assistant coach of New York Knicks, so at least he respect and give Knicks a leeway somewhat and instead of signing it for next year for a max contract for him, might be better this year and then see how it goes not just for Jalen but for other teams as the Knicks could still sign some good players to be added so that they will be a complete team and could make a good run just like they did last season. I think Lebron also do that this season and willing to have a pay cut just to get players like DeRozan and Klay Thompson, but it went to nothing though.

I think he also knows he isn’t as good as he is being portrayed right now and wanted to secure his bag while he could. If he gets injured or exposed next year he could be wishing he’d get the 150 million… I would have done the same thing if I was him and given the same answer, but the truth is he didn’t hold out for 269 because he’s not worth it and he knows it.
He is the only one who know his real intention, but comparing to other players that bag over $200 million contract, I think Brunson was even better.

So I made some quick search and there are the names.
https://www.businessinsider.com/nba-players-who-signed-200-million-contracts#10-joel-embiid-4-years-208-million-10
Quote
1. Nikola Jokic — 5 years, $269 million\
2. Bradley Beal — 5 years, $251 million
3. Giannis Antetokounmpo — 5 years, $228 million
4. Devin Booker — 4 years, $224 million
5. Karl-Anthony Towns — 4 years, $224 million
6. Stephen Curry — 4 years, $215 million
7. Luka Doncic — 5 years, $215 million
8. Zach LaVine — 5 years, $215 million
9. Trae Young — 5 years, $215 million

10. Joel Embiid — 4 years, $208 million

So all the names in bold text, I believe Brunson is better than them in terms of impact to the team.
